It is simple cost benefit guys. Anet doesn't benefit from expending more resources to fight exploitation and hacks. Putting that effort instead into the Cash Shop will net them more money than putting said money into stopping exploiters. In particular, there is really no reason for them to focus on WvW exploiting since they already aren't making any money off of WvW.

People need to learn and accept that Anet is all about profits from the Cash Shop and Server Transfers.

It makes more sense to ban in waves than banning individual by individual, lest the speed at which bots improve increase.

Currently playing: GW2
Cooperative (semi cooperative)board games you should check: Pandemic, Sentinels of the Multiverse, Eldritch Horror, Descent 2.0,Level 7 Omega Protocol, Last Night on Earth

I got banned for a little while too for it. Nearly didn't return to the game but did make sure from that point that I didn't put a further penny into the game.

If your gonna hack exploit or cheat we should be aloud to name and shame on official forums.

They should have banned you permanently - once a cheater always a cheater.

Anet forum moderators are self-imporatant morons. I am perma-banned from their forums for making similar comments over the last year. They hit you with multiple infractions for a single thread which is idiotic and once you hit their invisible limit - thats that. So try to have an intelligent conversation with people in a thread about the various issues (bots - long ago, and bot trains farming materials, flying hack in WvW to get the orbs of power - something anet could never fix, so the orbs were removed, etc) and end up with a bunch of infractions within the same thread. A more intelligent moderator might give a single point and close the thread, but not these clowns.

Anet forums are now only for raw raw fanbois. Anyone critical of the game in any respect, or pointing out issues, will eventually be banned.

I have little respect for anet at this point. They broke all of their promises and punish anyone who reminds them of this or points out issues.

While a bit hostile, this post is entirely true. The new Anet is all about censorship and ruling with an iron fist. Anything negative said about the game 9 times out 10 on their forums results in immediate banning or infraction and removal of the post. They cannot or will not handle criticism and it's really sad for the fans of the company and the franchise.

Take in mind though that many mplayer games have glitches, and there will always be exploiting players and yes, sometimes that certain player might be just better then you.

  "But how can that be? I am the best player in the world so if anyone beats me and I can't figure out how he did that he must have been cheating!"

Well, some players are just better.

With that said: it is very easy to name and shame, take in mind that that player might not be happy that someone is spamming the forums that he is a cheater and should be hanged for it WHEN he is innocent.

In most countries, you can not simply name and shame without repercussions, ESPECIALLY when they find out you're at fault there. So with providing proof, most players are urged to keep it between the devs and the players with the reporting system instead of ragespamming forums like little children.

Also, when you post ways HOW they cheat, any dev might ban you as you give other players the knowledge how to do it.

OP: you signed up to a EULA, so you agreed to their rules, which will probably allow them to slap you when you spam name and shame on their forums and give the game+devs a bad name.

"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"

Ok so your answer is simply that I am wrong and those guys slaying random monsters 24 hours a day are players who can't be bothered to answer or show any sign of life.

Honesty I expected something better from you but then again I would run out of excuses after your infamous ban wave took more than 4 months to arrive too.

Some people just don't read the chat.

Anyone doing Scarlet holograms event can tell you that - chat is full of "stop killing red" or "stop killing dynamic" and players simply keep killing it. You have to whisper them to get any reaction.

No one has the obligation to reply to your whispers.

Bots that keep dying at veterans in orr will soon have broken armor - naked rangers with bears were a common view in the early months of GW2.

It is quite obvious why they don't allow you to accuse other players of cheating/hacking on a forum. The moment they would allow it, it would get abused by people making false accusations about others. Flame wars would be all over the forums all the bloody time. How often does this need to be explained?

This is why reporting is the only useful method. Whether that has any effect is a whole different matter though. And can be dependant on many other factors.

I've become dependent upon spell check. My apologies for stupid grammatical errors.

You are assuming that (a) they actually are bots, (b) the time frames that are acceptable to you are acceptable to Anet and (c) that if they are bots, the software they are using is pervasive enough to be worth banning (yet).  Anet could just ban every bot that every person reports, but then a lot of regular players are going to get banned and the botting software will get really good, really fast.  Better to ban large blocks of confirmed botters, making the resources they've accumulated worthless and all the time they've spent worthless.  The botters can't actually be stopped, but they can drive up the costs of being a botter.  Better to make them waste months of time rather than hours of time.

For every large, complex problem, there is a simple, clear solution that also happens to be absolutely wrong.

No in-game tool for reporting hackers....and the same hacks have been going on since launch.

But gotta give Anet props for cracking down on the people trying to help.

You do realize that not only have you broken their rules, which you agreed to, but now you are also libeling Anet on a public forum which is legally actionable if they care to take the time to pursue it, not to mention against the rules of this forum, which you also agreed to.

Perhaps tomorrow will be better.

Speak with your wallet,tell them you don't like their attitude and stance on cheating,nor the HIDING it from others.

Tell them you don't like their lack of pro-active measures and are issuing them your final and last warning and are removing your account and will never support any game by them again.I did that with NCSOFT when they did not care one bit about botting and hacking in L2,just STOP supporting them.

Yeah riiiiiiight...

All I see is that they protect people like OP from their lack of judgement. But they don't listen, and they think they know better.

I think Anet did a pretty good job on bots.  Most obvious bots don't stay long in an area before they are cleaned up.

I used to see those orr people before, usually guardian killing random mobs.  I'm not certain if they are actually bot or players that like to kill random mobs 24/7 for little rewards.  But they are suspicious.  But I no longer see it any more.

There are bots in just about every mmorpg.  I'd say, GW2 is one of them which have the least bot problem.

If you are really that certain the guy is a bot, maybe report him again and say in some description.  I think Anet probably thought your report is a false alarm so no action is taken.

@Gaia

Are you really that naive? All bots have the feature to automatically sell their loot and repair their armor.

Pnozen dies a hundred times a dayj; respawns at the beginning of the botter road; sells her loot; repairs her gear and off she is again on her merry way.

In my bot thread I even pointed out that the teleport bots in Frostgorge teleported next to the npc to sell their loot.

@laokoko

I reported bots like Pnozen, The Ancient Snake, Fire Nation Refugee, Veronica Ashford and many others so many times and so have other people who actually play in Orr. Anet is completely ignoring that.

On this forum people simply say I am wrong. I invited them to guest on my server to see for themselves whether the people I listed are botting or not but no one ever did that. It's easier to just say I am wrong.

Why see for themselves?

Anet is flawless so there is no need to investigate.

In my bot thread I even pointed out that the teleport bots in Frostgorge teleported next to the npc to sell their loot.

@laokoko

Some people fail to see the world without their own rose-colored glasses. Others get paid to see it that way. At any rate, you are just wasting your time. You can't have a discussion with people like that.
