OP  2/23/14 7:32:10 PM#1

After almost a year away from GW2 I thought lets try it again. I did mostly spvp before and did level a thief up to lvl 35.

Some days ago i started again playing, changed the realm and started with a different class from scratch.

I am almost lvl 30 and quiete bored already with PvE questing.

* on every map the quests are copy & paste

* same escort quests, similar area defence/attack quests, same group boss quests....copy & paste

I did finish around 7 maps altogether so far, I did also do maps from other races with a similar lvl range.

Iam playing currently on one of the biggest EU servers called "Seafarers Rest".

The population on the pve maps in my lvl range from 1-~30 are almost none existent, only sometimes you see a handful people playing. That means most of the time you dont do group events.

Question:

Does the copy & paste type of PvE questing i.e. escort quests and so on will stay the same up to lvl 80 ????

ya, it's called stop looking at the exp and renown bar.

It's pretty boring if all you do is pick up an item to fill a bar and repeat that process 100 times.  But it's much more fun if you are trying to catch fish to feed the cub.

enjoy the landscape, scenery, lore.

the reason you see no one is because most people are on their high levels this is why i was worried about all those large group required events at low level cause i knew after a few months low level areas would be a ghost town they always are in all MMOs without some kinda incentive to go bck and visit those areas.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.

ArenaNet should improve their questing system (no doubt about it) but even though it is the same questing as every other mmo out there, the way they did it makes it feel the best questing to this day. To ME personally GW2 questing became the standard in mmos since it launched. Its not perfect but it is way better than the old wow / eq2 questing generic ways of doing quests. Any questing inferior to it is dead to me. That is why i am hugely disappointed with Wildstar that decided to have that old awful questing that im sick of doing in the same old way im sick of doing it. I would have loved WS if at least it had GW2's questing.

Agreed, but also people tend to play certain maps more. Zones like Brisbane wildlands are rather rarely played while it is easier to find players in Kessex peaks for example. For lvl 30 I would play Gendarran fields since there usually are a bunch of players there (And I play on Seafarers as well, OP).

I do recommend OP to find a nice guild which helps alot, there usually are others who don't mind playing through lower level maps, if nothing else for 100% completion. Another thing is that when you see a few other players join them and follow them around, grouped or not. Most players welcome some help.

The living story also tends to make many zones ghost towns for a time, right now most of Seafarers are in Lions arch rescuing citizens and beating on Scarletts minions and that kinda empties out  many zones pretty badly, but the rewards are really nice so we just can't help ourselves.

The problem with any MMO past the first few months is that people tend to be more in high level zones making it tough for noobs.

One good thing is that OP almost is ready to start with dungeons and getting groups for that is generally rather easy and that makes leveling faster.

Joining a nice guild is the best way to enjoy a MMO for most players. :)

I would like to know which other games have quests different than escorting, collecting, defending area or attacking area because they all seem to follow the same pattern - at least GW2 events make quests actually happen in real time.

With the exception of a few Group Events (and the world bosses) most group events can be soloed, even against champion bosses.

Also I'm not sure what you have been doing - my lowest level character is a level 49 Necromancer and he has completed exactly 2 areas and has 12% world exploration.

I'm on Desolation server.

Queensdale at 12:30 this last Sunday looked looked like this when I was doing a black lion key run.

Oh look, overflow.

Of course there was a patch last week and everyone and their mothers is focusing on the new stuff in LA.

Or one can just call a champion in map chat and generally there will be a couple of people interested.

Although communicating in a MMORPG is probably something of the past...

My first character to 80 was a blast. Exploration is really fun, especially when you accidentally stumble on a jumping puzzle. The second and third time around... not so much. I like PvP so I leveled my other three toons to 80 through WvW. They recently updated sPvP, which gives you a reward that levels you up.

Some tips:

- Harvest every node you see -- it gives you XP.

- Bored in PvE? Jump in WvW or sPvP. I found that PvE is easy mode, and PvP lets you learn the nuance of your class.

I agree with the questing being boring but try to enjoy the scenery otherwise on lower level people are doing trains in queensdale just going around killing world bosses to level fast.

Trains are boring but easy to level up. But you were around lvl 30 then I would go to gendarran fields in the south cause living story is coming to it's end for this season so many people are playing that in lions arch and there you will level fast, altho it's lvl 80 you will get bumped up to 80 when you join and gaining levels fast.

There is also the new WvW map "Edge of the mists" and this one I realy love alot, you level fast and it's alot of fun.

so there is a few pointers.

I love desolation, I play on Gandara but we suck at pve stuff so when we want to complete stuff we always guest your server :)

I'm doing quite the opposite. After 5 months of inactivity I find myself enjoying the game again by not rushing to lvl 80 slaying centaurs repeatedly. I'm also loosing it up abit, no longer will I have to buy the cheapest armor on my third character at lvl 35, I can enjoy greens or yellow armor weapon knowin I will get a new set after 6 lvls. However, since I have a frugal style of spending, it still takes me a few hours to prep every 6 lvls, hunting at the trading post (new weapons, armors runes, trinket, buffs) selling my wares, and keeping things that I think I might need after reflecting on it. My genetic obsession, most activty has to be planned and opportunity maximized keeps me from being fully engaged in game. It has been this way since gw1.

Building and battling Gunpla is merely a hobby. Unlike the Mobile Suit Gundam story, we're not in a state of war, and we don't have to put our lives on the line. It's just played for pleasure. You're absolutely right. But... No, for that very reason people can be enthralled by Gunpla and Gunpla Battle. Because they like it, they can take it seriously. — Ramba Ral

The one game that didn't just copy and paste WoW's stale linear quest grind leveling and people complain... /sigh

I got a lvl 20 boost and a 24 h 100% birthday boost when I came back on all of my alts. Fastest way is basicly just do trains pretty much. If you're the only person around go around do hearts / story and gather everything you see. That really is the fastest way to level from my experience.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

But what the OP wants is a fun way to level to 80, not the boring grind and rush method...

Leveling is very fun in GW2 if you are not in a big hurry, and just do what seems interesting.

If you are in rush, there are grindy ways to level as well. And guess what? It's still more fun than leveling in most MMOs.

And I doubt very much that the OP actually plays the game, if he thinks the quests are copy/paste. Certainly they are less so than in most games.

After leveling 9 max level characters, I can safely say that getting to max level is a minor part of the game, so don't dwell on repeating quests. It should only take you 60-70 hours of play to go from level 1 to max level. Maybe less if you know what your doing. I did a warrior in 1 and a half weeks. Some of the best exp is jumping on the zerg train in queensdale. Sure, it gets boring, but it does not take long to max level so don't worry about it, just do it and get it out of the way!

To be honest I tried to get to 80 three different times in GW2 and always got bored before making it. I finally blew my gold on one guy crafting just to finish off his last 9 levels and then the end game was so boring I just quit anyway. If only the PvP wasn't so awful maybe I could have stuck with it but PvE with no threat of PvP is just boring and their WvWvW is awful.

THERE IS NO POINT IN DOING IT, nothing worth doing once you get there.

It is one of the quickest way of getting to max level, nothing more!

Being in a hurry to get to end game is the wrong way to play this game, as, if you level up to around level 65 you should have enough mats to get the rest of the way just by crafting.

Of course if you do it zerg train way and salvage most of what you get from drops, you could also finish you rush to max level by crafting!

I've pretty much leveled all of my characters via WvW with a little bit of story quests and exploration mixed in. Escape from Lion's Arch has been a fun way to get levels on my engineer as well.

Don't do just one thing too much, obviously you'll get bored. Mix things up.
