Over the past few weeks, we have been working very hard to expand our features coverage on MMORPG.com. I have been quite pleased with the results so far, and am excited about the coverage we will present in the coming weeks. However, in order to continue to provide top notch reviews, previews, articles, editorials and interviews, we need to expand our stable of writers. If you have ever wanted to write about MMORPGs in a highly visible location, and maybe even get to play a few for free, then this may be the job for you.

Staff Writer: A staff writer writes previews, editorials, reviews, interviews and articles for a number of different games. Typically, when an opportunity presents itself, it is circulated amongst all writers, and given to the first who wishes to do it. The basic things we seek in a candidate are:

  • Extensive knowledge of at least one (preferably more) major, live MMORPG.
  • An interest in and knowledge of the genre as a whole.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Focused and able to meet deadlines.
  • Creative and self-motivated.
  • Constantly playing MMORPGs.

To be clear, this is a volunteer position. In exchange for your efforts you will receive free access to any games that you cover for the site.

Those interested should send a one-page (maximum) letter that explains why they would like to take up the task, talks of their favorite MMORPG, and/or any other pertinent topic to lepidus@mmorpg.com.

I sent in my application, I play mmo's 90% of the time anyway. It would be nice to have my opinion read by many...

Is there a deadline for the application? If I send my letter in later this week, will that be a problem?

There is no deadline and technically this is not a finite position, so any time you send a letter I will read it.

I must say though, the response so far has been overwhelming. Thanks to all!

I have a very quick question. Is this a paying position, or a volunteer effort?

Thanks.

*edit* I got too excited to read thoroughly, heh. My bad. Resume sent.

As mentioned in the original posting, this is volunteer. However, you will receive free access to anything you are asked to cover for the site.

In my email I tried to keep it brief but I do have examples of my writing that I do on another site that is deadline based, would it be helpfull to have that info sent as well?
