LOL, do you know what the Cloud even is? That infomercial is from Microsoft expecting consumers not to know what Cloud really is. Yes, a Xbox will have more storage capability if its connected to a cloud network. But as far as transistors go. It gains not a single physical one when considering its performance. Game performance and video performance will still be the same.

Redundancy also plays a large factor in Cloud systems. This is especially important towards performance. As a  connection must be made to each and every system in the cloud unless it has a central system. Even then, you are still receiving second and third strings of data. Where a single system only sends out one stream.

So is it really powerful? Not really! Just will have increased storage. Not performance. Something to think about. Sony already uses its cloud network. I have 26 games on my PS3. Have 196g of memory left. And its only a 250 g machine. Its about time that Microsoft gets its product into the modern era of the cloud. Considering Sony has been in it for a while now. At least 2 years!

Also Sony only uses Cloud data to set up a game. Once its set, or programmed into your system. Its all system then. Why do they do it that way? Like I said above. redundancy and lower game performance if playing through a cloud machine.

Please, no more Smoke n Mirrors!

LOL, so now IGN is lying? Turn 10 is lying to us all about Forza 5? Isomniac is lying to us all about Sunset Overdrive?

Hatters gonna hate.

http://www.oxm.co.uk/56323/turn-10-explains-forza-5s-xbox-one-cloud-processing-actual-file-transfers-are-small/

PS4 will have only cloud storage. Xbox One will have cloud computing and cloud storage. Post links to what you are saying or dont waste our time.

Show me ANY PS4 cloud computing games. Like I said, I can keep going.

I currently got Xbox ONE preordered, it has the most exclusive games I like. The PS4 has ZERO. If I were to get a PS4 at launch it would be like buying an expensive paper weight.

I will probably get a PS4 later especially if they get old playstation games going through Gakai or whatever it is called, but I will believe it when I see it. Sony is all full of talk and no action.

The PS2 was going to be like the Xbox ONE with its HDD, being able to record TV and be used like a DVR but was not, and even the HDD never reached EU. Gran Turismo 5 was intended to be released 2009 and about a week before released it got delayed and never released for another year. When PS3 was announced there was a game in development by Team ICO and it still not released yet. The online service is always inferior to Xbox. They allowed their network to get hacked and the online service was offline for weeks, which was beyond incompetent. Sony were going to block used games and they have a patent in place to stop a game to show adverts.

Microsoft always do what the customer wants, and has plenty of money to throw around to make it happen. The original Xbox lead the way because they sold the console at a loss, the 360 lead the way as it had many games to begin with, and now with the ONE they are bending over backwards to please the consumer. They are giving FIFA 14 for free with every preorder, and if the console lags behind even more, they will no doubt give away more free stuff.

Tech of consoles or PC is irrelevant if devs do not take advantage of the tech. Dead Space 3 was a poor PC game as it was a direct console port and even used DX9 and not DX11, so the PC game was not any better than the console versions. Also FIFA 14 on PC will not feature the new Ignite system on PC but the PS4 and Xbox ONE versions will, so even you if you have a PC to blow the new consoles out of the water, FIFA 14 will still be better on consoles, as EA do not think enough people own powerful PCs to handle it, and therefore there will be low sales, so the PC version will be similar the Xbox 360 / PS3 versions.

The PS4 looks better on paper but will It be better in reality? Will have to wait and see after launch when people test them side by side.

I just can't justify paying $500-$600 for a freaking game console no matter how many bells and whistles they try to stuff inside. That's just crazy. I can almost build a Gaming PC for that... you know a REAL gaming platform. Not something that is totally non-upgradable and will already be made of obsolete PC hardware by the time it releases.

Bren

PS4 is only $399 and when you look at it PS3 came out in november 2006, so that is almost 7 years and still going strong. Try to build a gaming PC for 399 that will last you for 7+ years :P.

I am only getting a PS4 this time around, I spent way too much on my PC this year lol.

While that may be true in my opinion even $399 for what is essentially a fancy "toy" is too much. Like I said I may pick one up in a few years... Which one really depends on what exclusive games they each have. When I choose a console it's to play games... I have a Computer / Internet ready TV for the rest of the BS the are trying to put in what is essentially a gaming system. I'd much rather put that $400-$600 into computer upgrades (not that I need any I just built a monster rig back in January). To each his own I guess.

Bren

Hehe, I can't think of a reason to spend more money on my rig (my sig) and I have spare money, so might as well get a ps4 for exclusives I thought.

The only reasons I can think of to get an Xbox One over a PS4 are:

1)  Being a huge fan of Kinect,

2)  Being a huge fan of some Xbox One-exclusive titles,

3)  Getting a Microsoft employee discount price, or

4)  Not knowing any better.

Among people who will actually buy the Xbox One, I'd expect the usual justification to be (4).

The PlayStation 4 gives you far superior hardware for a much lower price tag.  Microsoft's backing off of some other anti-user policies may close the gap with Sony in those areas, but they haven't done anything to address the fact that they're charging far more for far inferior hardware.

