mediocre game is mediocre....

Once you get higher you will realize what I'm talking about two of the classes are not even needed because GF and GWF are both unecessary the DC can tank just as good and will always have aggro in the dungeon anway...

The GWF atm has such low dps that there is no reason not to take a CW, TR in there place....

And you think the soft trinity is fine try playing a healer or tank and then see how fine it is.......

The Bosses always have the same mechanic they do nothing but summon tons of adds that's the strategy for every boss fight doesn't matter what it is it summons adds.......

Weirdly this game thinks or the devs thought or god only knows which mofo thought that spawning tons of adds makes the end boss hard. Weirdly this same thought got repeated into every boss the game can spawn. Weirdly enough this game with having nothing but just a dollar sink at higher levels and super imbalances in classes is now to be considered a nice game. I am a player not a fool to be fooled with advertisement posts and other random sweet lines.

Starting with the aggro issues making classes obeslete........

And you'll get that fixed by posting about it here ?

People hate on these forums because they don't know how to do anything else anymore.

Although that would be annoying if that's the only mechanic in every boss fight it damn sure beats tank & spank for every boss with big boom attack at the minute mark requiring you to shift to the right or left.... ohhhh ahhhh talent

I've enjoyed the combat.

UI is unobtrusive, since I haven't even thought about it.

Soft trinity? You have a tank, 1 single target dps class, 1 aoe dps class, 1 controller, and 1 healer. Nothing soft about it. People just don't realize this yet, or don't care. I DON'T like how the GWF is only good at AOE dmg, but poor at single target DPS, like that makes any sense at all.

The community is pretty poor for the most part though. People Needing things they don't Need. People don't chat in groups, even when I initiate a hello or something. People are pretty helpful in the open world though, as far as helping you kill things or healing you up.

It's rediculous how fast your bags fill up post level 20 with greens and enchants, yet you have to spend $10 for 1 bag. I've already spent some money on 4 more character slots and a handful of keys. This is rediculous.

I'm really enjoying neverwinter and not planning on quitting anytime soon, i have a level 60 Cleric and Control wizard, both leveled primarily through questing and a few dungeons/skirmishes on the side ( didn't touch PvP much )

But i can't say that the game feels well made at all, while i can't call it pay to win the Cash shop it offers is average/dodgy at best, the combat often feels Clunky, I've tried all classes but the Great weapon fighter, and none of them feel like I have proper control over my character, i honestly don't care what their excuse is, the combat feels very limited. I don't care if i "feel attached to the ground" because of it.

The graphics are okay, but nothing to brag about - I prefer cartoony styles as games that try to push graphics to the side of realism often fall flat on their face doing so, neverwinter pulls that off well, i cant critique it much for it.. But again, It's nothing special.

There are some glaring issues with the game as well, Tanks are simply terrible, you're better off not bringing one at all and bringing a cleric instead, the typical party with a tank / healer will see the tank lose all agro to a single HoT of the healer.

Then theres things like the auction house sorting by level not even working, leaving instances and being unable to leave the dungeon queue leaving you to never do an instance again until it magically fixes itself.

While i realize this is not full release, some of these issues are absolutely unforgivable, theres just no way they should've ever made it to a  publicly playable version of the game.

I'm quite sick of companies releasing games early just so they have an excuse when people complain about the faults of it, Neverwinter is very very enjoyable, I'll be playing it for at least another month, but a high quality MMO? pfft.. Please.

Get better standards.

You have to be kidding me.

[zone] Cleric: Great a D&D game, where can I get a mace and shield.

[zone] Other player: Clerics cant use those!

[zone] Cleric: ....... wat? no it says right here, Neverwinter... D&D, Forgotten Realms... Everyone knows Clerics are front line fighters with blunt weapons and shields...

[zone] Other player: pfft... thats stupid. Clerics shoot magical arrows out of metal mirror things with chains on them..duh!

[zone] Cleric: .... die!

Neverwinter is one of the worst mmorpgs I have seen in recent years, and to make it worse..it totally spits in the face of what defines D&D. The art is bad, character models are bad, textures are bad, environment art is gawd awful...  gameplay is mediocre and extremely limited at best.

The only interesting aspect of the game is the foundry, and if the game sucks well..then theres no point in the foundry to begin with.

There is no logical way anyone can say this turd is a polished diamond...much less fools gold.

How could Cryptic/PW get the license to make a D&D game is beyond me, but they already proven they shouldnt have it...at all.

In less then a month you'll remember this post and be like "wow what kind of crack was I smoking?"

It's been 2 weeks.. I'm level 60.. And the game is now "meh"...

The combat was fun, the "single player" campaign was pretty darn good (voice acting wasn't bad either), but then again.. The end game grind... That is so "traditional" in every MMO that everyone will come in here with all that "It's just like..." and I don't like the choices.. At LEAST there ISN'T some magic "PvE" only stat that makes PvP gear obsolete in epic dungeons like "toughness" or whatever.. But I just can't stomach another end game gear wheel....

