By that logic every MMO is a WoW clone lol. As a matter of fact just play WoW why even bother to play anything else.

Because we have ample things to hate on with this game.......

Starting with the aggro issues making classes obeslete........

Its not about aggro issues or how useless GWF is, it is just the super bad players which play these classes.

After everyone flamed the tank aggro issue and the gwf useless in pve and pvp, I started to level both and test them.

The tank have plenty aggro skills which has to be used in right combination, guess no1 even bother to read those skills (its not simple gw2 = every skill dmg).

The GWF is a rapid fighter, i saw many just can't play him, since he is not that easy and yes he is pretty strong in pvp and pve....

It was like i thought this myths comes out when people can't play and just start flaming neverwinter forums.

im very happy as well the game is very nice.when they will add more features this game will be a total blast.

Although im not seeing this game as a true mmo but as an evolution of diablo style game in 3rd person mode.

Pretty much hits the nail on the head.

I have seen amazing players from every class. Some classes have a few cheap tricks (rogue daily, I am looking at you), but any class when played well really shines.  GWF are often touted as useless, but in PvE they are hands down the best AE DPS. If you aren't topping the dungeon-wide parse as a GWF, its your fault. In PvP a GWF can keep you stun-locked while they kill you easily. They have more CC than a control wizard. Yet people constantly whinge that they are underpowered.

Honestly I am more concerned about a well played GWF than I ever am about a rogue. Rogues are easy to dodge and control. GWF are unstoppable.

Also GF are fantastic for wasting peoples time in PvP, and are great at holding aggro on adds in PvE. Its true that you dont 'need' one but it makes it so much easier to kill the adds if a GF is controlling them.

Back to the OP: This is the most fun I have had in a game since Everquest 2. And I have played pretty much every MMO since. If they keep up the pace with content and new classes, I will be very happy to make this my new home.

Gave it a shot since all my friends were trying it out. It just seems broken. And the D&D title is just there for show. Some foundry quest were nice. But the pvp was just .... broken, lagging around the place. The engine seems kapput. Just another one month superstar.

Runs flawlessly on my 2 year old computer while playing in Australia. Are you trying to play on DOS from a dial up connection?

Everything other then this game runs perfect. And it's still broken, regardless of my computer specs.

Edit.. The rubberbanding is also funny

I am glad I made you laugh,  thought that most forum lurkers negative minds couldn't do it.

I could also laugh at people saying Eve is a great game because I might see it as glorified excell shit but I refrain myself because its a matter of respect (actually I think its a great game).

Ok daisy here goes:

- Faundry

- Constant events 24/24 with all kind of bonus and features

- Can access lots of game content from your phone

- Combat really brings some innovation because  the system demands some strategy and skill  (even when fighting regular mobs you can't just stand still)

- pets or companions ( I can't recall any mmorpg where you can invest so much on pets and where they really can add to your gameplay)

I am sure there is more but those are more then enough to compel any gamer to try Neverwinter considering we don't have to spend a penny

The foundry is version 2 of STO's and it's good I'll grant you that.  I am disappointed overall however how disconnected it is from the rest of the game.  It's better than other systems but still not where I would like to see it.

Constant events is a staple of F2P with PWI probably being a pioneer in the field.  It's in every PWI game I have played for years.

Trading and professions on your phone, meh but if you like it go for it.

Combat is better than tab target games but it just doesn't quite hit the nail.  Just like GW2 combat is to "floaty" I find NW combat a bit to "grounded" with long casting animations I guess.  I want a middle ground system and have yet to see it.

I thought SWTOR did pets much better but they are good.

If guild wars 2 could steal this combat and the foundry we would have a winner.

I kinda agree here, I think GW2 needs to revamp its skill and combat system. I think if GW2 can enhance the combat system and make it so that your character isn't fully developed by level 30 It would be great. But as of right now once you get to level 30 the game changes very little afterwards.

I do feel that NWO is the most complete F2P MMORPG to date however. I hope that new AAA MMO's coming out will feel threatened by the F2P market.

On a side note, I would have pref if NWO offered a subscription model as well as a F2P model. I would subscribe to the game rather then deal with the cash shop prices.

More options to gamer , more power.

Games like Neverwinter, Secret World and others Free to Play are raising the bar on the mmorpg world which was quite frozen with WoW controlling the market (which will keep doing for the near future but now there are more interesting options).

