Bots are pretty easy to see if you stick around to see their pattern. I used to report people in WoW all the time. Was my favorite hobby.

And no he was not afk but I won't bother posting screenshots cause I'm sick of the "no proof" comments.

It works like this.

You think you saw a bot.

You report.

Anet will then investigate if it is a bot or not and then they will ban it if it really is a bot and/or if it is convenient for them to ban that type of bot.

What is silly is claiming that Anet that always had a heavy hand with any kind of exploit (even those that is mainly their responsibility and in on other games would just a developer "oooops" and get patched) stopped banning them.

Perhaps tomorrow will be better.

FYI .i am not 100% sure but pretty sure, apparently the first bot was made for Quake :) Then it infested Unreal..UT99 for years.

Point is if you know about bots they are VERY easy to spot.

BTW devs are real cheap and lazy not just Anet but all of them. They usually have VERY few people involved with botting ,exploiting and usually only devote a few days a month to it,like maybe every 15th or 1st of the month. As the other poster mention he used to see it every 2 weeks, that sounds about right but i am sure since then they do it only once a month for maybe a day or two. They will only care or put an effort if their is a major exploit with big implications.

Why is it silly? He saw a bot. He see reports them. He sees the same ones for months doing the same thing. He complains. It isn't like he can't tell it isn't a bot. They are quite obvious. What is silly is blindly defending a company while implying that someone has no idea of what they are talking about. Sad really......

Nope they aren't very obvious. Some of the new bots are pretty complex.

That is why sometimes real players get banned by Anet when they ban bots or exploiters, which is way worse than not hastily banning a bot.

Also that particular veteran mob that kept killing the necro can be very nasty especially if the statue effect is triggered - a squishy character going to get all the cypress saplings there can be downed and killed very fast.

But I'm sure you are still playing GW2 daily and are really up to what GW2 bots do and look like.

Just another day of GW2 bashing.

Honestly Gaia, I always respected you as defender of GW2 but now you are just posting nonsense.

First you said there are banwaves and I should simply wait. I waited for 4 months and nothing. So you changed your mind and implied that I am simply wrong and can't differ a bot from a silent player.

But yeah talk is cheap.

We will set up a date and take a stroll around Orr. I want to see you deny the obvious bots when they are all around you.

Want to make it harder for me? Then I will guest on your server where I have to spot bots I never saw before.

You know that really you have no proof of any of these.. I mean, of course there are bots, no doubt. But what do you gain by reporting?

Simple example:

In a game with bots: you can sell a cookie for 5euro and you buy one with 6euros.

In a game without bots (lets say): You sell a cookie for 10euros and you buy one for 9euros.

There is absolutely no difference. Bots farm they sell what they farm then they sell the gold and someone else uses that gold to buy other things.

Why you have no proof of anything? Do they have to pm you back? Or answer you? You can also have the chat hidden, btw!

Instead of doing bullshit, enjoy your game, bots wont harm your gameplay. What do you expect? RPG with no bots? It will never happen dude. Anet makes TONS of money from the botting accounts. Thats why they NEVER perma ban the first time, because they count that someone wont have the necesery info to do a proper ticket to get the account back.

What do you think that feed their cash? Your 20euro gem card? Or your one account?

And in the other side the at least 10-20 accounts a botter has?

Wake up, you wont go to the MMO-Gamers paradise even if you "manage" to "ban" 1M "people".

There are bots in pretty much any game.

I went with the OP and we saw 4 possible bots in Cursed Shores (Malchor's Leap seemed clear) - one was pretty old bot style running a small circle with its ranger pet, a mesmer one was better but its pathing had loads of 90 and 180 degree turns (for those that play they move similar to dynamic events NPCs that after killing the enemies go back to again move forward). A necromancer that potentially was a bot was way harder to differentiate.

Still, I surely hope that it takes more than just my report to ban a player as sometimes one is semi afk (talking or on the phone) and plays a bit weird.

