THIS is how you get donations. if this game works, i'll donate some money towards it. i have a hard alpha to play and decide for myself. Take note dev's, this is how ya get money. Promises are all well and good, but ya aint getting my money on ideas and promises. Give me something to chew on.

Will update when i tinker abit and get my feet wet.

Alright, so DL'ed, and played for about 6 hours so far. This game is getting some money from me, even though it's funded already! Truly going to be epic i believe. Minecraft without the blocks has been something i've been yearning for for a loong time. This is going to be the next step in that direction.

The alpha is pretty smooth, there are some controls that they need to work on and implement, but overall, i definetely see a big future in this game.

Only thing that i've not been able to 'get' is how to start building. It says you need flat ground to build upon, but everytime i dig, it just gets deeper and deeper, not flatter.

A tutorial would be needed in the future, AFTER the game comes along further. I get that red highlgihted placement block means it cant go there, blue means the ground isn't flat, green means it can be placed. It's getting the blue to turn tog reen im fumbling with.

hey great news you like it that much! =) About building. If you selected "dirt" as material and get your "buildcursor block" on the ground and it´s blue. Press "alt" it should turn green and you can start building dirtblock´s. press "alt" again and the blue "buildcursor" is rubber and you can delete build block´s =) Not sure if that´s your problem at all but wanna type it down anyway =D

Other thing with the "flat" ground. It takes some time to learn the "technique" to dig just start digging a hole and then try to get horizontal underground from then on "learning by doing" you soon will get the twist for flat ground´s and flat roof´s.

Just click once and you'll take 2 swings if there are at least two parts of the block left. If there is only one part left you will only swing once. after the two swings eye ball the area and if it looks level stop if it doesn't click again and you 'll take one or two more swings depending on how many parts are left in the block. It takes some practice but after a while you'll get a feel for when to stop. The biggest mistake while leveling is just holding the mouse button down as you'll just continue on into the next block. Hope this helps.

Also while building you can just drag blocks out to create a line. if you hold ALT you can drag blocks out in a horizontal pattern like a square on the ground. If you hold down SHIFT you can drag blocks vertically to make stacks. You can also use these two methods together to create thick walls. For example... You hold down ALT and drag blocks out in a 2x10 pattern on the ground. Then you can hold down SHIFT to drag the whole pattern up 4 blocks. When you let go of the mouse button you will have a wall 2 blocks thick by 10 blocks wide by 4 blocks high. It takes some practice but you can build anything pretty quick and easy with a little practice.

Been playing it on and off for a few weeks now.  I really like it and the freedom it gives you.  Really looking forward to the co-op portion when it is added.

This did help me, thanks man. I didn't quite understand how the layers worked. i had been holding down the button until it seemed level then letting it go. once i read your post i went back and just 'chipped' at the ground and it started working out fine.

To be honest i should prolly google voxel itself and learn about it, i only know "This means minecraft style stuff" xD

EDIT: it didn't help that when i first tried building, i was trying to put down defenses before 30 mobs came to put my dick in the dirt. lol.

Even some more detailed working tools would be great, but not necessarily need. =)

That car I posted was created with mirroring on the X axis. This way you only need to build half of it and the other half will build itself as you go along. I tried a car with both X and Z mirroring and it just didn't look very good as the front and the back looked the same even though I tried to detail them differently. Y and Z are good for creating swords mainly right now and may make for some interesting Hovercraft/VTOL designs later but they are pretty useless for car design in my opinion. X axis mirroring is a must for almost everything you create however as it saves a lot of time.

P.S. Here are the ISO files for both the M41 Pulse Rifle and the Buggy in the pics I posted. Just download and put the files in your   folder and ENJOY! You're Welcome.

wow thank´s a lot! And jeah this mirroring is an important aspect i think. I´am just getting used to it and hopefully will improve my skills =). I have some vehicle´s in mind that i want to recreate the best i can. The "Red Fury" from Fireball (Saiber Rider´s) and a motorcycle from an old N64 game called "Extreme G", hopefully i will be able to do that in the future! Least i can do is try =D

backed the game now, hopefully it will get a lot of support =)

*Edit* got an idea while playing. Would be cool if you hunt down to many carnivore creatures, the population of the plant eating creatures "explodes" as a result the lootspot´s for certain flower´s would decrease or get a longer CD or something like that =)

I backed this project as soon as I saw it.  Anything that follows in the footsteps of minecraft and similiar games has my support.

Does anyone know, I have been looking trough the backing options, and many of them come with multiple copies of the final release, but does any of them include multiple beta keys?

I am not so worried about final, I think this thing will skyrocket, but I want to include friends now, and I do not mind paying/supporting for it, but Id rather not make a multitude of backings.

Yes, When you get multiple copies in any tier you get Alpha and Beta access for all copies. It's in the FAQ at the bottom of the Kickstarter page.

my first attempts =) What do you think about it ? The idea behind it is simple, it´s just a chassi that you can various utlity "pod´s" to.

*Edit*  This is one test "pod" It´s a bed inside, a desk and 2 stasis chamber. (idea for a "flat pod")

Someone in this thread mentioned that voxel based meant the game was in the same vein as Minecraft, however, I was under the impression that voxel refers to the type of graphics/engine used?

game is still pretty rough but excited to see it in its finished state

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg
Funny thing you bring up Marvel vs NCSoft/CoH seeing as i was very much a part of the community when this happend and had was able to follow this up close. It is funny BECASUE IT IS NOT IN ANY WAY THE SAME THING AS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. What Marvel did was a legal move to explore the edge of trademark law. What i am talking about is copyright infringement.... Not really the same thing.

But to use the Marvel/CoH thing as an example.. Do you know what the outcome of that fight was..? That it was a offense (that if repeated would lead to a ban) to use the character generator to try and recreate any existing IP character in City of Heroes since not moderating such a thing would give Marvel grounds for a new suite... So tell me mr Harvard law degree... If they could do that to a game that did not give the players the tools to create exact clones.. what would they do to a game that give the players just that.
You've descended into the realm of conjecture. We do not know - to this date - what the settlement between NCSoft and Marvel entailed, outside some slight information. We do know that until it was closed down, you could do all of the things you could do with the character creator after the case that you could do before the case.

BRB. I have to take Adobe to court because some tosser created a logo that looks like my companies logo.

A voxel is, in effect, what a pixel is to 2D images. So 1 voxel represents a single sample in a standard 3D grid. Voxels are used for loads of things, from lighting to terrain, and most (if not all) higher-end game engines use voxels somewhere along the way.
