Come on guys it's 2013. We can do better than this lol.  You guys still mad at me for all the stuff I said about GW2?

Hmm? Why does everyone always assume I'm trolling or hating on something? =(

It was a serious question and critique ; it felt clunky ... I'm willing to admit it might have been a level / skill issue or perhaps a beta issue though.

GW2 socialist.

No he's right, I'm playing it now and I'm not impressed with the combat so far at all.  Is it a level thing?  Can you dodge later?

Not that it's related, but holy gold spam, Batman.  Someone posted an actual message and it was flooded out of the chat window in 1.5 seconds.  Reminds me of Cabal Online.

IMO CoH/CoX are unmatched as far as player movement.

It is clunky, that was my main complaint against the game as well and why I uninstalled it. No idea why bc thinks you're trolling because this has been a pretty common complaint with the game.

It's a pretty common compalint UNTIL you reach a point where you are seemlessly integrating flying skills into your combat.

Basically, it's a complaint used by people primarily looking to complain about something without putting any effort to actually understand the game.

So I think bcbully is correct to throw it back at you guys.  I don't see how it feels clunky at all.  Especially compared to your usual spam/wait hotkeys that are so  boring and overused.  In fact, the game has a z-axis that's actually used.  Thank god for that.  I've been so frustrated by games that tout action, but have no real use for height in the game at all.

To each its own I guess. I am not much of a fan of this jumping and hopping around like a fairy. I prefer traditional western style fantasy with hulking warriors in plate armor and fireball throwing wizards.

Sorry, I listened to bc and others that said it improved as you progressed but it never quit feeling clunky to me. In any case, again this has been a fairly common complaint. Simply do a google search of Age of Wushu clunky and you will see that I and others in this thread are far from the only ones that feel this way.

I gave it a shot, even played longer than I wanted since some claimed it became less clunky later on. It didn't, it is a common complaint, I gave up on it. Sorry I didn't like it and feel it is clunky, nothing I can do about that lol.

+1 to "hopping around like a fairy" eastern style fantasy makes me think of a poor remake of Peter Pan

@ Grayghost

Just out of curiosity, until what internal lvl did you stop playing?  I mean, theres no accounting for taste.  You have every right to not like the combat system.

But for me, the game really clicked when i got  wild goose and hit 'flows with chi' (bout lvl 30 1st internal).

Since then, best combat ever!

@ arespl

Rogues did it all the time in WoW!!

I think ppl are just used to strafing around opponents while spamming their abilities, which you obviously can't do in wushu. This shit actually take practice to get good at.

Kinda reminds me of Mount and Blades in a way ; it's really not the same control scheme, but at first i was like 'damn this game is so sluggish and unresponsive', but one day, i got better and realized 2 things :

1) Wasnt the game that was sluggish, it was me :P

2) I was 100% in control of my swings and my blocks etc...

Now the gameplay between the 2 games isn't even comparable,  but when the game clicked and i got better at it, i had somewhat similar feelings as when i got good at M&B. (just replace swing/block control with movement and flying skills)

And as someone else said, integrating flying skills into your maneuvers really adds a dynamic to the combat.  I absolutely love zipping around the battlefield with 'Jump across the clouds' and 'Wild Goose' on my Emei and stunning/knocking back like crazy, never staying in one spot always moving like a butterfly and stinging like a bee.

No mmo has ever let me pull the awesome stunts i often do in wushu and none has ever made me feel this badass in pvp. None.  Even when i get my ass kicked, its always spectacular.

(Got to 1996 arena rating with a rogue/mage duo during WoTLK, so while im not a pro, i usually know what im talking about when pvp related.  P.S. it was before mages got OP :P)

Sorry bout the poor english, but im a frenchie :3.

Sure if you like cinematic theme parks, with same systems the industries been feeding you for the past 10 years. Questing, battlegrounds, dungeons.

Do you guys understand that you can take all 3 of those things out of AoW, and the core game would still remain with more content, more map than the last four "AAA" mmorpg releases?

Nah probably not. We as humans relate to past experience to understand, and we as gamers have never experienced anything like AoW.

As others have pointed out, AoW's combat seems clunky at first because the new player has not mastered it and also because he lacks the skills (both char and player-wise) to experience it fully. You need to get your flying skills and PvP a lot to get a feel for how the dynamic works, which means playing for a while - fighting a few mobs outside noob town isn't enough. PvEing at any level isn't enough for that matter since AoW is all about the PvP.

Actually I don't get some people's tendency to judge a system before you've experienced it properly. It's like playing a few hours of EVE and then complaining about how boring null sec warfare is, or playing a WoW char to lvl 10 and claim that raiding is boring. If you couldn't get into the game for some reason, fine. But making sweeping judgments like "combat is clunky" when you haven't even been in real combat is... well, pretentious to say the least.

Aside from the fact that on DCUniverse Online you can SUPER SPEED up buildings, jump acrobatically, zipline and fly, and City of Heroes had great travel mechanics, in Champions you can travel in tons of ways including underground tunneling and spiderman style ziplining, or that in WoW, Perfect World you can get flying mounts, or Flight in Aion...yeah im sure its the best besides all those

Hmm. I am now profoundly intrigued by this game -nay, masterstroke of perfection- that's apparently so far beyond anything us mere mortals have ever had the pleasure of experiencing that anything said to the contrary is immediately denied with such irrefutable evidence.

If what you say is true, it must be incredibly innovative and technically advanced (curiously absent from the videos), to the point where I can't even begin to fully appreciate its magnificence until... what was that level again? Nevertheless, I must now promptly go and waste-- er, "devote" my time to trying this out so that I too can become a fanb-- uh, fervent believer.

nice Trolling...

you can pay a very limited batch  of "xp" once a day with two ingame currencys indeed... but those two currency are easy to gain IN GAME... no need to use real $... only lazy very rich noobs will use real $ and well... conversion rate real-$/ingam-currency being so horrible, no one uses it....

Could you go try to troll an other game ? Wushu is definitly worth it, if you don't like it, have fun bashing an other game, kthx.
