Originally posted by tiefighter25 This site allows you to view a person post history. Not that hard to tell if someone plays a particular game or just bashed it cause they like to waste years of their life bashing a video game they dont play. As play 2 win as I see it would require you to buy top end gear that is better than anything else in game. Because you can buy a rep bonus (like every other f2p) does not make it p2w. You still need to play the game to get rep. A person that does rep bonus is not guaranteed to get there before someone that does not buy the bonus. Therefore this example of p2w us purely inaccurate. Please give another example of p2w in swtor. |

Apparently you could Just read my post history for more examples, although that could be construed as wasting your life.

Originally posted by pioneer08 Well next time you do your due diligence research into who plays the game and who's opinions are valid or not by going through post history, you could take notes and such on if there are any accurate points tucked in there. Kill two birds with one stone as it were. I thought I had a valid concern as to the future of the game, but apparently my opionion is invalid. So I guess enjoy the option to pay extra money to reduce the length of reputation grind. |

Originally posted by BadOrb i play on a pvp server so i dont know the answer to this, but do you get flagged automatically on pve servers when entering the ilum pvp area? because if so, then i think you probably will be auto flagged since thats where it is suppose to be. one of the reasons they put it there is because they saw how the world bosses in outlaws den during the rakghoul event created pvp battles, and want to try and replicate that
as for the gear in the screens, i so want this for my trooper: |

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 You will not be buying reputation, you will be buying a boost to you as you pursue reputation. This works just like the leveling boosts that give you more experience for an hour while you play. |

this to me is just a great justification for cancelling my account after they released the free to play cartel market. I feel like this game is warhammer online all over again but with star wars. This so called expansion to reminds me of about the same amount of content that they gave warhammer with the 10$ mini skaven expansion patches. I know this is pretty much the only star wars mmo on the market and there is a lot of fans of the movies and books but people need to stop holding onto hope that this game will ever live up to the Star wars brand in any way but a cash grab.

Uhm....they are adding slider that fills up every time when you do daily. Now...whats so exciting about that lol since how many dailies ive done i should be granted max rep immediately (though im 99,9% sure i wont get it) And yah, this is "big Ilum revamp". Talking about dissapointed. |

Originally posted by gaou Yeah at the present time if you go into that PVP area on Ilum you do get auto flagged on a PVE server. The amount of arguing on the offcial forums about it is mad. We don't even know if they have got rid of that flag yet but I think BioWare actually want people to engage in PVP in these type of areas now and again. Like the Rakghoul event and the HK parts in outlaws den. Yeah that trooper armor looks sick. There is another picture of someone wearing some armor which glows even more than that one too. My only problem might be that if you do get flagged then isn't it best I carry PVP and PVE armor as there seems to be bosses and PVE content involved with this. I will need expertise or i will be roflstomped. There goes my inventory space. Cheers, BadOrb. PSO 4 years , EQOA 4 months , PSU 7 years , SWTOR launch ongoing , Defiance launch ongoing. |

Originally posted by Ahnog You spend less time to achieve "Legend" with a reputation, thus you are, in fact, buying reputation. It's not just some cruddy reputation either that you get while leveling up .. it's end-game reputation.
I don't like the system very much. I'd prefer that end-game players actually "achieve" their achievements .. not buy them flat out (like Space Combat ship upgrades), or get them faster than everyone else (like patch 1.7).
If you could accelerate some sort of gain in low level content, fine. But touch end-game material and that's a new ball game. Fans keep arguing on behalf of EA that this is truly a MMO, and space combat didn't matter anyways (justifying P2W for Space Combat). So whats next, reputation doesn't matter either?
Will morality (dark / light side) points be on the Cartel Market soon? Can we soon be able to buy social points? How about end-game commendations - someone would earn them too over time anyways, right? How about a 50% commendation boost? That's fair and not P2W, right? .. right? .. they would have earned them eventually anyways ...
All that stuff besides story that added to longevity can now (and soon) be monetized. EA is trying to burn SWTOR out quick, apparently. What a cluster fuck.
People like me wanted SWTOR to drift away from WoW .. but this is not what we had in mind. I never saw WoW sell reputation on their cash shop. Or, to liken Space Combat with fishing (solo side shows) .. I never saw Blizzard sell exlusive fishing poles or high-end bait in their cash-shop either. It was earned in-game. Either you got it (questing likely, bait unlock etc), or you sucked and could not - real money never came into place.

Originally posted by BadOrb I really don't see the issue with this. I've run my Bounty Hunter thru most of the PVE content in this game and he wears PVP gear. I'm currently doing the HK quests and having no issues. I would have preferred that there was no expertise in this game and just had one type of gear, but oh well. Of course now on the forums you have the usual carebears pitching up a storm because Bioware added content that requires PVP. I just tell them if they don't like PVP then avoid the PVP planet. NGE killed SWG. Get over it like the rest of us did in 2005. |

Thanks for getting my point Karteli, but either the majority of SWTOR's playerbase, or at least it's vocal defenders, have been conditioned that the slippery slope to Pay To Win is the norm and perfectly acceptable. I guess I'm getting called Chicken Little; I keep saying the sky is falling when it's just a harmless metorite shower. When has a little space rock precipitation ever hurt anyone? |

Originally posted by ktanner3 It isn't a huge concern of mine and by what you said it should be ok to play the event with just the pvp recruit gear. before the 99 tionese crystals people would use the PVP recruit gear to do HM FP anyways to get them on the ladder , so this shouldn't be any different really. If it turns out to be PVP gear and a PVP event then so be it we had two PVE events so far , so why not. Their reasons for adding level 10 +41 expertise crystals to the game was about getting people to have the same expertise , to narrow the gap and the fact they aren't better than the level 50 +41 crystals. I might even get a few of them when we know more about the event. Cheers, BadOrb. PSO 4 years , EQOA 4 months , PSU 7 years , SWTOR launch ongoing , Defiance launch ongoing. |
