I like games.

If people would look into WildStar and see past what they perceive as cartoony graphics then they may see something that has depth and enough content to keep players involved for years to come.

Just putting my 2 copper in here since I think people are overlooking some nice features that shine in WildStar.

Ratero.

Well said. There does seem to be alot of people who think their opinion is fact here, and few who seem to have researched either game to any length.

Personally TESO felt like just like skyrim, and I didn't really feel that control scheme lent itself well to an mmorpg after playing it. Wildstar will be more my style in terms of control. After seeing Gw2's attempt at horizontal progression and DAOC-style endgame I found out I actually prefer vertical progression which is why WIldstar is so perfect for me.

I want exactly what Wildstar is offering, and I'm sure as more people hear about what makes it worth the sub, more people will get into it. At the moment there is still a lot of people who think the graphics and art style really matter in the long run. Hell Rift has some of the ugliest art and character models in the industry and they're still around.

I predict TESO will do well on consoles if nothing else but its longevity is dependent on how well the endgame is, and that remains to be seen. I predict that Wildstar will surprise a lot of people once they try it out. The amount of endgame content they already have combined with all the modern features and original touches will make it a game you can get into for years to come.

1.  The OP forgot it for both, because both have add-ons, just the add-on community for ESO is so far beyond the NDA that beta testers don't get to speak to them, but they are working directly with ZOS.  I definitely agree add-ons for both put them as unique compared to a lot of MMOs out now.

2. Hard to tell when all we have seen or heard is noob level crafting and nothing beyond starting area but it is supposed to be a lot more complex than previous games.  So hard to tell but I will give Wildstar the benefit of the doubt on this one.

3.  This one I will give you, no housing in ESO until sometime after launch

Also, I would just like to say I wish both games the best.  They are both in a unique position to become big hitter long term games do to how they are handling themselves from a design perspective.  I can't speak to EQN because it's too early, they don't have anything but intentions and plans right now, but I still wish them luck.

I'm trying hard to forget this latest pre-order atrocity by ZOS - but it's a challenge.

But, if I look at the games themselves (both of which I may or may not have played) - Wildstar is very, very far from my thing. In fact, and this is no exaggeration, a negative physical reaction was provoked by it.

Now, if you don't mind an excessively cluttered UI, a bland cartoon world, dreary non-voiced quests of the fetch/kill variety, endless numbers spamming your screen, and the worst stealth animation in the history of stealth animations - I guess Wildstar is fine.

ESO was pretty much all positive for me. My primary issues were minor, and including some awkward animations here and there - and atrocious lip syncing. Almost everything else was refreshing and engaging.

That said, I'm an immersion guy and I like to pretend I'm actually in the world of the game. I hate "gamey" crap like an assault of bright colors and flashing quest markers everywhere. That should give you some idea of what I'm like.

But, to be frank, if you love games like WoW and Rift - I think Wildstar could represent an interesting take on the same thing. It's clearly not trying to be very unique, but it's offering a lot of little twists - and I must admit the character system and progression mechanics seemed quite involved. The combat system was more active - because everything was done with AoE cones - meaning you're never static hitting just one thing over and over.

So, my issue with Wildstar is less about design and mechanics - and more about art style and overall tone/feel. I HATED that about it, but that's me.

Currently I prefer WildStar over ESO as the gameplay looks more smooth to me. However, I might change my mind after I see a real gameplay from player not from developer.

Eso has limited skills? There's a lot to pick from unless you mean number of skills. Then I'm not sure, as I don't remember how many are in WS. I know teso has 12 customizable skill slots. Or more if you count light attack, heavy attack, interrupt, dodge, block, sprint, sneak. Teso pvp starts at lvl 10 and you can lvl in it.

For me Wildstar mostly revovled around spamming the shit out of my 1 key. It also has standard exclamation text quests while teso questing was far more interesting to me. After playing both my opinion is that wildstar is gw2 combat with a wow skin. Teso combat was really enjoyable, especially with the option to slot out bars and build in any way you want. Not really sure what I'd even compare it to. Reminded me a little bit of guild wars, original one not 2.

Your list was mostly opinion :(

ESO has 5 skill slots, one "ultimate" and one slot for consumables. You can switch between 2 weapons later in the game.

From videos, Wildstar seems to have 8 slots for skills + a few additional ones for other stuff (I don't know what, didn't play the game).

I agree with the above poster that we can't compare the two games with pros and cons while one of them is under NDA. Even afterwards, they remain two very different experiences.