If Microsoft could only attain rough parity with Sony in a generation when they made far more sensible hardware choices (Cell in the PS3 was a very, very bad idea), I can't imagine that having the hardware situation reversed will end better for them.

With the Xbox One, I'd worry about whether Microsoft is able to sell enough of them to get game developers to overwhelmingly be eager to develop for it, rather than many major games ignoring it for lack of market share, even without Sony buying them off somehow.  See, for example, Windows RT.

Far superior hardware? WTF are you talking about? LOL

Then again, this is the guy who said Oculus Rift can't work due to blah blah blah and then John Frickin Carmack joins their team and developers start expressing interest in it.... oh boy. If you had any idea what the specs were then maybe you'd say the same thing that other big developers have been stating... they are almost the exact same.

*edit and to beat you too the punch, the DDR5 ram won't make a noticeable difference in gameplay at all. The only thing that is going to make a difference is Microsoft has admitted 3GB fo ram will be reserved for the OS. With that said, you, nor anyone else really knows how Sony is going to utilize theirs. I am still smiling that you said Sony's hardware was far superior though HAhAhahAhAhahah.

Am I missing something?  What is with all the Xbox One hype?  They had a terrible unveiling and the damn thing seemed to be nothing more than a glorified streaming media player.  So what, all of a sudden they drop the connection requirements and allow game trading and everyone's good?  What else does the thing have to offer?  Why buy a device for one game?  Don't tell me you all aren't getting it just for Halo.

It not far superior, but still superior to that of Xbox One through raw power PS4's GPU has 1152 shaders and does 1.84TeraFlops/s,  whereas Xbox One has a 853 MHz AMD Radeon GPU w/ 768 shaders and does 1.31 Tera/Flops/s. But, I think they will both perform close to each other performance wise.

My choice for choosing a PS4 over the Xbox One is that it has a removable hard drive, this is important to me because I want to backup all my downloaded games through PS plus. And I like the controller better than the Xbox One's. The DRM stuff Xbox One had didn't bother me one bit, I actually liked it (have over 500 games on steam, it's the same thing basically).

I wandered into the living room and there was my daughter listening to music via her mobile phone.....while typing on facebook via her laptop.....while watching a movie on the big TV........and it all went click........the xbox one is tailor made for 12 year olds, people who don't have the patience to invest in a real game.

Yep....let's play Dead Rising 3....and call in an air strike via our windows phone......the kids will love that.

No. It is the games I am going after not the consoles

Xbox ONE currently has more exclusive games than PS4, unless you are looking to get into MMOs

I really put a lot of effort into wanting a PS4 as was dead against the DRM policies before MS reversed it, but Xbox just had way more games, that blew me away and even if they went ahead with the DRM I still would have chosen Xbox ONE over PS4 or chose neither.

Xbox ONE games I like the look of are Ryse, D4, Daed Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Sunset Overdrive, Crimson Dragon (spiritual successor of the Panzer Dragoon series), Quantum Break, Project Spark, plus the usuals - Halo 5 and Forza 5

PS4 has Knack, Killzone, Infamous, Drive Club and The Order 1886. Knack looks OK but nothing to rush out and get, looks a game to showcase the PS4, Killzone and Infamous did nothing for me on PS2/PS3, Drive Club looks OK and may get it, depending on reviews but Forza 5 will do for now. The only game that I would probably buy a PS4 specifically for is The Order 1886

Xbox ONE = 10 exclusives, PS4 = 1 exclusive, and that is why I choose Xbox ONE.

Also it will be getting exclusive TV shows - Halo and Blakes 7 (although I am more interested in Halo as it is done by Steven Spielberg who I am a fan of, not because of Halo, I am not exactly a Halo fan but it is a fun game)

When PS4 gets more games I want then I will get PS4 then. If PS4 does indeed outperform Xbox ONE, then I may get multiplatform games on PS4, and exclusives on Xbox ONE, otherwise it will be Xbox ONE as main console and PS4 for exclusives.

In the end I may not even get a PS4, at least the PS3 gave me a Blu Ray player, but with Xbox ONE and PS3 I will have two now as it is.

Now post like this I can respect. No fanboy statements just real reasons why he likes PS4.

I've had a PS4 pre-ordered since E3.  I had considered getting an Xbox for first time as I have a few friends that have gone that route in the past.  E3 pretty much reminded me why I have favoured Sony over Microsoft (even with hack), FMS!

With Xbox ONE you can use external USB HDDs, which will be more easily done. Removing a HDD from a console is more likely to error, as the  internal HDDs are not intended to be constantly swapped compared to USB.

What does they system have to offer? Are you that serious? Did you not see E3 when they talked about nonthing but games? It offers the same thing the PS4 offers which are games and also offers new innovations like Kinect, Smartglass and Cloud Computing. What new innovations does the PS4 offer? This is the question that nobody has been able to answer.

