Already having issues/errors with customer service, although it may just be really busy. Guess I'll give them some weekdays to see how they respond...I thought some of these issues were fixed in Beta, which I didn't play much, because I didn't want to spoil myself and have to repeat the first 20 lvls over and over.

Sorry Jero, it's disappointing to hear as I was considering giving this badboy a good free throw and see...

Because we don't care,  don't buy the damn mount.  Apparently people are buying the mount, and the people buying the mount are the ones funding your ability to play a game for free.

i get it, you want to play free and have quick access to the games fluff items too.  I want a buy a house on the beach in the Bahamas for $10 ... Life's a bitch, that's not how it works.

is the zen store overpriced?  Damn right it is.  But people obviously pay those prices, and that's how the game funds itself so you and me can play for absolutely free... So what exactly are you complaining about?  If you really want to piss and moan, do so to the players that pay $40 for a mount, they are the ones that keep the prices high.

agreed:)

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Might want to clean the wax out your ear for this. Because they aren't REQUIRED for anything. You can level from 1 to 60 without spending ANYTHING. I don't care if they put a mount in the shop for 2 million dollars. I don't need it so there for why should I even CARE.

Nothing personal OP, but your post is silly.

You DO NOT need a T3 companion. You WANT a T3 Companion.

You DO NOT need a T3 mount. You WANT a T3 mount.

NEITHER is required to progress from 1 to 60. They are FLUFF items.

In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.

So what exactly are you complaining about?  If you really want to piss and moan, do so to the players that pay $40 for a mount, they are the ones that keep the prices high.  Just realize the massive amount of money they are dumping into the game is going towards new content, classes, etc.... So you are basically slapping the hand that feeds you your free game.

Well put, sir.

I mean, people want to play a game for free, but pay to win isn't worth bothering with, so game companies try to make cash from fluff items. But then the people that are playing for free in a non-P2W model such as NWO, are also not happy with others paying for fluff items that they consider to be too expensive for themselves.

So what do you want, really? If you don't like the model, go elsewhere. I don't know, buy a mmo for 60$ up front to maybe uninstall it a week later, or even better, play a subscription to then find out people can still spend real cash on pets and mounts to get fluff stuff you won't.

But please, quit whining for the sake of whining, or just because you have a personal agenda against PWE/Cryptic because 10 years ago they didn't make a game as you would have liked. The unfunded besmirching of NWO/PWE/Cryptic is getting boring quick, and mmorpg.com isn't that big, you can easily learn the names and recognize their convenient posting patterns in the different game sections.

My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

Just to add here, the T3 mounts are account wide.  When you purchase it, all your future toons get it.  The companions are a single purchase, but like the bags, may be sent between your toons.  The companions will cost AD to unbind from a toon, but can be moved.  I currently send one bag between 3 toons, and have sent one companion between two of them.  AD becomes much easier to gain as you level through dailies and usage of the AH.

Cheers!

edit: The one bag I have purchased was done by doing the free zen offers on perfect world's website.  That took about 15 mins a day for a week prior to launch to gain through doing surveys while eating lunch at work.

Some people amaze me.

No. It's a shame a could be great game is being ruined by UTTER COMPANY GREED!

The whole point in this game is to collect and level up Tier 3 companions and eventually get T3 gear and mounts.

The companion system is one of the MAIN features of this game.

That's why I play MMORPG's. To progress my characters.

I don't care about the Foundry. I don't have the time for it.

you do realize the cash shop is totally optional. and you have time for the game as a whole, but not for foundry misions?

I thought the mounts in the shop were account unlocks, they were in the beta weekends at least, I havent looked since OB. Also if you are a Guardian, you already have a Tier 3 mount for all your characters.

I thought the prices were pretty reasonable. $1 to change your appearance, $6 to respec, $2.50 per character slot.

The mounts are fairly expensive, but completely unnecessary aside from vanity. You can earn Tier 3 mounts and companions in-game.

The game isnt pay to win at all. But yes, they are trying to make a profit, so they can keep developing the game. Keep in mind that this isnt a B2P product like GW2. They need the cash shop. And thankfully they havent gated stuff off like other F2P games.

agreed.. don't think people understand f2p games have 0 revenue outside founders pack type things.. you don't make millions on box sales like a b2p game would so you need to start generating revenue best you can to continue development of the game.. i have played a LOT of f2p over the years and neverwinter is by far one of the tamest cash shop wise i have seen.. many people forgot you can't compare this game to Tera or any other conversion game as they made a lot of revenue from their inital box sales.. the prices my be a bit high but its mostly fluff stuff, nothing that halts your progression or enjoyment of the game, nothing overpowered or anything you can't get an equivalent of in game.. but people see PW and just assume since some of their other games have much more p2w style CS they assume this one is as well

Some people expect everything anymore without putting effort into it, hell I believe WoW charges like $25 for a mount in a sub based game. Do you need it, no, is it a fluff item very much so, they need to fund this game one way or the other geez.........