One thing that people who plan on playing ESO should reflect about though, is this:

Selling your wares in The Elder Scrolls Online

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

Selling your wares in The Elder Scrolls Online

It has 12. 5 for skills and an ult, then on your second weapon you get another 5 slots and another ult. Works like GW2 weapon swapping except you pick all the skills and you aren't locked to the weapon. The one consumable spot is changeable, you can slot 8 things and the button is to activate the item.

These are purely feelings that I have about both games, but I think TESO will have better story and adventure feeling to it, and Wildstar will win the endgame. I have not played either of the games, just simply a hunch about the games, could end up either way though.

I'm trying TESO first since the pre-orders are open now and I did order it, and I will play it until I get bored there but I feel like that might come sooner than later and I end up in Wildstar for long term play.

Then again, most likely scenario is both games are standard themepark crap after the leveling is done and does not offer anything interesting when it comes to longevity, just tiny engame pockets like themeparks tend to do, meaning by the end of the year it's back to waiting for a big budget sandbox :) ?

Comparing these both Games is like comparing Apples and a Submarine. It's not possible for many reasons, which most of them are under NDA. But from what we know, i think it's safe to say that both Games go in a different Direction. That alone makes them not to compare each other.

I love everyone who complain about Wildstar's "Cartoony" graphics. As if that stopped WoW from being the best MMORPG. As if most cartoons, including My Little Pony a cartoon meant for 5+ year old girls is not immortalized by a more grown ups. MALE grown ups in the case of My Little Pony. (Sorry to mention it here... >.>)

If the game flops I can tell you this... It won't be because of the "cartoony" graphics.

Why is it said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions? Is there a shortage of bad ones?

ESO: Artistry and graphics suitable for an Elder Scrolls Universe.

Wildstar: Artistry and graphics suitable for anyone with a Commodore 64 and higher.

ESO: Story, voice and quest tries to immerse you.

Wildstar: Wall of text similar to WOW to ignore.

ESO: More serious, mature tone.

Wildstar: Goofy tone.

ESO: Action based combat.

Wildstar: Action based but telegraphed dodge the red shapes on the ground combat.

ok ill give this a try as im not a fan of either.. which ill explain later. So here goes....

ESO designed for 12 year olds and portrayed for adults.. nice try though.

Wildstar: for everyone and honest about it...

ESO linear questing in an open world like WoW.. nothing happening here folks please move on.

Wildstar: multiple quest lines job lines and open world content quests as well as end game continuation quests ... thats what I know of so far.

ESO graphics and art equal to the RPG world yeah it better be or the fanbois would be up in arms. But as has been proven in the past graphics mean squat if you cant deliver. btw remind me whos making this game? how many MMORPGs have they worked on?

Wildstar Cartoony graphics Worked well for WoW for many years cant call it a downer.

ESO Story/voice.. ok got it lets hope its as good as SWtOR voice missions....

Wildstar Its a pvp MMO who needs voice?

ESO more mature.. and this has always sold well....

Wildstar goofy tone.. and might I add far more popular than you may think.

ESO action based combat.

Wildstar Action based with telegraphing AoE's well ill tell ya, i am one of those who gets kind of tired being hit with an aoe because I dont know its there.

Wilstar is WoW meets TF2.. simply put both are well loved games and haters gonna hate.

ESO is a lore based game like WoW was in the day. It has promise however as publishers go i have faith they will screw it up like they have done other promising games in the past.

But im neither interested nor caring about either as Im a fan of Star Citizen and hopefully Citadel of Sorcery for my MMORPG fix. To me if either of these games is going to be successful itll probably be Wildstar over ESO due to Wilstars being more "kid friendly intros"

Played: UO, LotR, WoW, SWG, DDO, AoC, EVE, Warhammer, TF2, EQ2, SWTOR, TSW, CSS, KF, L4D, AoW, WoT

Playing: WoT and anything else to break the boredom until something better comes out.

Tired of: Linear Quest games, Dailies, and Dumbed down games

Anticipating:Star Citizen,Citadel of Sorcery

what do you mean when you say wildstar has pvp leveling the whole game?

anyway.. it does feel that ESO has something to hide..

NDA + preorders.. Cinematics and never ingame stuff (or very very little) feels like swtor all over again.

on the other hand, wildstar feels childish (didnt test it yet though) from what i have seen..i feel like i out grew that style..

it might be fun..

one thing for sure.. i have forced myself NOT to pre order ESO because of what i feel.. wont be buying it unless i will be able to play the beta.. or a lot of the ingame stuff will be released.
