The only people who like DF:UW are people who enjoy games that take no skill and have no meaningful progression as a player.  The vast majority of people playing DF:UW right now are massive zergers who want nothing more than to kill people 10 versus 1 and steamroll over new players outside AV's prized "safe zones".

If you like hardcore sandbox games, DF:UW is a piece of trash.  If you like generic half assed PvP games with no diversity whatsoever, no skill profression, and little risk involved in anything you do, you might like it.

And there is no steamrolling just outside savezones cause you can run back into it to avoid death. Clearly you haven't played it at all.

DF1 was beautiful in that when you lost a fight you had nobody blame but yourself.  If you died to a massive zerg it was because you weren't good enough at running.  DF:UW is vastly different.  When you die there are a myriad of reasons that have nothing to do with player skill, namely class balance.

Hardcore PvP games aren't for everyone.  Aventurine took their hardcore PvP game and turned it into a mish-mash of themepark hand-holding and half-assed sandbox features like full loot (the full loot doesn't matter because all of the items in DF:UW have almost no value and can be attained in very short amounts of time).

If you need to ask for others wether to play a game or not, the answer is obvious.

I played the entire beta.  AV has been listening to the community and improving the game by a ton.  I also played DF1 and it was a great game too.  But please people don't listen to this fool or the other DF1 vets crying about how AV changed their game.  Is this game easier then DF1? Yes but its kinda nice because now you don't HAVE to have macros to pvp which put alot of people off.  I loved DF1 and love DFUW but honestly think DFUW has ALOT more potential and staying power.  My clan and I have been having a blast.

The ONLY people I see that arn't loving this game are the DF1 vets that thought they were "elite" and are still crying that AV took away their game.

And btw, I roll skirm and woop warriors of equal prowess/gear on the REGULAR.  So don't go saying warriors win all 1vs1 because your just wrong.

Thank you for proving my point with your last sentence which I colored.  You mentioned that you whoop warriors of equal prowess and gear, not skill.  DF:UW is not a skill based game.  So my statement stands to the OP. if you like skill based PVP where the enjoyment is had out of improving as a player and winning because of skill, then DF:UW is not for you. 

I 100% admit that I miss DF1.  I miss it because the game was ever so close to being perfect during its final days. If the game received half the support AV dumped into this new train wreck, DF would be one of the most popular MMOs on the market.

There is a reason all of the good DF1 players aren't playing DF:UW.  There is a reason all the awful DF1 vets who got steamrolled constantly in DF1 are praising DF:UW...because they are finally playing a game they can compete in.

Hardcore PvP games aren't for everyone.  Aventurine took their hardcore PvP game and turned it into a mish-mash of themepark hand-holding and half-assed sandbox features like full loot (the full loot doesn't matter because all of the items in DF:UW have almost no value and can be attained in very short amounts of time).

 

I played the entire beta.  AV has been listening to the community and improving the game by a ton.  I also played DF1 and it was a great game too.  But please people don't listen to this fool or the other DF1 vets crying about how AV changed their game.  Is this game easier then DF1? Yes but its kinda nice because now you don't HAVE to have macros to pvp which put alot of people off.  I loved DF1 and love DFUW but honestly think DFUW has ALOT more potential and staying power.  My clan and I have been having a blast.

The ONLY people I see that arn't loving this game are the DF1 vets that thought they were "elite" and are still crying that AV took away their game.

And btw, I roll skirm and woop warriors of equal prowess/gear on the REGULAR.  So don't go saying warriors win all 1vs1 because your just wrong.

 

Thank you for proving my point with your last sentence which I colored.  You mentioned that you whoop warriors of equal prowess and gear, not skill.  DF:UW is not a skill based game.  So my statement stands to the OP. if you like skill based PVP where the enjoyment is had out of improving as a player and winning because of skill, then DF:UW is not for you. 

I 100% admit that I miss DF1.  I miss it because the game was ever so close to being perfect during its final days. If the game received half the support AV dumped into this new train wreck, DF would be one of the most popular MMOs on the market.

Skill has nothing to do with how often you logged in and had your bot running macros, or how many times you cast the same stupid spell to level up.

Skill is how you fight.  What you're talking about is the horrible grindfest that turned so many people off to DF1, including myself.

As for the guy that posted the treasure map story, that's some of the things I do miss from DF1 that isn't available in any other MMO because they're not full loot.  

I'm still on the fence especially since TERA is totally free and has decent PVP (although not very meaningful PVP).

As to everyone ragging on the guy for asking you to make him want to play- how hard is it to talk about the good things in a game rather than complain?  What else do you have to do on a forum besides talk about a game?  If it's too much trouble for you, maybe you shouldn't post in forums.

I played GW2 and really loved the game, still do, but the missing element of danger/risk is what killed that game for me.  So I definitely understand your thoughts regarding TERA.  A lot of today's games are like a heart monitor hooked up to a coma patient.  Mostly a flatline experience.   My treasure map story, was just one experience and it sure as hell was not a flat line.  Darkfall provides you with the high highs and low lows.  The good times would not mean anything without the bad.

Badaboom, I loved your story. That's the kind of thing that keeps me coming back- even the enemies I love to hate, like LOD. From what I've seen, they would probably run from a fair fight, but they will get a bunch of guys with 15k prowess to attack one naked noob with 2k pp. They would use an F-22 Raptor to attack a farmer with a pitchfork.

Still love it though :D

I don't know if it'll make you want to play but for me this game hits almost all of my wish list for MMO's.

1. PvP
2. aim targetting, even if it's not perfect it's better.
3. full loot - which leads to crafting importance.
4. No Exclamation marks or arrows pointing the way to go.
5. Boats and very cool water battles
6. large open world battle the way it's meant to be
7. It's on land, in fantasy style, I like Eve but I'd rather play this
8. skills bases, not level based even though I think this leads to macro'ing it's better
9. stealth, not invisibility, meaning duck behind that tree and hope they don't see you.
10.property you own, if you can keep it.