Sony's 'innovation' if you will is that its trying to cater to the video game player.

Why I say this is an innovation is because the majority of big name companies are in it for the money, hell even indie developers are into making a quick buck out of gamers.

Xbox One is trying to be something it will never be, and all inclusive tv box.  Hence the name Xbox 'One' trying to imply in its name its the only tv box you will ever need.  Not to mention MS has monthly chargers for just about every feature on the Xbox One.  While PS4 has PS+ that also gives you 'free' games.

At current there is no innovation in the console market.  There probably never will be.  Its too expensive and too much of a risk at this point in the corporate video game entertainment world.  We are no longer in an age where innovation brings large quantities of customers.  Familiarity and extra features, and simplicity is whats bring in the most customers.  Hence why more people are looking towards the PS4.  Not to mention the Xbox One reveal was terrible.  Why would you support a company that wanted to screw you over?

I pre ordered a ps4 I will probably sell it on ebay and get a next gen pc when I double my money from selling the ps4. Not the right titles are available yet for me to have a ps4. Microsoft is thumbs down so I wouldn't even consider it. If Ps4 would have launched with WoW and Eq Next then I would have kept the ps4.

I went 360 very late in the current gen's cycle but if I had to do it over again I would have gone PS3 instead. 360 has virtually no jrpgs except from early in 360's lifespan. That genre is pretty much dead on future MS consoles imo from here on out since most MS console owners don't like jrpgs. The kind of games that dominate MS's game sales are not really the kind of games I prefer. MS is great if you're a huge shooter or sports fan but don't want to play those genres on a PC (and many don't).

For those few XBoxOne games I'd want (Project Spark, possibly Titan Fall though iffy, a few others) - well...all the ones announced that I want are also coming to the PC and I'd rather play them there (Titan Fall on PC will likely end up having community made mods the console versions will never see for example). The PC community tends to foster some amazing fan-made mods - often for free. You don't get to see that kind of thing on either console really. And now with Steam's Big Picture output to hdtv's and support for gamepads for many Steam-purchased games it's starting to shrink the gap between what a PC gamer plays and what a console gamer plays. Unfortunately very few console gamers know about Steam Big Picture or the gamepad support.

The thing that interests me is the possibility of an entire new strata of 'core-gamers' that may evolve over the next 10 years. We currently now have the core primarily-PC gamers, the core-primarily-console gamers and the (much much smaller but still there) core-primarily-handheld gamers. I think in the next 10 years there will develop a strata that will be the core-'primarily-tablet/smartphone' gamers. As in..that will be their preferred (habitual) go-to platform for 'core hardcore' gaming. I don't think anyone will sit down and say to themself..."hey...I think I wanna be a core tablet gamer." I think it's just that over time that's what will evolve in their day to day living/gaming lifestyle habits. That doesn't mean they won't play other formats. But it will be a gamer-strata that just sorta ends up playing a preponderance of their preferred games on a tablet (or smartphone). And then there's the Dark Horse Oculus Rift. Dunno how that will play out.

The above was off-topic but one I've been interested in to see if it happens this next gen. Because if it does it will steal a good chunk of publisher/dev money from the other 3 platforms to be invested into the "new kid formats on the block" for blockbuster IPs.

To get to what this thread was about:

I wish I had the room to have both upcoming consoles. Unfortunately I only have room for one and since I like jrpgs and since exceedingly few jrpgs ever get translated and ported to PCs that means I'll be getting a PS4 (and Vita).

PS4.

Why? Is SONY. Starting with PS1, they were always with gamers no matter what, while Microsoft just want to milk every cent they can get from gamers ( replay that E3 event ) . Basically ,all they told us at E3 was : you need to pay for this, and for that ... oh yes, that too please. Wait, there is more, pay more. Oh, and this too - sorry we forgot about that .

But I agree, they gathered the masses ( kids mostly ) starting with Xbox 360. All their successful games were shooters and sports related, while SONY is more with RPG ( my favorite ) - Action games.

Microsoft BEST advantage is ...marketing. They really know how to do it. They have a VERY aggressive marketing. They invest a lot in it, and they also makes a lot of money.

Like Red-Bull . Red-Bull invest around 40% from their revenue in marketing and I think is the biggest % from all the big companies which invest in marketing like crazy.

Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!

Playstation 4 hands down, why? Quality. I've had my ps3 for four years now and 0 problems. good graphics, controllers that fit in your hand, Netflix, free access to the playstation network to download demos, movies, games. My personal favorite is the fishtank live screen, after a hectic day dealing with others, it's actually nice to sit back with a drink and unwind for a bit looking at a virtual 60 inch fishtank. On the other hand my brother just had to be different, got a xbox 360 two months ago, and has allready had to send it in for warranty once. Poor guy.

Gonada Dahung, over 20 years of mmorpg's and counting....Please Lord, let someone make a game that had all the awesomeness of UO, EQ and EVE...
