You make it sound like there is no way around for gold sellers, lol. Allot of gold sellers buy gold from normal players for really cheap rates and sell them high.

Gold sellers are really resourceful, something like this won't stop them at all.

Yea but 500 is a bit small to make that work.  Even a large alliance could easily cross that limit.  I don't mind the mechanics of no auction hall but Zenimax should give us the tools to build our own trade networks than.

I'm in 2 minds about this.

 

Personally, I think it opens up a wealth of opportunities for RP and meta-gaming (like the AH Guild in the above quote). You could even play as a Merchant/Broker and just belong to 5 different AH Guilds, moving goods between the different guilds.

 

However, I doubt that the average player is going to like this setup very much. I've been active in many MMO's as a crafter, and I know how much players bitch about "inconvenience", "wasted time" and "lack of choice/supply" when it comes to buying and selling stuff.

Potentially, yes.

 

Your guild is free to restrict it's membership though.

 

Just make sure you keep 50 members, otherwise your guild bank goes away

Regional economies aren't bad but I have to agree this is a bid ore tighter on controls. I suppose it does what it sets out to do in keeping big guilds active (or making it an incentive to join big guilds) but at the same time it has to be refined at so many levels; chaos isn't bad but a sporadic economy isn't anything much better.

Great Idea and a throw back to old school MMO's. Players who cut there teeth with WoW will have to adjust and learn to communicate with others on a global level. In SWG after a run on the harder planets players would sell their goods in the star ports on return. Crafters became will known and I had about 6 shops marked on my map whom I would visit for my gear.

In GW a designated spot in one of the cities (can't remember the name) became the location for all crafters and traders to sell and buy goods. After questing I'd stop by this location and see what people are selling. We will probably see something similar in ESO. Designated locations in each alliance will turn into the market and that is where players will go to buy and sell along with the Guilds selling their wares in Cyrodill. I don't expect global chat to be spammed once these spots establish.

MMOs today everybody just dumps their stuff into global AH based on the price the person who dumped their items before them. No thinking, no interaction, just dump and run.

Well, you can belong to 5 different guilds at the same time, so "guild hopping" may not be that neccessary.

 

I have no idea how you can belong to 5 diff. guilds simultaneously and contribute to all of them, though. Weird concept

Its a bit restrictive, perhaps the emphasis of the game is not really about crafting, beyond a few items within a guild. Dedicated crafters are probably not going to be encouraged/supported in this game, if you can only trade with maybe 299 people then requirements are going to be very low anyway, given that the PVP part of the game is where things are really focused, this is probably not a bad thing, they probably want people focused on that rather than busy farming/crafting.

Yeah sounds absolutely terrible. Something tells me ESO crafting will be for personal use. I don't think there will be much market play...

When I eat chocolate chip pie it just doesn't feel like chocolate chip cookies. The texture, the consistency, it's just not the same and this is disappointing.

Player/guild owned shops are fine but this system is a bit too introvert, basically if you're not a member of a guild the only way to use an auction house (which IMO is the safest way of trading in MMO's) is to go into a WvW area. If you're not into PvP then this is basically forcing you to step into PvP.

Secondly with only a few hundred players per guild you're not going to see much competition or a good variety of items being sold at once.  It will also lead to a lot of guild hopping as people hunt down the best deals on specific items.

a) you DO have a global AH

So true, even when they agree they disagree, just for the sake of disagreeing. Kinda the opposite of the type of community most expect in this genre as people are supposed to work together. Hope companies get better at listening and using statistics cause listening to players doesn't work "well maybe a very small %".
