Basically to be very straightforward my little cousin is about to buy a gaming pc pre-built for $1000 because he has no idea what parts to pick. I know from reading here that he can get alot more for less by building it himself. Anyone have any suggestions for an $800 gaming rig. He mostly plays fps games. I believe he has all peripherals but he will need a copy of windows so I am thinking he is limited to $800-900.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

Originally posted by Quizzical I was mistaken he has everything except the os. So it would be $1000 including a windows license. |

Originally posted by hockeyplayr Isn't that what you said in your original post, though? Let me make sure I have this straight. In the $1000, your cousin needs a Windows license, a case, and everything that goes inside the case (CPU, video card, memory, hard drive, etc.). But he already has all of the hardware that does not go inside the case: monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, surge protector. Do I have that straight? |

Here you go: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1174444 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130645 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820239045 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416550 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151256 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145299 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129066 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182071 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161426 That comes to $1009 including shipping and before $23 in rebates. He might want to upgrade the video card in a few years, but the rest of the system should last a very long time or until a part dies, whichever comes first. |
