I posted this in another forum, but thought I would add it here as well. A new game is coming out called Dark Solstice. The message boards are open and sign up has started for beta. No word on when beta will start, though.

what does the game look like in action? I have not seen any ss's on site

There are a few forest screen shots in the trailer, but they really haven't posted anything more than that. The boards and website just opened up on Saturday. Most of the info they have given is on the boards and are asking for input from everyone. :)

Hopefully, they'll have some SS's up soon. I'm anxious to see more myself.

On rare occasions in the land of Teramor, a full eclipse coincides with one of the Solstices. Many strange occurrences happen at this time. The sky, of course, grows dark, animals act strangely, and normal things are no longer normal. It is unwise to remain outside unprotected. It is even more unwise to venture into the areas where the beasts from below are known to congregate.

Registrations are open for the new exciting role playing adventure game, Dark Solstice. Phase 1 testing will be limited to the first 1,000 players to sign up. Testers will be asked to help us iron out the bugs of our new game and make suggestions on things that can be improved or added.

The message boards are now open. I've been told that game pictures should be posted in a few days. Go to http://www.solsticeserver.com and check it out.

It really doesnt look impressive, a couple of the shots in the intro were maps included with 3ds max.  The only monster they showed was a still image moving across the screen.  I didnt see anything I couldnt make in 5 minutes in visuals from that intro.

I think the graphics used on the trailer were just that, stuff they used for the movie. I just went to the Dark Solstice boards and they are showing some of the art for the game. It looks completely different and quite frankly it is refreshingly different from any I have seen. And actually it looked quite impressive to me since the overall visual impression I see weighs heavily in how I judge a game. I am looking forward to learning more about the game and eager to take part in their beta.

I must say that if the rest of their world looks as good as these, it will represent a fresh new approach unlike any game I can think of. Needless to say I like what I see a LOT.

It is not yet in beta phase but the signup is there.