Using a single line from a five year old, poorly made CharOp guide just shows that google really isn't your friend.

With that said, much like the PnP equivalent, it will grow over time.  People just don't seem willing to wait these days.  I found the game to be an enjoyable time sink, which is all any MMO can hope to be.

It needs work, but doesn't every game these days?

Subjective, what is one mans trash is another man's treasure.  However the combat is VERY non D&D.  Arcadeish?  Sure its fun but it completely discards any attempt to play D&Dish and went after WoWish or GW2.

- UI is very intuitive and polished

What UI lol?  Game is mouse look lock and the UI isn't really all this or that.

- classes are interesting and the soft trinity really nailed it

Classes are really crap.  Too few, rogue is dominating PvP or the Wizard, complete disregard of any attempt to be true to the rulebooks.

- the game feels alive, people always running around everywhere, lots of events going all the time

Game is new n shiney n not to mention only 3 shards which will likely be merged after the exodus happens.  And players do not make a world allive, everyone is just running around doing errends.  Ogrimarr is alive as people hang around socialize.  Events?  You mean quests?

- animations and graphics are very good

Ummm no.... just no.  Good graphics are AoC and GW2.  Neverwinter is mediocere at best.

- the Foundry is genius

Yeah.... but at what cost?  So far Cryptic content is absolute and utter crap which is what many feared will happen.  That Craptic will justify lack of content with UGC.  Dungeons I've found borish and story that your character follows is so generic and boring with no sense of real sory.  GW2, hell even WoW I felt a real stroy unfolding.

BUT the most important, its really a FUN game to get into, grats Cryptic , the mmorpg genre really needed this!

We'll see how this ends, but I'd wager not very well.  Sure the game will continue and will be a source of entertainment but nothing really astounding.  The only thing that Neverwinter will bring is a UGC game which needs some serious unrestraint.

too bad pvp is gear based & the game is run by top 3 greediest publisher PWE

as for class balance, rogue was overpowered enuf, they buffed it once and now its super overpowered

lots of stupid ppl bought founders & cash items ( yes i see the many spiders & epic mounts ) so get ready for months of them giving this game rep trying to make you play & buy stuff too

its thanks to these kind of ppl that publishers like PWE survive

Make worlds not stories

One of the most fun games I have played for years. It was a little dull at the beginning, but the further I get the better the dungeon designs, the more fun grouping become. There is a learning curve and it surpriced me how much dept there is in the sometimes chaotic fights, although some of the bosses are ridicolously chaotic and almost umpossible till you outlevelled them by 5 levels.

The graphics that people were busy complaining about was just a matter of getting used to (and click the "open advanced settings, and pull all sliders to 200), and now after seeing more and more awesome dungeons and settings I found I really like the looks.. there is something about the lightning that makes dungeons look and feel real. Faces are still messed up tho hehe.

However, there are loads of problems, and it lacks that slickness from aaa titles we are growing used to. And it is not really a mmorpg, so my commitment will be relatively short, but damn am I having fun while it last .

I was immediately pissed off because I love playing a cleric that uses dual maces in D&D games and come to find out, all Cryptic did was slaughter the D&D class system to fit stupid MMO gamers.  My cleric gets to carry around some holy icon that has never existed in any D&D game that I've played.

Well, you get what you pay for.  Or in this case, what you don't pay for.

Have you?

By default a Cleric can't equip a shield, and they can't wear anything above Chainmail.  They also have a very limited selection of melee powers.  A Devoted Cleric is precisely what you get in Neverwinter, assuming you avoid the few melee choices available to you.  It always makes me laugh how people panning 4th edition seem to know so little about it.

It's certainly a bit silly of them to restrict classes to a single weapon type given the wide range available to you in DnD, I expect this will change somewhat as the various class builds begin to appear.

That's information hosted by those IP and property owners... I'm going to go out on a limb and take it and the melee polearm version for 4e to be the exact opposite of what  the other guy are talking about which is probably 3e. The thing about editions is stuff changes. Imagine that.

That's information hosted by those IP and property owners... I'm going to go out on a limb and take it and the melee polearm version for 4e to be the exact opposite of what  the other guy are talking about which is probably 3e. The thing about editions is stuff changes. Imagine that.

It's a forum post.  Which is in no way representative of the views of WotC.  I'm pretty sure there are disclaimers on most sites with forums stating exactly that.  I was simply pointing out the flaw in your rather flimsy retort.  The rest of my post pretty much backed you up.  Imagine that.

The post directly above yours about Fourth Edition Clerics should straighten out the rest of your assumptions. [mod edit]

As for me its the another Wow clone with foundry, and some crafting improvements. Nothing new. Even Rift has more new features.
