The longer time goes on, the more im realizing that mmos are just not for me anymore. even AA could not over come to need to mainstream and cowtow to the greatest common denominator, casuals. It seems yet another promising MMO has sold out and its about time that i bow out.

Grind is not for casuals. Sandbox games cater more to casuals than any other type because you are not locked into any kind of grind, can log in for 10 minutes and actually accomplish something and log back out. Adding things like dailies, grind to crafting and a heavier aspect on gear is for hardcore western players.

This is a post on the internet so it must be true...

Look, if it is true then indeed it is bad news. And even if this is not true there are a million other ways in which AA might not live up to our hopes and expectations. It wouldn't exactly be the first to be a disappointment. But seriously, this is one persons post and we know nothing about them.

Chill out.

Wait for NA or EU beta

Try it out.

If you have fun, buy it.

If you don't have fun... don't buy it.

really pretty simple.

All die, so die well.

Agreed.

When its getting close to releasing in NA then I will take a look and see if its worth the buy.

So far Trion couldnt even carry the game further than into some elusive friends and family alpha.

At this pace the game may very well not get old enough to ever reach 1.0 on the western market.

Did anyone in this thread even read the entire topic? This guy is basically blowing smoke and is mad cause he was ganking people as a pirate and getting loads of Delphi coins while other people were being forced to pvp to get the coins which are needed to buy houses, blueprints and furnishing.

You all are hyping this out of context and should all be ashamed of the hype you all are creating. Try reading for once, these changes are good and balance things so everyone can get Delphi coins without forcing people to play a certain way.

And down goes the most recent champion for the true sandbox MMO experience!

Will another daring challenger arise, or is this game over for the so heralded sandbox style?

Too bad they are messing up this game, anyways ESO seems to have improved alot so there is still hope for a good MMO this year.

No actually he is not. 1.0 has been in beta testing in Korea for a while now which is why Korean players are so upset. As I stated in my first post, several of the Japanese players I play with in Japan were irate about the changes as they were also in the Korean beta.

These are not small changes, these are big changes to core gameplay. The very appeal to the game is its casual sandbox and hardcore PvP sides, both of which are being hammered down. This is not saying the entire update is bad, even the poster in that thread did not say it was.

You don't make core changes like this to a game that has been released for so long.

Read the end of the thread, it explains it all there, you now get gold and craftng materials from trades and Delphi coins from daily's, that is as much if not more incentive and makes more sense. This guy is jumping the gun and getting excited over a balance, it isn't like people are not going to pvp cause they can get Delphi coins from dailys.

This is blown out of proportion big time, apparently alot of people here want to see this game fail and it's kind of saddening.

Yes there is still hope and its not ESO. EQ Landmark, and we may even get lucky enough to get a Blade and Soul or Bless launch this year.

What are you smoking........they are ADDING GRINDING. The game didn't have it before and that is why you are wrong. They are not adding anything for casuals, the game WAS FOR casuals. They are adding grind, which is for hardcore players.

How in the world is that P2W, since when does Costumes and Mounts make you stronger lol

LP = labor points.  It determines how much power and epic-ness you can acquire in a given play-session.  It affects everything from farming, crafting, up to PVP, gear consumables, etc.  It is hard-capped by region, with F2P having a lower cap than subscribers.  But it is still hard-capped.

Putting LP into the cash-shop makes it unlimited, bound only by someones bank account.  Trion should just stick to costumes, mounts, illusions, and house furniture :P [and avoid EA-ifying their version]

wait, so LP is basically a cap on how much you can play productively?  So if you have a day off and you want to craft, you can only craft x items?

If thats indeed how it is thats just atrocious game design.  Its ok as a f2p restriction, but subscribers should never be limited like that.

grind isnt a hardcore/casual thing.

EQ1 was full of casuals.  Way more casuals than hardcore.  Casuals just want to have fun, and grinding does not always mean not fun.  Just depends on the content and also the player.

I've sort of given up on this game turning out to be good. I was pretty excited for it for awhile, but the more I wait, the less I care.

I think Trion should have bought the license and develop the game their own way, they should not be just publishers.

What was exciting about AA was the mix of Sandbox and Themepark elements.

If AA is going to be another Themepark, it hold no interest to me.

Also Trion has already a good Themepark MMO, what is the point of publishing a MMO that is going to cannibalize their own player base.

The type of grind in the update is a hardcore thing, just like some of the EQ grind was not done by casuals because no casual would ever camp a location for 12 hours HOPING for a mob to pop.

Daily quests are not for casuals, it makes the game more like a job. Making it so you MUST do instances for rare crafting materials is not for casuals, that makes instances a grind which is for hardcore players. And also the changes to LP is not for casuals. So sorry, this update is not making the game for casuals like he claims.
