I hope CDproject stick to there DRM free pc games as they did with Witcher 2, becouse i realy wanne play Witcher 3 if its DRM free.

DRM is not worsed soon all cloud.

Fun fact: The Witcher 2 had both a Steam-protected version and a GOG version without any protection. In an interview a CDPR dev said the Steam version was put on a Torrent first.

EA can continue their little schemes as they see fit, but I'm not buying anything with this kind of DRM. Besides, I've got a backlog of many excellent games already.

Too bad both Ubi and EA are this pathetic nowadays. Luckily, we still have Square Enix and their Eidos division, but they're not as big.

I don't think whether or not you like the game is in question here.

Yet it is proudly shared in pretty much every reply to the topic. Oh well :P.

Took the worlds right out of my mouth. The ones voiced they didn't like it got their chance without questioning...

DRM is not a great system at all but they have to use it to make sure the game does not get pirated by 90% of the community which whatever anyone says always happens these days.

I have to say that the price tag is pretty high and i won't buy it right now because of the super ridiculous VAT system where 60 dollars mysteriously turns into 60 euro's. Goddamn laughable is what is is.

But the price is basically the only thing holding me back.

The morning it came out i had a day off and watched someone on gamestreams wait for it to come online and then started playing it.

It's great, he played for around 8 hours or so and i was watching it on my second screen the entire time. The game is really smooth, is incredibly detailed and its a LOT of fun to watch not to mention play. The guy playing it was a massive Simcity fan and he was enjoying himself immensely. When i stopped watching because of dinner he had almost 8000 people watching him play.

The single player is cool but it shines in multiplayer, private regions with your friends founding citys on the plots next to you. You being the ore driven industrial and him being a university town that educates all your workers. Buying power and water from eachother etc etc.

So before you crash and burn the game, hop over to gamestreams or twitchtv and watch someone play the game for a while.

Amazing. Honestly, the previews do not do the game justice.

I have not bought it, but I find a 30 min line to play a single player game hilariously terrible.

I'm curious about how many of the people that rail against EA and like the Sim City series still went and bought this game.

I'm a big fan of the series and I have played almost every Sim City that came out, but this Origin crap was the last straw for me with that company.

I sure as hell didn't.  I'll admit that I wanted to, but when I swore off EA games, that meant anything with the EA tag on it period.  I'm only one person, but things change because of lots of "one person"s.

I'm not saying your reasons for not buying EA products isn't a valid one but quoting metacritic is laughable at best and downright pathetic at worst. You have people voting who never have and never will play it. I'd much rather somebody gave an opinion based on .. you know.. actually having played the game?

My problem is Sim City was a game I used to play when my internet connection goes down for whatever reason. Now I cannot do that and Diablo was another one I cannot do it with, at least we still have Roller Coaster Tycoon and Civ I guess..

Ahh yes, "Hypers." The people who praise and hate every MMORPG... We've dismissed that claim.

There's a difference between stating what's wrong with the game and out right saying the game sucks.

In the case of the first person I quoted. He out right stated he liked the game with no reason given. Just 'cause.

I'd be willing to bet quite a few.

I am one of those.  I thought the game looked good and would have bought it right away except for the Origin thing.  I did buy BF3 last week because it was 9.99 but that was enough of a taste for me.  I know they will still sell games etc. and do not care about me but I am willing to bet there are more people who made the same choice.

And 60 Euro? TROLOLOL? You must be kidding me. No way I am going to pay 60 Euro for a PC game...

A forum is a place where people can discuss about different opinions. So what I don't get is, how people react offended when they come to a forum and then find... well different opinions. If a different opinion offends you, what are you even doing here?

Can't say I'm very much suprised. Don't very much care as Maxis lost me as a customer back when they released the ridiculously content gutted, yet mysteriously still full priced The Sims 3.

However I do have to ask how this kind of so called protection saves these companies any money. Sure they will probably stop people from pirating their game, but what about the added development cost of extra personnel to create and maintain the servers, which will have to continue to be maintained the entire lifespan of the game, and the inevitable flood of angry support tickets and calls the support staff have to handle when things like the server queues happen.

In my personal experience people who pirate affordable items such as games and music never intended to become a customer in the first place so these DRM measures do not effect them. Sadly however actual customers who feel they are being asked to jump through pointless hoops to play a game they've already payed for have a high potential to become ex-customers.

It isn't about anti-piracy. It's about keeping customers connected to their network so they can be marketed to and sold to. Just like Diablo 3. Every offline player represents potential lost revenue. Even if the players want to play standalone, force them to be connected so there is a chance they may buy something from the cash shop.  The days of buying a game are ending. You're purchasing a temporary seat in the publisher's store.

By all means owl flasher avatar show me a better user score website. Besides some of those user reviews are based on buying the game and not being able to play it. I would say giving a game a 0 for not working when you paid money is a valid way of expressing opinion.

pretty sure his entire point was that user score websites are a horrible gauge for the quality of a game. metacritic isnt the exception, its the norm. just another place for trolls to troll.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

The problem with this kind of DRM system is that it does not stop piracy it just annoyed legit customers..

I get that. You can say every user review is just some guy who is voting 0 to troll but it's not the case. Look at Amazon as well. Sure your thinking I don't get it and just linked more user reviews but I think there is a bias either way when you have professional reviews in the 9's and users in the 2's there is a problem.

If the user reviews are laughable and pathetic the professional reviews are warped with fear induced brown nosing of never getting a press invite again. So you might as well ignore the scores and consider the content. It's obvious a lot of users are not happy with always online DRM. Trying to claim every user review is a troll is absurd.

Never bought D3, and won't be buying this.  I just wish there were a good indie alternative, the way TL2 and POE are alternatives to D3.

When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

You honestly can't argue against it. User score sites are way too prone to trolling, which is why people laugh when they are used as arguments.

Whats funny is, I was going to buy the game for my daughter but because of this crap I pirated it lol.

I'm glad thay had to do it  to stop pirating... certainly seems like its working!