Also these are starting prices. They are testing the waters. You can lower prices later on, or test lower prices with sales. But you cant raise the prices if you set it too low. There is so much to see and do in the game, yet people focus on the cash shop as soon as they log in, its absurd.

Yes, that is the best point ever. People don't want pay to win, but if fluff is their only bread and butter they have got to tack a high premium on it.

i just thought it was funny you said "utter company greed" when we are talking about F2P. It seems even the "free loaders" as i like to call them, get upset over a company needing to make money to keep games going. This is the reason I hate F2P games because of the company they bring, free loaders. I do understand you bought a founder pack or whatever but that's just because you wanted to play early or there are items you wanted, not to support a company that is trying to develope a game that is fun.

if a mount cost $40 or whatever and is worth it people will buy it, if not they wont and the price WILL come down. So your bitching and moaning about it or asking for a refund won't change that, its just how things work, so live with it or uninstall I'm sure nobody will notice.

Peace

This is a surprise to some people?  A company trying to sell $200 founders packs should have been a pretty clear clue about what you were getting into.

i hope they arent renting bags. PWE has done that before if i remember correctly. You pay a full price for a bag that lasts 7-15-30 days. If i can get permanent items then im fine. I could buy permanent bags too. PWE is well known for selling up to $50-60 dollar mounts that i wont be needing any time soon

I don't mind to work a little to get decent items in a game.

I don't mind the studio's need to make some cash via the Item Shop.

But with the current ingame prices on vendors (currency / AD). Wow! It puts the average Asian grinder to shame.

But with the current prices on the Zen shop for a T3 mount / T3 companion.  35 - 40 dollars/euro PER character (not even account wide)!! Sorry you used to buy an entire MMO expansion for those prices.

The game is fun and gameplay decent done. It's the ingame vendors and Zen Cash Shop that instantly turned me off from this game!

Even with Cryptic's other games (CO and STO) it's not this bad. And most likely due to those games not been F2P in beginning and so have a different ingame / cash shop balance.

Sorry.... but for me Cryptic has reached a new low again.

Shame me once with CO. Shame me twice with STO. Neverwinter is third strike and out!

I've read most of your replies in your thread and the one thing that comes across quite clearly is that you believe the ability to gain/earn the in-game currency to be able to do what you want is hard/difficult, yet from what I read from others it's not impossible. Don't you think you should have to actually earn things in-game the old fashioned way, as in work for them, fight for them, adventure for them, quest for them rather than visiting an in-game shop a few days into early access.

It doesn't matter if he can afford the items or not, having items for real money, makes a barrier between the players and the game company in that the interest of the company is no longer to keep you entertained, but to get you to buy items.

They would want to deliberately make the game fucked up for you to make you buy instead of focusing on keeping your subscription.

A 40$ item = 3 months subscription to any other game, buy 2 and you've paid for more sub time than most people even play a single mmo.

Say there is an item that does take insane amount of grind, and someone goes through all that to get the item, he should be able to feel good about that and get recognised for his achievement in game, builds community, perhaps inspire others to go through the same to get the same item.

He should be able to feel good about the item without some asshat getting the same item by paying 40$.

And before you bring up elitism, it's not elitism, it's what makes a game for a lot of us, progression and achievement, the arguement "Just don't buy" doesn't work, because, others buying the items I achieve, devalue my achievement and makes it - not worth my time.. at that point it's no longer a game, it's just a real life money pit.

F2P is not in our best interest, it destroys games.

Thanks for the post Jeokane! I was about to buy the found pack until I read your post,  I think I know what you're saying, everything CAN be gained trough playing, but not anytime this year if you wont plan on buying the stuff in the store (with silly prices)

Guess I try it out tomorrow for free instead, but I guess I wont stay for long!

Thanks again!

lol I know what you mean.

I have the week off and wanted to try something new. so ponied up the 60.00 and I've been having a blast. I've never once looked into the cash shop and have only looked at vendors twice.

So far at lvl 15 my gear seems fine and I can do content that seems clearly a few levels above me. Having said that, I can forsee potions getting expensive if one is a guardian fighter.

Then again, I haven't grouped just yet so perhaps there is a nice cleric in my future who will heal my wounds and rub my temples and pour me wine.
