We live in a fantasy world, a world of illusion. The great task in life is to find reality.

May be betray them and kill them and take their packs or do it honourably and get paid in return. There are so many possibilities that allow for people to group up and there is a reason to group not merely to kill some boss but to face other players and to be safe to earn money.

This is quite an amazing opportunity to form relationships and looks like it will be adrenaline pumping. I wish I was not such a scaredy cat though afraid of PvP. I must admit though this sounds really quite fun.

Their around, I belong to an Anti-Pirate guild currently but we're still relatively small and still learning/leveling.

If your idea of a Sandbox is open FFA Full Loot PvP, full crafted world with minimal support for anything combat then your sandbox ideas are bad! Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

It also looks like a lot of those people also missed a point the OP brings up.  AA offers actual risk vs reward.

It's also not full loot.   You lose the trade pack in the pvp continent; not all of your gear.

It's obvious you know nothing of the game. Before posting drivel you really should get the facts. Safe zones are a misnomer, you can be ganked pretty much anywhere except one island because even your own faction members can attack you.  Currently  in Alpha I have yet to go into a 30+ zone where 90% of the people I see from my faction are flagged to gank.

Currently AA has a Justice system that is supposed to make ganking your own faction less desireable but the way the penalties work it has no deterrence at all.  I'm ok with allowing outlaws but if you are going to implement a Justice system, at least make it actually do something besides being a joke. I see the same people 20-30 times a day in court and yet as soon as they are done they are back out there ganking their own faction.

Obviously you know more than me so please feel free to cry about pvp in a game that from everything I've read makes it possible to not have to engage in pvp unless you want to.

one in the bush is better than one in the hand.

If you kill too many players from your own faction, you become a pirate, and are then barred from entering any cities. So, there is a penalty that is meaningful, eventually.

But that what makes it worth it the excitement of am i going to get there or loss all my crap.

Used to get the same feeling in the original Darkfall , it was super frustrating , but also super exhilarating too ! Risk vs reward and adrenaline rush . :)

It's not the same as Darkfall. In Darkfall the thing to have was gold. With gold you had access to everything the game had to offer. Still the gold would drop of any mob. Or you could farm resources or enchanting materials and sell those for gold. Even killing other players would provide you a steady income. If you did not like dying, you would group up or start farming stuff in an area that was not often visited by others.

In AA there is this token called Gilda Stars. So far they can only be earned from doing traderuns or camping traderunners. Imo the freedom of how you want to play the game is kinda being limited by this. Want a house? Get Gilda Stars! Want a special mount or ship? Get Gilda Stars! People will counter this with well you can live/use other players stuff, (that is true) but does not give the same satisfaction.  So for getting Gilda Stars you can do either do the low reward yielding runs or do the longer ones, but any semi-serious pvp guild will know the location of the limited number of delivery points and will be waiting for you.

Think ahead a few months. The sheep (casuals) might have left the game. The hardcore pvp-ers have all the gilda-stars they need/want. Who will be doing the trade-runs? PvP might be offered to you in plenty, but will it still be avaiable when none does the traderuns any more? You say Northern Continent? Will it be included at release? Russian server did not have it at launch.

Uh oh. This is the first huge negative Ive heard about AA. Im currently playing dfuw and love it. Limiting options to progress makes no sense...what are they thinking? I already question the labor point system and now this.

And this is why the "carebears" hate this type of server, cause of this immature attitude associated with forced pvp games. Just give me a server where you get the TEF system of pvp and not forced and I will give Trion my money.

And this is stereotype bollocks and a case of pot calling cattle black.

This thread alone has "carebears" calling pkers asshats, borred sobs, immature kids full of bs, telling us open PvP is waste of time, etc.... nevermind  hundreds of other threads from past. Please.

They're not limiting anything. Anyone can earn guilda stars and you don't even have to go into the pvp areas. It just takes longer to earn. No big deal.

Seems like that is the current consensus of western mmo players.

I want an immersive virtual world that emulates a living and breathing world but PVP count me out !

There needs to be something in the cash shop that makes me invincible to other players.

That guy seems a bit confused at least how I read that.

You can buy anything from other players meaning if you wish you can kill mobs all day long  to get gold  and various other drops - just like in Darkfall.

Naval combat is light years ahead of Darkfalls' (I played it for 2 years). The things DF has over AA are: full loot, no tab target and possibly city building (castle building in AA is not too advanced). Everything else in AA is far above DF, including more diverse housing and a plaethora of (sandbox) content that Darkfall won't have for another decade if ever.

Pot calling "kettle" black.

And yes I agree with you that the complaints are silly. I haven't been on a WildStar forum, but do PVPer's go on there in droves and complain that there isn't any open pvp with loot? I highly doubt it, especially not compared to the number of "carebears" in the pvp games complaining.

Eve online won't create a pve server will they? GOD i hope that ArcheAge doesn't either. There are PLENTY of non aggressive areas for the carebears to play around with. Risk vs Reward. Don't like PVP, not your game.

It does not mean that at all. You can do everything the game provides including going to higher level areas during the peace timer. The only thing you cannot do is limited by your own decision not to take the higher paying trade packs. That is a limitation you place on yourself. Everything else you can do why can't you let the PvP players have this ? Why so greedy huh ?

So the solution would be to eliminate the risk? Essentially, you're saying that you want the same rewards as a player that actually took the risk. That's not fair...

Same reason why pvp players ruin pve players while they are busy fighting npc mob. simply put "carebears" don't care for lunatics.

They like it because it makes up for how they are treated in RL. Personally, I find it funny since I know how terrible their life is that this is actually a pleasure. Crazy eh?

Guess what? Pvp players can't kill you if you aren't in a pvp area..

I also want to add, if you are playing a PvP game and just so happen to be in a PvP area... Why wouldn't you be on the look out for PvPers?

That guy seems a bit confused at least how I read that.

You can buy anything from other players meaning if you wish you can kill mobs all day long  to get gold  and various other drops - just like in Darkfall.

Naval combat is light years ahead of Darkfalls' (I played it for 2 years). The things DF has over AA are: full loot, no tab target and possibly city building (castle building in AA is not too advanced). Everything else in AA is far above DF, including more diverse housing and a plaethora of (sandbox) content that Darkfall won't have for another decade if ever.

Good to hear. Ive heard the sieging isnt really in. Do you siege cities and then live out of them like df? Im also dubious that naval combat is way ahead of dfuw. Im assuming people can steal or blow up your ship in AA? Can I blow up cities from the water? Either way Im excited about AA(despite the combat), I just hope the northern continent is high on their dev priority list.

I do not understand why people enjoy something like that... But glad you are happy....I think

Because they are masochists?

Masochists? I think the more appropriate term would be Opportunist

Obviously you know more than me so please feel free to cry about pvp in a game that from everything I've read makes it possible to not have to engage in pvp unless you want to.

Of course its possible.  But it means staying in low level areas doing low level things.

So the solution would be to eliminate the risk? Essentially, you're saying that you want the same rewards as a player that actually took the risk. That's not fair...

ok so you are telling me that person who loves being killed again and again; robbed again and again is an opportunist? wtf!!

no the solution is to separate pvp and pve.

i want an open world, no phasing, no instancing.i want meaningful owpvp.i want player driven economy.i want meaningful crafting.i want awesome exploration, a sense of thrill.i want ow housing with a meaningful effect on my entire gameplay experience, not just some instanced crap.i want all of these free of cost, i don't wanna pay you a cent, game devs can eat grass and continue developing game for me.
Seems like that is the current consensus of western mmo players.
