We live in a fantasy world, a world of illusion. The great task in life is to find reality.

Where can I get a car for $150 a month?  I pay $400 for an average family SUV.

It might also explain why it's such a big deal to spend that much on a game for some, and others it's no big deal ;)

I'm 54 years old, live alone with my wife.  Kids out of college and on their own. Still work a job that pays really good.  and have plenty of disposable income for entertainment that goes all to my only hobby of video games.  $150 is not a lot of money for me and seeing as I get 3 months of subscription on top of all the other goodies I think it was a valuable offer, in fact for me it was too valuable I couldn't refuse it.

If your idea of a Sandbox is open FFA Full Loot PvP, full crafted world with minimal support for anything combat then your sandbox ideas are bad! Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

$150 dollars is well worth it from what I can see....  The bundled perks and 3 months sub is a no brainer.  At the same time I didn't take the offer but decided on the £40 option as I couldnt justify spending more than that this month...

Roll on beta..  Can't wait...

1: How long the Alpha will last from now on ?

2: Founder is eligible for english client?

3: How do you define the level of the bugs, exploits, hacks in this game so far ?

4: What you cant do in ArchAge and you can do in other 5 mmo ?

5: Whats the level of griefing so far ? I am ok with whatever the level is...i just want to know.

6: How big is the world? If you could travel around the world it will take aprox...how long ?

7: Any other things i need to know?

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this.

If it's alpha, then 3 months + the months we get to play for now with sub benefits. I guess that will make it closer to 5 months +

I think this is the key factor.

$150 is a lot or isn't a lot depending on One's own personal circumstances.

Sure one could say "it's enough to feed a family in a 3rd world country for a year!" and "it probably wouldn't pay for your dinner at the "Four Seasons" (expensive hotel in Boston) but one can only think about it in the context of the person's individual life.

If one has a great job and no expenses and only has one hobby then it "might" not be a big deal. It would be a big deal if you logged in and 5 minutes later you hated it. It would also be a "damn shame".

However, I would like to believe that "some" people know their tastes and their own lives enough to make these decisions. And if one is constantly disappointed then that should be a sign that one needs to change their thinking.

This Friday I'm taking a friend out to theater, dinner and dessert. It will cost waayyyyyy more than $150.00. But the experience is completely worth it.

Some people might find that too much money. And some might say "if you aren't dropping $600 + then what's the point?

So people, just spend your money responsibly and be mindful of how satisfied you are with your money usage and you should be good to go.

And, if someone buys a video game for $60 and never plays it but they drop $150 and play it all the time then which is the better usage of that money?

Exactly ( and I was agreeing with you azz ) It's all about context. Someone saying it's never worth $150 obviously thinks $150 is a lot of money. For someone that goes and blows $150 on a dinner and never bats an eye at the price, 3 months of game time + other goodies is not going to feel it was money wasted. There is no universal value when it comes to entertainment.

If something is selling, it's not because the company found a bunch of suckers. It's because they priced it in such a way that those people saw the value in what they were buying...at least at the time they paid for it.

Damn I really wanted to play Archeage, especially Alpha (since I have played it in RU)... but 150$ is alot.

I would have bought it for this price if I hadn't played Closed Beta 2 of Black Desert in Korea the last 2 weeks. This upcoming game is just so good in every aspect that I will pass on Archeage - even though its a nice game - but maybe too late.

Currently playing: -
Waiting for: Black Desert

There is only one Server they said they would not add another Alpha Server and there were a limited number of Alpha slots.

Server shows high most of the time now when I go to log in, there are people everywhere you go.

Apparently the price was about right.

If they would have sold out in a day that would have meant it was too cheap they could have made more money.

If after this amount of time the server was showing low and not that many people in the game they would have made more money selling it cheaper.

I spent it twice. Once for me and once for the wife :)

Lol hasn't this game been in full release in asia? What their doing is a tranlation for the west right? If this is true how are they calling it an alpha? Its really not a game i'm interested in so i'm just wondering if its really in alpha state.

I cannot, in good conscience ever recommend that you spend $150 on a game when there are comparable products that are much, much cheaper.

However...I did drop the $150 and I'm really enjoying the game.  I would say...only spend the $150 if you've done your research, the $150 is no great loss to you, and you're dissatisfied with every other MMORPG on the market.

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

You ARE NOT spending 150 for the game, in fact the game and the early alpha access (semantics for some) is not costing yu a penny. The list of things you get for the 150 far exceeds the 150 outlay. Just the sub and store credits are worth (at the reduced rate) around 115 dollars.75 for the credits and 40 for the sub (Rifts 3 month deal is 39.96). Then add it the dozen other things you get and look at what they will probably be on the store and it adds up.

Obviously if you want to be a complete free loader and never ever spend a penny on the game then no 150 bucks isnt going to work for you.

I am as 'frugal' as they come and I still think the 150 is a deal. Mostly because as far as MMOs around right now it offers the most of what I am looking for, which is basically everything. Could it use some work, sure, could it gets some tweaks to existing stuff? Sure. But compared to other games out there right now it has so much more to do it isnt even funny. I have played about 70 hours in 10 days and still learning and still scratching the service of things to do. I havent even PvPed yet, fished, run around in my boat, dove for treasure, explored more than the 'safe' zones on my home continent, and who knows what else. You can spend hours just farming and plating crops or running trade missions between cities, or you can spend hours PvPing, or spend hours questing, or spend hours exploring (although that is a zero sum game eventually), there is a ton of stuff to doHours on what ever lane you want to choose.

Once release hits and they open up the areas that are shut off that just expands it even more.

Either way if you dont buy it you wont be noticed because there are literally thousands of people playing this game I was in queue for the jury and I was in 1340 or so place. That just counts people online and who have done the quest to be eligible, and I am pretty sure it is continent specific as well. Not to mention anyone one with criminal behavior (which is probably half the players) is eligible either. So do some napkin math. It is shocking the amount of peopl eplaying this game. Yeah some didnt pay some are free, but I would say a vast majoirty have laid out the 150, and like I said somewhere else, I have not seen more than a couple complaints in chat about the game.

I bought the Alpha and would do it again any day.  This is the best MMORPG game I have played in about seven years.  It may not be for everyone, but if you are sick and tired of the same old themepark games, you'll want to check it out later, if not now.

As far as I'm concerned, I've already got my money's worth in entertainment out of it, and I'm just getting started.  Having a blast!

Show me a comparable game on the market.  There is no other MMORPG like this available right now.  This is not just some craptastic themepark like all the other games out there, including ESO and Wildstar.
