I'm looking up part for him as we speak. However sometimes I feel it is best to let them know what they are looking at isn't a good choice. Since alot of people are impatient on these very forums.

I have a similar setup with an 8350 instead, a beefier PS and an SSD drive.  7.3 windows rating, the graphics card has the lowest system rating on it.  I'm happy with it.

If you put that video card in with the rest of that system and then try to play a fairly demanding game, I say you've got a 50/50 chance that the computer survives the first day.  Considerably less than that on lasting the first year.

If you've got a $600 budget, then you've got enough money for a viable gaming desktop, especially if you don't need new peripherals.  Don't try to get too clever and go with a cheap junk power supply and a pirated OS to make room for a faster video card.

Total with discounts is $598 unless you live in TN/CA/NJ. This doesn't include the $45 in rebate or the two new games. Also this does not include an OS, that is $100 oddly there are no deals right now. So you can spend $700 now, get rebate money and sell the games. Also I'd prefer an SSD but fitting one into your budget is tight unless you want to make sacrifices.

Now deals change all the time these prices are likely to change within 1-2 days. Sometimes better or worse comes along.

A friend of mine showed me this and asked what I thought and I told him about this site and he asked if I would post it here and get some advice on what he could get for 600$. The card looked ok but I was wondering about the Mb. Could I get a decent part list from you guys ?

Do you live close to a microcenter store?  Their AMD cpu/motherboard combos are fantastic and will save you real coin.

The FX6300 combo with either the Asus M597 or the Asrock 970 extreme4 will get you to decent (but not spectacular) overclocks plus are really inexpensive which fits right in yor wheelhouse.

I completely agree with Aori on the 7850 as your graphics card nothing compares for the price at the moment they overclock to insane levels with msi afterburner just remember if you choose to overclock look up a few guides first and always do it in small increments or you'll end up frying the card.

And may I suggest the Cooler Master Storm enforcer case it's a bit more than Aori's suggestion but IMO a very sexy case also its quite large for a midtower and more future proof with USB 3.0.

Also I have never ordered from them personally but I have heard horror stories from family friends about tigerdirect I would stick with newegg for all your computer needs, though now and then you can find a better deal on amazon.

Also if anyone wants a kickass laptop for only $700 use this I chose the 3rd gen I5 with the GT 650m but you can upgrade to an I7 1080p screen faster hardrive an ssd cache drive and even a backlit keyboard. This is prob the cheapest you will find with a GT 650m atm .

I know its an HP and their reliability has been hit and miss but they seem to have gotten better in the past few years according to friends I personally have a Lenovo so can't comment. Lenovo has the y480 for $750 but if i'm not mistake the 650m in it is downclocked.

Most importantly this proves you can get a decent gaming computer for $600 as this is you would get about 45fps at 1080p on gamer settings which is essentially lowish but this is still better than a console I have crysis 2 for ps3 and it runs at  30fps on an upscaled 1080p.

The 7850 1gb is capable of running Crysis 2 on ultra settings at an average of 45fps before overclock with overclock it should breeze through it with no issues. Though remember the rest of the rig has to be able to keep up.

Your link there is very old.  And it's not a good build, either.  It gets you a cheap junk power supply and motherboard in order to make room for you to overpay for an Nvidia video card that isn't very good.