4 bots in one of the biggest European PvE servers isn't that much.

Lets see how long they stay there but banning bots one by one is quite a waste and just incentivize better bots - preferably one wants to automatically detect them.

We found 3 bots on our short trip which isn't much but not unusual just 12 hours after a patch.

I will only post 2 screenshots each bot to show the timeframe in which we tried to contact the "players".

Houlioz

Mesmer bots are kind of unusual but they do exist. This one was using the same setup as The Ancient Serpent.

Kiual - this is depso the poster

Typical minion master bot and typical botter mentality.

"We are doing you a favor by lowering the price for all items"

Neurotica Hex - your average Ranger bot.

These screenshots aren't that great but I picked them cause Kiual felt like replying now 20 mins later.

This one is funny - Neurotica got stuck in a bush...

All in all a funny little trip and the attitude of Kiual is another reason why I encourage everyone to report botters whenever you see them. They aren't part of communities they just fill auction houses so much that all the items you farm for become worthless.

Reminds when i was ranting about lineage2 and botters. You wont really know if a company stopped caring, is caring less or whatever reason, and aruging with other people´s opnions that contradicts with yours about botters is not worth the headace.

People just get different impressions i guess, depending on what kind of things that attract they eyes as a annoyoence, or what they feel the need to pay attention to. For instance in Rust before facepunch, some players where under the impression that the offical servers didn´t have so many cheaters, then facepunch was modifed as an anticheat and activated for 4 days on the 9 offical servers only, where it banned over 4500 players.

My point is if your looking for it you see it more but it can also be paranoia sometimes, while other people might not notice it at all. So if you feel arenanet has started caring less about bots, who knows and you won´t really know and aruging with others of your impression can be like talking to a door.

Instead its probaly better to quit when you feel the companys action aginst botting/cheating gets too insignificant, and its annoying you´re play time of the game, instead of wondering, have they stopped caring?

I've never said there were no bots.

I've disagreed that Arenanet stopped banning bots.

4 bots in one of the most populated servers of the game isn't a bot infestation.

What bot free games do you know?

On the other hand none of the bots we saw are online currently.

I did this run with you since you implied that I can't differ a bot from a silent player. Are you still saying I can't differ?

The point was Pnozen who has been there for 4 months botting 24 hours a day. Can you give me a good reason why such an obvious bot was never caught up in the ban waves you mentioned? She was reported plenty of times since I did bring her to the attention of others on my server,  who frequently reported her.

Veronica Ashford is still there and that since July or so.

About just 4 bots being on your server,

You make it sound like those are the only ones who were actually there. We barely covered the Cursed Shore and still found these. Additionally the last patch had only been 12 hours before which always lowers the botter population.

I've said silent players aren't proof of anything and the screen shots aren't definitive proof either.

A video of erratic movement is a much more compelling argument.

Is Pnozen back?

I was again in cursed shores this morning and I haven't noticed any bots around the areas we spotted those bots. And as you said one of those is called the bot road for some reason.

And the guys we saw weren't on in the morning and aren't on now, so either they aren't 24/7 bots or they have been banned (I have a second account that can keep tag on them if they block my main one).

Ok you didn't see them, so obviously they aren't there.

How about it - add Kiual to your friends list and see for yourself how long it takes to get him banned.

I already added him and the other guys we saw.

I saw them online on the following day, but not since. I don't play 24/7 though and it might be that they play in invisible mode and/or that they relocated area/servers.

Had another look at the Cursed Shore today because I wanted to see what has changed.

The Megaserver makes the problem even more obvious.

About 75% of the map population are minion master necros. Never seen this many minions in one place before.

The rest were mostly rangers, warriors and new to the "popular" botting builds were guardians witch torches.

Out of the about 30 bots I reported today only 2 were semi afk answering me some minutes later - the rest was completely afk.

Also I noticed many of the minion masters were asuras all with the same headgear so I assume RMT behind some of them.
