OP  6/13/13 4:50:57 AM#1

You won't get it here, you won't get it on your guild forums, and you won't get it on Age of Wushu's forums either.  There is a markedly lack of information out there about how to play this game, but there is a reason for that.  In a game like Age of Wushu, knowledge is power.  There is actually a taoist master walking around in Sudzou (or however you spell it) telling people to "keep their secrets to their selves".

People will tell you some things, others will tell you a little more, there are a lot of youtube video's out there that will tell you the basics, but NO ONE is going to tell you everything.

So if you try this game, keep that in mind.  And try not to get frustrated.

This has been a public service announcement.

I'll even throw you a bone for free.

The reason that you can't make that one item that your crafting master is asking you to make is not because the game is broken, it is because you haven't hit the right level for the recipe that you have to produce that item yet and this is a tutorial to show you that different items can come from the same recipe.

You have no idea what I am talking about of course, but when you get there, you will.

Actually people wont tell you because they just really don't know. Skills are poorly translated, and things that are supposed to mean one thing mean another.

Bonuses to skills show in different colors. If the bonus is from say..brawn then the color is red. Etc.

But if you test it...and take a potion or eat food that increase brawn, it may not affect things at all.

If you can't make a recipe the quest tells you to make, it's because it's mistranslated.

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

People will tell you the basics. Stuff like, to make money as a new player make enchanting mats. They are NOT gonna tell you how to increase your chances at a random encounter that gives a rare workstation.  They wont tell you how to get a rare recipe to produce items for a schools internal quest.

Knowledge is power, but even more so, silver.  There are no two characters alike. I can't stress this enough. No two crater the same. I will help you get started, but I will not tell you how to make silver darts, that's how I make money, that's my market.

I feel after 6 months I understand 80-85% of the game, why in the world would I tell you how beat my style, and why I hit so hard. I have titles to win, and rewards to reap.

After reading  bully's post i am quite sure that this game has one hell of community which goes out of its way to help one another and especially the new players. This is what alll MMOS need these days and world in general. People who care.

There is just to much. In a year or so there will be a guide for everything.

Wushu is NOT your run of the mill mmorpg. It's changed the concept to the point that even veteran mmorpg players will have to learn. This is a good thing. Who wants to play a EQ/WoW clone?

Have you noticed NO ONE has ever called Wushu a WoW clone?

Haven't played but the pve looks kind of lame but it's interesting how it's rock, paper, scissors so you can still out skill someone even if their better than you. From what I seen anyway. And the gave isn't really about pve? What do we do in it other than run a lot of quests or is that how we meant to play it. I'm tempted to look but snail games is putting me off.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

I give darts and XP pills to new Tangmen (my school). I give weapons and skills to new guildies.

We make sure new players are safe, and have the basics answered. Just don't ask me "what's good for pvp." or "should I cultivate my skills or my internal?" There's no such thing as a pvp skill, or a pvp set in Wushu. These are your decisions to make ;)

You quest for the boring tutorial after that NEVER quest again, unless you want to. You wont be rewarded for them. Well not rewarded like in other mmorpgs. You may figure out some gossip, or make a NPC like you, or you might not.

After the tutorial I literally did not quest for 5 months. Then I had to do my 3rd internal quests. I figured that I used to quest to level cap in other mmorpgs, I can handle a few of these

If you took all the quest out of Wushu, the game would not change. You will still progress.

If the player community can keep that up, I can easily see things like secret societies and elite (I don't mean that in a bad way) artisan guilds forming, that is if they haven't already.

I feel bcbully is being disingenuous here. If one wants to logically progress they will do spy missions, which are quests. (get x amount of information, turn in) Script steals (get item, turn in for reward) Instances(dungeons, kill bad guy, get reward) Crafting Quests (make items get reward) etc

The actual repeatable quests from NPCs just give pitiful amounts of xp and reputation.

Also, how the heck do you get rid of gossip once you get it? =(

My honest advice to anyone interested in this game is wait till it comes out in Europe. Gpotato is hardly a great company, but they don't have to do much to compare with Snail. They also seem to have better/different translation that might make the game easier to understand.

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

It's well known that I have never done a spy mission. I don't even know how to do them. When I started, I robbed escort carts  for XP pills instead of spy missions. I always felt my time was better spent doing something else.

In that time people were doing spy missions I was perfecting my style by robbing and killing. I made enough off the extra pills I stole to buy any of the school certificates (used for various school related things)I needed.

I love scirpt stealing. I try not to miss a night. I run some dungeons too. Dungeons is how I got my bound silver. I've never done a crafting quest either. I wouldn't know where to start. Well, I guess you talk to the guy next to your professions Shifu.

I'm being very genuine when I say, make your own way, find you own path. That's the beauty of the Wushu system, there are many ways to skin a cat.

Here's a video from a few months back of me robbing carts

I can offer one piece of advice from my time in wushu,

When you leave game you will do chores, but only if there is spare jobs in the town/city...

HINT **

Go to the desert when you log out, this place is sparsely populated at best plenty of work and VERY Very little kidnapping

Yes it will take you maybe 30-60minutes to get there form the main area, but once there set up one of the points you can port too and bingo every time you log off make sure you port to the desert.

I was making quite a lot of gold doing this, in fact my guys are still there and haven't logged in for a while.

Also to earn a bit of run around this area there are some nice crates to be found and opened that will drop some of the 'higher value' recipies. i made lots 'n' lots of unbound this way as well..

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game :) were of course your welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.
Use this code for 21days trial in eve online https://secure.eveonline.com/trial/?invc=d385aff2-794a-44a4-96f1-3967ccf6d720&action=buddy

As a vice guild leader, I find your statement rather offensive.

I'm a total open book to my guild.  They ask, I answer.  It helps build a cohesive community and gives you the obvious benefit of having low level players that know how to progress in the most efficient way possible - if they choose to do so.

I'm quite confident that I know everything you need to know about this game in terms of progression in it's current patch state.  Between the other five leaders and me, we have near encyclopedic knowledge of AoW.  There are other guilds that have full wikis being updated nearly daily.  To say that guilds don't give out information to their members is really ridiculous - all of the good (read: successful) ones to do.

I obviously don't know what isn't here yet, but I'm committed to testing new systems thoroughly as soon as they become fully available.  The next thing on the list is lore, once it is fully released.

Where you WON'T get good information is here, which is truly unfortunate.

My honest advice to anyone interested in this game is wait till it comes out in Europe. Gpotato is hardly a great company, but they don't have to do much to compare with Snail. They also seem to have better/different translation that might make the game easier to understand.

I'm not even going to lie, if Gpotato comes out with a polished version of the product, and a lot of people go there, I'll go there.  Not because I don't enjoy playing the American version of the game, but because I have made way more European friends than American ones since playing the American version.

How's that work anyway? LOL

I am never making the case here for Snail, they have to do that for their selves.  I am making the case for the game.

Yeah, I used to be that guy too.  Then I started getting people in my guild that didn't even speak English who were just there for the handouts and the info.  That's when I stopped.  It's a little unnerving when you log in and say hello, and people don't respond until 20 minutes later, after they've taken time to even notice, then had to open up google translate in order to figure out what you even said haha.

Not hating on the information brokers, but you know they just take that stuff back to their REAL friends and use it to oppress you later on in the game.  So no, I don't agree, I don't think that being an open book is the best thing for this game.

I believe that being a sensi, master, teacher, whatever you want to call it, of a school/guild/group or whatever, that is willing to learn by fighting beside you is the true way to go.  That way you both get to learn.  All telling anyone anything ever did was allow them to keep their own secrets while learning all of mine.
