I can't say i've ever heard someone ramble on about and explain something for 38 minutes without actually "explaining" anything.

The guy in this video seriously sounds like a brain dead zombie.

Considering the individual in question thinks this game is a sandbox, how much of an IQ quotient  did you really expect?

Screen shot of a pm after the Epic School War lastnight. I figured I put this here. "Reminds me of the glory days of EVE."

ignore the goldseller spam, we do ;)

When I eat chocolate chip pie it just doesn't feel like chocolate chip cookies. The texture, the consistency, it's just not the same and this is disappointing.

All I see in this game is a bunch of gold spammers and shops... However, this game is no where remotely close to the PvP action in EVE... Please stop comparing the two.

Well no he's not brain dead. However, all I saw from this what him explaining the basics of the game really. Which is fine, because he's almost correct with some of the stuff; not all of it but some. Unfortunately he personally lost credibility almost at the first moment when he stated that the game "did not actually have a leveling system". Which is completely untrue. When you select your school or even before then you have your "inner" skill which goes up to level 36. This essentially is your level. On top of that you have your individual skill leveling. There's plenty of leveling in this game and I'd personally edit that beginning part of his tutorial.

If you haven't notice You tube is the land of if it's fail it gets no likes or views. Obviously the video has a lot of likes and a lot of views. So it kinda doesn't matter if random people dislike or don't want to believe. The concensus pretty much rules and says the truth. Also to end it stop being so anal. Everyone but you apparently gets that the game really doesn't have a leveling system. Inner training is not your level it's called by the company itself a "Skill". Skill systems are not leveling systems and are not linear forced on you. In most cases skill systems are choices.

A leveling system will move regardless of what you are doing. The training chi in this game is a skill system and it's not mandatory. Two totally different things that even the makers of the game go through great lengths. To explain that in game and out. If you are going to talk about credibilty. Better make sure you know what you're talking about. And not be so biased and have the audacity to think you're opinion is law.

Hearing comprehension apparently isn't you're strong suit huh. Because plenty people understood as you can see in comments likes. Even the game dev's themselves used the video on the site. So sorry I wasn't all hyper active and geeky for you.

Who said my opinion is law? I'm just striking up an intelligent debate over whether or not Age of Wushu is a sandbox and there's a major leveling system within Age of Wushu that focuses your character around the "inner skill".

Like I said previously it's not a leveling system. It's a skill system akin to skill points in most mmo's. And similar to trade skills in eve, Neverwinter, etc. That work off time passively spent training them. Those aren't leveling systems it's just simply how you train in each game. Which is why I said this game has no real leveling system because that isn't one. It's also very possible you can go through your whole gaming life and never do it. Because it's not linear like a leveling system where it will force you sooner or later to lvl or gain exp. Gotta know the difference my man if you gonna stand on the soap box preaching.

I don't understand the comparison to WoW here, at all. The skill progression is more like Eve Online than anything. You don't get exp from combat, but from quests and spying/patrolling missions. You get cultivation points even when you are offline, as long as you have the exp. How many games do you know that let you get points, which you use for skills, while offline? Is that even remotely like WoW? What about the fact that you could kidnap and sell people who are offline? Is that like WoW? No safe zones. WoW? These are just a few things that make this MMO very unique and adds quite a bit of immersion and sandbox elements.

It's not a perfect game, but it IS fun. I'm currently waiting for Age of Wulin to finally go into Open Beta.

Because it isn't like wow at all lol.....It's different it's own game.

For instance someone saying this game isn't a sandbox. Because it has instanced areas ok.....So what it's a sand box with instanced areas. Like oh my god that can't be rage get mad demand it's title be changed. Come on now I don't get why people are so closed minded. Like something can't strive to be more then a simple label. It's called evolution and it needs to happen.

Whether it's linear or non-linear the leveling system is still within the game. and level 36 on any one of the "inner skills" that you choose is the max level. It's your choice to choose which inner you'd like to use. However, the inner skill are no more better or worse for the player in the end. 36 is you level cap.

Mtibbs that's wrong. Each school has 4 internals. Each has 36 levels. You must learn one before the other. My character  is max school 3rd (level 108) level 20 2nd interna of anothr school,  and 25 first internal of a 3rd.

These combined make me stronger.

Too bad you can't use more than 1 inner at the same time. Unless they completely changed the system in which the game plays.

You can tell the guy doesn't know much about the game.  For one he is running around in the very first armor piece given to you when you join a school.    He didn't even know what the purpose of the kidnap NPC was.  Also he doesn't even have any flying skills , except the tutorial one that you get for free that lets you jump a few feet higher.  Not saying the guy is necessarily a noob, but if you are going to use a video to prove a point, you might want to use someone who knows a little bit more about the game.  Like Wena, whom you obviously know in-game as Secret.

Towards the end of the video the guy says he will be making more AoW videos.  He only has made one other video in almost two months about AoW and it was about making an alt to keep your main fed. Seriously?  Steamed buns hardly cost anything so why even bother to make an alt for that?  It seems he went back to making GW2, Warframe, and Marvel Heroes Online videos after that.

My point to all this?  He isn't very credible for the argument on how much AoW is a sandbox.

Too bad you can't use more than 1 inner at the same time. Unless they completely changed the system in which the game plays.

You can only have one inner activated at a time, yes, but lvling up multiple inners helps a lot when it comes to things like Meridians (yet another lvling system in this game that can give you quite a lot of stats).

Mtibbs is right, though. There is most definitely a lvling system in the game, and there is a metric crapton of grinding needed to be done to progress through it. Each skill set functions like a class, and is bound to specific weapon types. Each school starts with 3 skillsets (classes), though u can unlock the others through either spending money or lots & lots of grinding.

The game also has very real vertical progression. While at a base lvl it has rock-paper-scissors combat, an Untapped Potential players stands no real chance of beating a One with Nature player, even if they were afk through most of the fight. Furthermore, the gear scaling in the game is a bit ridiculous. A character with the best gear is doing at least twice as much damage as someone w/ lower tiered gear, and taking half as much damage (or less). It may be a bug w/ external parry, but it's stupidly strong atm.

It's also not really a sandbox. The game is based around questing, grinding dungeons, and crafting. While the open PvP is fun, there are a lot of limitation to what a player can, and can't do in this game. Furthermore it has a lot of bugs & issues which makes it hard to enjoy things like the Bounty system, when players just glitch players out of jail instantly, or abuse it to lock players out of a war, etc.

The game is fun, but there seems to be a lot of bias towards it from certain people in this thread.

It's highly advised not to skill the self-recollection skill at all as it's a waste of points.

I've played this game since beta and can easily say that is game is by no means a "sandbox" in terms of the Elder Scrolls series. Sure the zones are "large" however this game isn't anymore of a sandbox than say World of Warcraft or Everquest. You almost never spend your time in the zones unless you're collecting resources for crafting the nodes are located on the map for you. You're typically in your school training, in dungeons, Dueling outside of Chengdu, and several other PvP events dealing with other guilds/ schools.

He does however, explain some of the basics down fairly well. But this does not show in any light how Age of Wushu is a "sandbox" game.

as have I. You know I don't do anything I don't want to? No two days have every been close to the same for me.

No dailes, no quest. No level cap. No hard factions. FFA PVP. Guild Wars, School wars. Territory control. Polotics, I could go on. In my opinion it's the most different mmorpg I've played in the last 8 years, besides EVE.

I can't believe anyone would call this game a sandbox

They are not wrong, you fail at proposing valid arguments - no one cares about china version, it's irrelevant to discussion about current state of AoW US.
