If D3 can be on this site, then PoE should heck as be.  I've been casually following the game for a while... even vaguely remember when it was first announced many many moons and sunrises ago.

For the record, I liked D3 for what it was.  There was a "charm" to it that was appealing.  What it did lack was the long-term, engaging gameplay that D2 was famous for.

I think GGG has some great ideas and you can tell they love the genre and PoE... can't wait to play it.

 I'd say its more proof of how meaningless the hypemeter here really is. Last month DFUW was the biggets hype , every month its slightly different when a small fanbase figures more hype will help and makes tons of alt accounts to hype their game of the month.

 Purests are funny. If you don't like that MMORPG.COM covers games that don't fall into your strict opinion of MMO's (even though theres alot of interest in said games) you can always go elsewhere right? You know walk the walk instead of just talk the talk.

Nope, it's more of that whenever a game comes out with something via announcement or some talk or a demo  then that jumps up their hype significantly.

Well it is NOT an MMO and was never advertised like one, so everything is fine. It's just mmorpg.com not being clear of what they want to talk about or kids raging because they talk about good non-mmo online games.

Obviously MMO and games like D3 share an audience. Case in point, Blizz sold 1.2M annual pass to WOW players who want to play D3. And probably a lot more to other WOW players.

The game style is close enough to many MMOs. Hit a button, drop into a dungeon with 3-6 players. Ring a bell?

It;s an MMO not an MMORPG. So what you are saying is that hype = proof? Interesting theory...do you also believe accusations = evidence? The mmo genre is fine and will continue to be fine with or without crybabys that burn themselves out on a genre and then demand a reinvention of the wheel. It's like watching a child play with a new toy..get sick of it after 15 minutes...toss it aside and then have tantrum b/c they want a new toy! The other one is old and uninspired after all.

It's not the first time this happened, and it won't be the last....

If nothing, PoE is what Diablo 3 should've been and I'm glad people like the game.
