Homogenized MMORPGs need to start copying some of the better FPS games out there. Ironic. http://lyrics.iztok.org/verse/Lynyrd_Skynyrd/Simple_Man/80615 |

My thoughts on a lot of people I've encountered who don't like PS2::: The game offers more scale and diversity than any other FPS out there There are more locations to fight over than any other FPS. If someone likes scale in shooters more than arena based maps and still don't like PS2, then I have my doubts on whether FPS is their cup of tea in the first place.
To OP: To me, this game offers everything I could ask for from a shooter. If you feel like you keep doing the same thing over and over, then I think you aren't trying out new ways of playing enough. You can be a liberator pilot, a fighter pilot, a galaxy pilot, you can set up spawn points using the sunderer or simply use it to transport people. There are a lot of roles that you can fill in this game, and all of them are important. If you think that it's redundant, then I don't think you are playing it properly. Either that or you simply cannot stand shooters, because shooting people is pretty much the primary goal of all shooters. |

personally i am really liking PS2. it's totaly free, it's the biggest fps map i've ever seen, it runs amazingly well even on my crappy comp while keeping some very sharp graphics, it's got a ton of upgrades i can work towards, each role is quite uinque, it's got an awesome grouping system, planes, tanks, turrets, strategy, MASSIVE ammount of people (or at least it did a few weeks ago).....did i mention that it as TOTALLY free?....... ......what the heck else do you want?.....seriously people....listen to yourself whining. |

Originally posted by denshing Pretty much. The games ultimate goal is pew pew pew, but how you do it is up to you. If you play one role and get tired of it, try something new. Most classes stock will offer something. Save about 500 certs and place them into a few things in each class and you can do whatever you want ie: repair, heal, hack, vehicles, fly etc. S.C.I.F.I |

The strength of Planetside 1 were strategical possibilities, there are none in PS2. It is just a dumbed down shooter ala Battlefield and offers nothing of the diversity and scale which PS1 did offer or the alternative mmofps ww2online/Battleground Europe, which was even bigger in scale than PS1. Those were the two major mmofps with strategical gameplay for years.

/agreed. Saying the game is free is like saying it's free to walk into a candy store or casino. We learn early in life that 'free' is almost always followed by some high pressure sales pitch. Which is exactly the case with all these 'free' MMOs. 'Free' games also open the flood gates for hackers. Playing: Rome Total War, Master of Orion II, Majesty 2, and Telengard. |

PS2 is a war sim, not a shooter. If you play it like a shooter you will have about as much fun playing this as ARMAS 2 - you need to be in an outfit, you need to play coordinated with other people. End of story. |

Love the game, I'm a mmorpg guy though. AoW has firmly placed PS2 as my change of pace game. I haven't needed a change since Dec. 20th though...
As far as shooters go, I look at it like this, there was golden eye, then CoD, now PS2. Everything else was just filler. DamonVile- Games built for disposable players are now apparently built by disposable employees. |

It would have been if they just made Planetside 2 and not Planetside vs Battlefield.
