Add water..... makes it''s own sauce! |
Taken from the Guild Wars site: Well, I can't seem to paste in here for some reason, so I'll sum it up. Future update to combat 'rising' prices for the sigil. Basically, when a team wins the Hall of Heros, 3 Sigils will drop instead of one. Also, the Sigil Trader NPC will be improved to "more accurately reflect the in game supply and demand", whatever that means. Now, I for one don't see how this is going to help much. Guilds are winning plenty, and hoarding them, waiting for prices to go higher, because they control the supply, by not letting any go, thus raising demand and price. Kinda like the oil situation in real life. Except here in the game, they sell VERY few if any! I saw some guy in chat wanting to buy one, said the LOWEST price 1 person offered was 150,000. And that was the only offer he got to sell one to him. What they NEED to do, is let the sigil trader actually HAVE some to sell! I hear it's 1 every 15 minutes gets released to the traders. WTF is that?? The game is called GUILD wars, yet you need to have a huge guild of farmers or people with way too much time on their hands to try and aquire one. Not to mention you then have to BUY the Guild Hall too! It's a step in the right direction, however I think it's far too small a step. Oh, and they're starting to 'block' accounts that advertise casinos! YAY!!!!!!! |

The prices on celestial sigils are outrageously crazy and waaaaaay over priced! My guild leader was going to buy one from an individual for about 25k, but we had to rase the money first. When he went back to this person, the price shot up to 60k.....Now I see people selling them for 100k or more.... They really need to fix this asap or else the damn things will be quarter of a mil. or even more before we know it!

Ya, i dont know what the heck happened with the price inflation all of the sudden, maybe it was because more players were getting high enough that more people wanted Guildhalls, or the sellers were just being really greedy. Either way, its good to see Arenanet is taking a crack at them.

Games are meant to be played... |
I don't think that sigils are worth what people are bidding atm, however it is nice to see something going for decent money in guild wars. What else are you going to spend your money on... Since the game is designed not to be about the items you are wearing, rather your skill as a player, items are not worth spending much money on. Besides a guild hall, really what is there to spend money on?

Last night I saw a HECK of a lot more for sale than in my entire time in game added up! They seemed to be going for around 60-65k, someone said they saw then on a npc trader for 45k, but that's just someone sayin. I guess the hoarders will start sellin em now before they drop lower..... I guess this was really the biggest money sink in the game. There are some high level armors, but once your that high level, the gold is no problem I hear. They will have to do something for the economy, or gold will be useless in a few months.... People selling Superior Runes for 25 to 50k I guess is one.... I know I can't wait to get that much to get rid of these major runes suckin the health outta me.... hehe... |

Well last night right after the patch the Sigil Trader had some for like 80k (which is WAY up in price from what she sold them for if you were lucky enough to catch her with some instock before the update, was 40k back then). This morning (about 5 minutes ago as of this post) she had them for 53k or so, so it does seem like the price is going down as more nd more people win them and sell them off (since the HoH winning team gets 3 now instead of 1 I believe) so technically the supply should be tripled and the demand the same... The absolute greatest solution to the problem would be to make them a Unique item; meaning you could only own one at any one time on your account. Not per character, per account. Just have it do a simple scan of your inventories and vault before allowing you to pick it up. That would completely kill off the horders trying to jack up the prices and make a killing. |

That's a great idea, one that other games do, so shouldn't be hard to impliment if they want. I think they want to keep it as a money sink tho, since they don't have anything else for players to blow their hard earned gold on. Oh, except those superior runes... lol.... |