The consequences are promising, you have more and more games going to free to play ( today Rift announced  FTP) and from now on any company will think twice before releasing a game with subscription.

I hope the future brings games with subscription, but with unparalleled quality.

False, more option do not equate more power, whatever "power" is supposed to mean.

Options are moot if they are bad. You can have 10 bad choices and those will never be better for someone than 3 great choices.

Games like neverwinter are not raising the bar. They are dropping it. Secret world was intended to be a p2p but it failed. Saying it raised the bar means you ignored all the previous p2p games that went f2p. Have you bothered to try playing Vanguard saga of heroes? Old game but still far better than Neverwinter in terms of quality options, gameplay and in many ways graphics as well.

f2p is also bad for a games design, meaning you will get less quality over all. Why? Because the design has to be based around getting money out of a player, not actual fun gameplay. When a designer doesnt need to worry about coercing money from the player, they can focus on challenge mechanics that are fun and immersive. When the publisher tells them to design around item shops, then good game design takes the back seat and the focus is always limited by the item shop and cutting corners to spend as little in development time as possible.

The only thing we see is another push for player generated content, and right now Valve is leading that crusade.

Neverwinter and TSW are completely different models to the point where I really wouldn't call them the same thing.  Games like TSW, DDO, LOTR, etc. charges for content some with the one time upfront purchase than DLC packs as time goes on but has a very easy to live with cash shop containing mostly vanity items.  You can't buy in game currency, no keys to open random loot boxes i.e. slot machines, and no crafting items that improve your chance of success with lose of item on failure.  Neverwinter falls into that class of games that doesn't charge you for content making all races, classes and content free but offers a cash shop to ease a enormous grind to max gear and out right P2W though the use of crafting stones you must have to get the very highest gear stats.

Personally I prefer F2P games that gate content.  I have no issues pulling out my wallet and buying a $10 content pack if I am enjoying the game (I recently did for TSW) but putting down $10 for 10 keys for random boxes that may or may not result in me getting the item I truly want just doesn't feel right to me for a video game.  If I wanted the thrill of gambling I can get a much more enjoyable experience in Vegas.

Still playing Neverwinter and still loving it.  Made my first quest which was REALLY fun...but realized that there is so much more potential in the Foundry.

Combat I love.  I actually like the fact you have to stop to do certain skills.  I think it actually adds more strategy to how you fight.

Sorry, pet system is way better in SWTOR like another poster said

Hmmm.  Well, both STO and COH had a foundry type system.  SWG had a storyteller system well before.  So there is nothing new or innovative there.

All of Cryptic games have the "constant events" thing.  Plus so does Guild Wars 2.  Actually, Rift has it as well....in fact, that is one of the main aspects of Rift....you know, the RIFTS...lol.

Who really cares about what you can access from your phone.  Does it have any impact on the game or how you play the game...nope.

Nothing innovative about combat.  Tera is cited as probably the best action orientated combat  MMO.  Guild Wars 2 has pretty much an identical combat system.  STO has revamped their combat system, not that it is all that great.  Planetside 2.....actually, there are quite a lot of games that sort of play like this.

Pets or Companions....why, I give you SWTOR.  The game where you MUST play with pets and companions.  In fact, that is one of their excellent systems.  You can outfit them them, upgrade their loot....etc.  They can even tank or heal or do actual DPS, not like the companions in Neverwinter....lol.

I pronounce this game Dead on Arrival.  Actually, Dead Before Arrival because it is still in Beta.  Have fun with your new and innovative game!

Combat I love.  I actually like the fact you have to stop to do certain skills.  I think it actually adds more strategy to how you fight.

Sorry, pet system is way better in SWTOR like another poster said

I don't mind the having to stop to cast as much as the way your attack animations carry though regardless of what is going on.  My Guardian's left mouse button attack is three swings and he will always follow though the entire animation regardless of what is happening.  Mobs get knocked back by my pet he still swings though empty air, Mobs die he continues his animation to completion celebrating his victory by swinging over their bodies .  If you are going to lock players in animations at least make them short ones.  If the longest animation NW had was half a second or so the system would be much better.

It's impossible to be sure without playing but the video's I have seen of Wildstar seem about right.  Attack animations are fluid without being "floaty" and it seems to hit that right mix of movement and grounding.  But again until we can play it there is no way to be sure if that's not just good selective video editing.  What I do know is that GW2 takes movement to far in one direction and Neverwinter takes grounded to far in the other.
