The OP is a pvp'er and a carebear at the same time. How is that possible?

Originally posted by Volmok the thing is, AoW is not about having a fair same level fight like you would do in other mmos. Its about being right or wrong, a criminal system. Even with the same level. If im innocent and you kill me you become criminal. You go to jail. If im criminal and you kill me (as long as you have a "police" status) you are fine. They focus on that system, being a good guy and be the target of criminals, or be a criminal and take the risk of being caught. I understand what you mean, but thats how every other open world pvp mmo is (without the high lvl vs low lvl punishment). i think AoW can still be improved, but it has the right system. |

You actually do not have to kill anyone. It is a little like SWG. When you "kill" people, then go into a bleeding state for 20 seconds or so where other players can bandage them. If they hit that 20 seconds, then they die and respawn and you get nothing added to your kill value.
So you can PK all you want, just let them bleed out and die in their unconscious state. When you strike a killing blow in the unconscious state, then you are subject to any of the rules.
Plus there are numerous events where you can PK and kill people and not get any increase in your wanted meter. Guild invasions or guild wars, numerous school events, spying...all those things you can do.
But I suspect the OP is just one of those players who likes to gank those who are much lesser in internal level, and when someone of equal or higher level comes along he runs like a little girl.
The best part is you can go into the jail and taunt him while he is behind bars...lol. |

Originally posted by smokefin Er...isn't this a F2P game? How does one unsubscribe and even if you did, what would be the point? (or is there a monthly sub option) But back on topic, there are games out there for people who favor unrestricted killing, this clearly isn't that title. It does sound like you could clear your account by leaving your computer logged in for 72 hours straight which would quickly clear your status. But that wouldn't change the overall design of the title which clearly isn't what you are looking for, even if other posters in the thread seem to favor it. As for the insults with the term carebear, they are just game players looking for a more realistic, system that has a sense of order and law, doesn't make you any more hardcore or cooler because you favor a more open style world. (BTW, TERA PVP servers sound like the perfect place for you to vent your frustrations on.)

OP you are so stupid you should be sent to jail IN REAL LIFE. lol This is a very good system. It is called a risk/reward system for a reason and you just happened to get hit by the big risk bat. If only this kind of system was used in other PvP MMO's out there instead of the current batch of pointless punishment systems. |

It is open world pvp, in that if someone annoys you to the point of rage, kill them or die trying, you can kill anyone...but there may be consequences... It is not open world pvp in that you can hang around and kill noobs all day long without getting punished, for you to have been stuck in jail for that long you must have gone on a back to back killing spree and have gotten several bounties put on you...which means you were annoying people enough that they felt it in their interest to put hard earned silver on your head to make you stop. You were making people lives suck to the point that they put a bounty on you, then you got smacked down by someone who was better than you and got put in jail. Your jail time is directly related to how annoying you are, or how rich your victims are.
You could have participated in PvP events that were "sanctioned" and entirely avoided a bounty, like raiding random peoples carts..escorting carts...spy hunting...bounty hunting...assasin in dungeons...school wars...where people expect pvp opposition but no you wanted to run around and hit random people who were probably lesser skilled and not expecting it...you wanted to gank..which is fine you got to gank 30 times apparently now you are stuck in jail for a day. Complaints like this are how I know the pvp justice system is working.

Link the advertisement that state AoW offers open PvP without consequences and you'd have a point. This is a pretty great thread though, keep coming back to it.

There are soooo many ways to kill other players without becoming a murderer. Do patrols for your school to catch spies, collect bounties, take part in wars. Random killing leads to jail time. It makes the game interesting and not just a Multi Player Arena. Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is! |

Originally posted by smokefin Lmao been there OP. Yeah, I have been there, made a post about it too lol. You killed 30 people >.< I mean it's ok to kill 30 people, but spread it out lol. Don't let your infamy go over 2k.
1st, You can pay your way out, or you can have friends break you out. 2nd Your time will not run if you are logged off, just don't log off. Go to sleep, go to work, w/e you'll be out soon.
The entire game is Wpvp. I have been unguilded up untill a week ago. You just don't go around killing everyone. For example you don't gank a low level while he is planting crops. Pick and choose. Choose wrong, be prepared to have a bounty placed on you.
Once you get a bounty, that's not the end. If you kill X amount of constibles per 10 silver put on your head, the bounty goes away. Another thing, constables can not place a bounty on you. You can kill as many of them as you want.
I kill a lot of people, but I've learned to do within the "legal parameter" or in around those parameters. Murder (outside of parameters) is not something you do all the time.
gl to you man, hope to see you back soon. Matter of fact pm me, I may have a home for you.

I never bounty someone who wins in a fair fight, if a group decides to go gank squad I may drop a bounty just to thin their numbers for a bit. (or pretty much any goon just out of principle) For instance we had two people attacking the twilight docks, in suzhou, they were picking people off one at a time and targeting the weaker people, so I just killed them both...great no problem some fighting in a pvp game is all good...but then they came back and resumed the activities, eventually one ressed on sight and got me killed...ok revenge is done..but no they stuck around and just kept being a pain so I dropped a 10 liang bounty on one of them and they quickly left. The mechanic does what it should do, it stops grief causing pvp...fighting on the docks was fine and win or loose I wouldn't care, but coming back after death time and time again and just being annoying is where most games run into the wall with pvp...the trolls just keep on trolling and you can't do anything about it so you get turned off to the idea of a open world pvp. But this one mechanic puts a stop to that because...depending on how annoying you think they are you can choose how much of your silver you wish to waste on getting them out of your hair...and trust me a 50 liang bounty will attract some pretty hard corp bounty hunters to come looking for the pay out.
You like open world PvP and ganking? Well let's hope you can go toe to toe with the bounty hunters coming to gank you now, either way you are now part of the pvp system and not an annoyance to players who are just trying to board a boat. I mean you have to be pretty annoying for someone to waste the hard to come by silver on when most people know a corrupt bounty hunter is 50% likely to get to you first and give you a good chunk of that liang. |

Advertised? I'm pretty sure they advertised jail. It's no secret that it was a risk.
If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game. |

This sounded really bad for the game until bcbully explained it better. Doesn't sound terrible now.. I'm not a big ganker, but there seem to be rules of engagement and I can live with that. Sounds kind of interesting, in fact.

Hey heres an idea, why dont you instead only pvp the people that dont have penaltys attached to them? Or are you so hardcore ya just have to kill everything that moves. Sound like you arnt very good at figuring out how the game was designed and now your complaining about your own failings. |
