... this game would have a much better standing!

It´s actually a pretty decent game, clearly better than on release.

Imagine they would not have invested time into the space rails and rather announced a big space sim with the release, and show something of it!

A lot of "would have´s" but hopefully the game is on the right track now and they skim through the tons of suggestion.

Still needs Pazaak, swoop racing, space casino, improve the feeling of the lame ass speeders, giving more life to the planets(day night change), sandbox elements and expand the planets, add a really good "Privateer/EvE" type space sim then it will be perfect.

SWTOR 3.0 maybe?

unfortunately with the size and budget the game already has, if they took the time to invest into a "Space Sim" the cost would have gone up even more. Not to mention delaying the release date by a good chunk. The time they released their game at was the absolute best time. if they had tried to directly compete with GW2, TSW and Tera in the release dates SWTOR would be even worse off than it is now.

The game is a decent game. However Funcom and Anet  are Juggernauts of the buisness.  and Tera with how they designed that game to play was something new into the MMO genre aswell. SWTOR being a Traditional MMO just wouldnt stack up because all 3 of these games brought something new. the only thing SWTOR brought was Voice overs, and even they were in other games.

Because i can.

First came pride, then envy.

I disagree.  The game still suffers with leveling alts, questing, class specialization, exploration & closed off zones, bloated UI that takes too much real estate on screen, etc.  The list goes on.  There are many positives though, but the negatives outweigh them.

SWTOR is absolutly awesome right now. With few more tweeks and new 55 Flashpoints (Dungeon) it will be a blast to play.

The way new content works and new daily and weekly quests are fantastic.

I resubed and I am sad that this things were not at the beggining :(

If they released the game as it is now at launch the universe would have imploded.

First they wouldn't be able to hype up Open world PVP (No Ilum).

The would not be able to say class stories would be the game's future focus.

There would be riots in the streets if they launched the game with a subscription fee and a cash shop.

They wouldn't have sold any boxes, (especially collector's edition boxes) with its current payment model.

With its FTP option, a ton of people would have never subscribed at all.

Other then that, good plan.

I've been surprised at its change since release. I subbed for 3 months when it first came out, lost interest, came back as a ftp a month ago, and recently subbed again (with the xpac). The simple addition of a group finder was nice to have, and opened a lot more content up for those who want to casually play. I haven't scratched the surface on all the new content that's been added.

I don't like it, I tried playing it the other day and the combat is too fast now, 1.2 ruined PVP but it's even faster now :\ I liked the pace of the PVP before 1.2..........

Sadly what I hated about the game still exists, so all they've done is made it worse IMO.

It is sad that all a company has to do is lable a game FTP, and not only can they double dip on the playerbase.  But the players will defend the company's actions.

If 2.0 was 1.0 nothing much would change because its just more of the same...even less because most hyped and interesting part (by BW) is missing...class stories.

Not really, they did next to nothing to fill the glaring holes in its gameplay. The only people remaining are the hardcore fans and F2Pers which are coming and going as fast as any other game that went from sub to F2P. In another 2-3 months they will have hit that wall of being able to replace those F2Pers quitting with new ones joining and their own forums proved it by the many subbed players pissed off at their bandaid PvP fix which casued another drop in subs. Its the very reason the CEO of EA stepped down, they couldnt even fix the games lack of revenue with F2P.

AND NO, F2P DID NOT SAVE THE GAME. You believed the smoke and mirriors put out, the investors didnt, because EA couldnt hide the numbers from them no matter how hard they tried to hide it from the players. Their increase in revenue from going F2P was still far lower than the games revenue from release, which was far lower than what was needed to make back the money put into the game, and keep it funded.

yup, they would have failed even harder and faster

the lack of a proper space part would also be obvious

If space was good, and in for 1.0, the game would be doing fine.

it still has the exact same problem.  No sandbox elements to fill time between content updates and a wek endgame consisting of dailies+FP+OP.  The same thing would have happened, except as others have said they can't even claim to have world pvp.

....The game would take 13 days to beat instead of 11.

PvP is worse. The original PvP was much better.

Your decisions having consequences was better during beta(you could lose a companion)

Space-is still horrible. Just the worst.

Sandbox things-anything. There's nothing to do, other than just stand there staring at terminals.(standing on fleet is the number one activity according to biowares own metrics)

Games ok. Just small, linear with nothing to work for, other than PvE and PvP gear. (even though naked is the way to go thanks to bolstering now lol).

Not a horrible game. Just the most linear thing since WoW. Which alot of people love.

Hopefully, after a couple of years of building up content(since that's the only way a themepark is fun, after years of content is built up), than playing it will be alright for me. Also, when the add the Super Secret Space Project....Some open world PvP(ilum, is still pretty dull), and things to just explore. Holy crap, exploration used to be one of the pillars of MMO's. Now it's just an after thought(follow the mini map arrow, because we have determined that players are too stupid to find anything with out being led to it)

I have no major problems with the game. maybe in 5 years, it will be fun.

With a space sim, eve style (with better graphics of course) I think SWTOR would have crushed. A few more improvements would have been nice, you guys mentioned pazaak, swoop racing etc... some other fun stuff, multi-passenger ships maybe.

With those additions I think SWTOR would and maybe still could be a monster of a MMO. I think Disney might have other plans though lol. Seeing as they're shutting Starwars shit down at the moment.

I purchased digital deluxe at launch. I like the game without the sub, but i get a lot more content  in other mmos and not be locked away. So yeah, i dont feel that i need to play this game for now. Maybe in the future if it keeps improving the cash shop side of the spectrum and its limitations.

SWTOR 3.0 maybe?

Biggest mistakes they made in my opinion...

1.) Space. Clearly that was tacked on at the last minute. They should have just put the space part of the game on hold and diverted their time and resources on other things like...

2) PVP.   I refuse to even do PVP anymore because of the ridiculous amount of stuns. It wouldn't be so bad if your stun broke after being attacked but in this game you stay stunned while players whack away at you. Plus Ilum  should have been better thought out.

3.)Choices having consequences.....As tends to happen, a bunch of carebears got into beta and complained about losing companions after a bad decision and the level of difficulty. So the game was dumbed down to appease them. Big mistake. They should have just offered droid companions on the GTN to replace the ones you killed or let go. They didn't have to talk, they just needed to fill healer,DPS or tank roles.

4.) They should have designed the game to where republic starts on one planet, empire starts on one planet and then your choices branch you off down the line. That would let decisions you make actually matter as well as cut down on the number of voice actors.

Just my two cents.

Nah, it wouldn't. Most of the hate thrown at this game has nothing to do with what it is or was, truth is most of the people who keep ranting and raving about how terrible it is are doing nothing but repeating stuff they read in the forums because they really have no idea what the state of the game really is.

The problem, from the herd's perspective, has always been what ToR wasn't. Specifically, that it wasn't SWG V2.0, and thus they were, and are going to continue to, trash it no matter what.
