Also the fact that all PVP is restricted to Cryrodil and your gear automatically scales in Cyrodil so everything is balanced, that part is fine but I want true open world pvp with no gear changes. Why the hell can't we have a game that allows all factions to play with each other? Since they are using shards, the PVE places would simply have a flagging system for pvp outside of Cyrodiil and a PVP Shard will have unrestricted pvp. I am really disapointed with this game, I was really looking foward to a first person MMORPG that doesn't have garbage gameplay (Darkfall unholy wars but still, I never played that). I really liked the gameplay in Skyrim and an Elder scrolls mmo with gameplay like that would be amazing but with all these stupid restrictions, this MMO will feel BORING.

I wanna see the enemy faction in their zones and I don't want all pvp restricted to Cyrodiil. Screw this game, at least there are true unrestricted open world sandbox type MMO's like Black Desert Online and EQ Next being made, sadly, these fantasy MMO's will probably not have a first person view that you can actually play in and see your sword/shield/staff.

we havent even seen the finish product not sure how anyone can know until it is out.

There's nothing wrong with opwpvp (WoW ruleset) It's FFA PvP (AoC B&G ruleset) that can be rough for some. opwpvp is almost carebear in comparison....would have been easy for a mainstream IP like ESO.

Go to Cyrodiil and stay in Cyrodiil. You will have open world PvP all the time there. For your ganking-low-level-player needs there is always WoW and many others.

gameplay > graphics

There should be, but it's far too late.

Video game development isn't an election. They make the game, you choose whether or not to buy it - that's when you vote. Petition all you want, they're going to make what they're going to make and succeed or fail based on that.

LOL You nailed it. Not that I'M going to play this game anyways but the op is the type of player that i'll never understand. A game like he wants would be a joke. Talk about going f2p quickly because of a lack of a playerbase. I think they think there's alot of them because they all post on game boards the same thing.

While I would prefer the type of game you would, for the health of ESO, I am glad they are doing it the way they are.

I've become dependent upon spell check. My apologies for stupid grammatical errors.

I feel reasonably certain that what they want to do is make a game that their customers like, rather than a game that a small number of people would be willing to pay for.

That way they can make more games, feed their families and in general feel good about themselves.

For every large, complex problem, there is a simple, clear solution that also happens to be absolutely wrong.

Thats exactly what OP is asking and he is wondering why they are not making such game, pretty sure you noticed that.

So, did ESO have a successful launch? Yes, yes it did.

like the game and therefore play it, or don't. LOL@ petitions to pressure game companies to make games just for them.

blizzard ruined everything when they started caving to whiners who whined the loudest and now it has spread to the overall mmo player base as a whole.

that said, cyrodiil should very much feel like an open world pvp area because of its sheer size and the pvp as well as pve content it has.

I want an mmorpg where pvp matters, my enemies are not my race or class, and community matters.

It's okay buddy.  Plenty of other games for you to play.  The grownups get one as well.  It's our turn, okay? :)

1.  The Secret World:  factions pve together in every pve zone...and pvp each other in a specific zone.

2.  World of Warcraft...do I really need to explain?

3.  Age of Conan:  No factions.  Just one gang banger group vs another.  Race doesn't matter.  Red = dead.

4.  Rift:  Mercenary system.  Again, race doesn't matter.

5. GW2:  Again, race doesn't matter. Guild v guild gang bangery.  Nothing epic here.

Firstly:

There's Elder Scrolls Online.  Three distinctly different realms.  The next generation of mmo will have the most reality mixed in in order to make it immersive. This is something terribly lacking in the industry.  So, for example, if it were the late Middle-Ages and you spoke French in England, you'd be executed.  If you spoke English in France...

So you can't cross group at all.  And no, pvp actually matters here, so you can't just rape Bob the builder when he comes home from work while you sat in your mum's basement all day grinding.

Unless you've played Dark Age of Camelot, this won't even make sense to you.

Secondly:

It's not nice to call Matt Firor's team idiots.  He invented Realm vs Realm vs Realm.  What have you done?

Have a nice day, sir.

they had a discussion with paul sage on elders scrolls off the record,

their must be artifitial barriers in the game that's just how mmo games work.

you are getting a game that is as big as 3 or 4 skyrims what more do you want

exept no sub. fee.

I would be happy with a flagging system like that had in SWG. So you can open world pvp if you want to.

Well at least that's more populated than the 10k players they'd have if it were OWPvP.

Even Worse it could have WOW, Lineage or EVE numbers.

The game model they are following will never match the population potential of OW

Were not talking about full loot Darkfall style, but the winning model is open world factions not closed, restricted RVR.

Then maybe you and I have a different understanding of what OW PvP. I thought OW meant all areas PvP all the time.

Flagging system would have been ok imo but fore me personally most problems with ESO are related to Daoc devs who just cannot think out of Daoc box. Daoc had 3 factions so ESO must have 3 factions. Pity really but nothing to do. I'll play it anyway but imo it would have been better game without Daoc devs.

yeah, OWPVP doesn't necessarily mean you can pvp anywhere, it means there is pvp in the open world and not just instanced.

Most if not all areas in WOW you could or had the potential to go pvp there so the world was in effect open world at least on the pvp servers. EVE pvp is not hard on new players because much like WOW its policed by a ton of NPC guards in high security zones. This is what makes them different from games like Darkfall where its open world full loot and burn your house down while they do disturbing things with your corpse.

My problem with games like DAOC and GW2 is that that style of RVR devalues toons. PVP is unimportant because its just one big zerg warzone that has no impact and removes the thrill of world pvp. PVE is pointless because you dont need anything other than the story other than that you can just auto max level in the warzone. You end up like GW2 with a bunch of bored players detached from their toons or in denial waiting for the next monthly, meaningless pve event to get some more skins.

I find it amazing that anyone would hold-up the WOW PVP system as an example of something good.

... the max level stealther who would kill all the auctioneers at the AH, restealth, hide and repeat when they re-spawned...

... the ones who would kill all the quest NPCs in lowbee areas...

... the ones that would camp a quest hub and kill everyone 40 or 50 levels below them...

Yeah... now that's manly PVP fun lol

And this bit... "...a bunch of bored players detached from their toons or in denial waiting for the..." scenario or dungeon to pop? hilarious

Tell it to someone who didn't play in a WOW PVP server... they might think you have a point...

Oh... and "zerg" is just code for "I like 15 minute scenarios and don't have a clue how to have fun in a 2-hour relic keep raid."

Do you think that it might be possible that these people who are developing these games have played as many or more MMOs than you, saw OWPVP for the pathetic gank-the-lowbee bore that it is and are designing something better?

...just a thought...
