Take me, I'm in the US but one of my parents was directly from the Balkans so I'm taller than average at 5'7" 1/2. One parent was 5'2" and the other was 6'5" so I took from the taller side of the family. I am though taller than most women I see around and yes, small people look like children to me in a way. I think it does seem pedo to be interested in short pre-pubescent female figures but they are popular in Asian countries. So many people are built that way and for many years it was lack of food. When is the last time you heard of a famine in the US. Recently I heard the story of "Escape from Camp 14". They talked about being so hungry in Korea they ate dirt and tree bark. Yeah, that is not going on in the west.

Add in that you can get fined for being overweight in Japan, http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/japan/091109/fat-japan-youre-breaking-the-law it just compounds that they take skinny seriously. Too bad though, skinny never outlasted a siege in history. It's always the chubbier people that can withstand lack of food and survive. It's also easy to hurt a skinny country by refusing to import food to them, nasty position to put yourself in. Then again, when you have a high population, maybe you don't care if citizens can weather a storm or war :P As Scrooge might say, "If they'd rather die then perhaps they had better do so and decrease the surplus population".

I just recently and extensively played my first Asian MMORPG (Uncharted Waters Online). So I get where the OP is coming from. And I'm not completely clueless. Ive seen a some anime/manga/hentai too. But my inclination is more to laugh rather than be offended by it. Yet it can somewhat detract from my immersion in a game...

Still, this to me is more like a lot of members here sometimes say about graphics. What really matters is the gameplay. And if that's good, then I'm willing to forgive a little Asian weirdness.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I think the western world is too much into control and censorship, to the point that we try to blame school shootings on movies and video games. Yet other countries that are into the media as much or more than us don't see half the violence we see. And on the other hand, it's the countries that aren't into movies and video games as much as we are that see more violence than we do. We see a half naked girl and it's almost offensive. Whereas it's OK in many places elsewhere. Alot of it doesn't make sense either. We can go to the beach and see girls in bikinis and thongs, but if they should wear something that's slightly LESS revealing elsewhere, it's shameful. 

I'm not saying one is right and one is wrong. Just that there's nothing wrong with either.

I find it funny that people try to label the eastern culture as some sort of perverts, yet even in our culture we make more emphasis on it in rela life. The more "developed" women the prettiest ones, Shun those that are chubby, and are into how we look more than any other culture I can think of. Just look at our entire fascination with straight teeth. Most of the others don't even care about it, unless they're in some sorta of beauty contest or on TV. 

We're all attracted to the same qualities, just in different ways. 

On a side note, Bless looks like it's trying to work towards GW2.

In reality, it's very simple to "westernize" an Asian MMO.

Make the males look more rugged and tough. At the moment, they all look like kids / Justin Beibers.

Make the women look less like pedophile-bait.

Tone down the neon blues, pinks, and reds.

Replace the hi-pitch "Yah!" combat sounds.

Replace the music.

After spending 4 months in Japan and seeing how they objectify Anime characters to the point that they make... silicone replicas... of their cartoon parts, this game seems very mild.

OP:  This is part of the culture of gaming.  It extends beyond the borders of your country which you probably haven't thought about.  The culture of skimpy animated women is stronger in Asia and with the proliferation of the internet, their culture is being spread to other parts of the world.  Accept it or avoid it; that is up to you.  If you want to avoid it, you may have to live in a cave without internet, though.

I don't need soft core porn with my mmo. When I see graphics like these advertised, I stay far away from that game. Just the way I see things. I know that porn is a huge thing over in Asia and that part of the world, that is their choice. I just choose to ignore it.

To me I find it a lot more funny that male Asian characters look very effeminate, I know its a cultural thing, but I am not a fan of that at all.

Chicks in minis - yes please.

That part of the art style of eastern games bothers me least.

What bothers me most is the standard issue "little girl with animal ears" "metro-males"  "bad haircuts"

Every asian game seems to have a pedo race and a furry race, and the males in the game are sometimes more girly than the girls.  I get that its a culture thing but would it kill them to make a luberjack style male that looks like he would actually use that oversized sword to hurt me and not use to as some type of decorating or interior design tool.  Also the standard issue pedo race slash furry female hybrid really makes my stomach turn.

I feel you man.  Its the biggest turn off for me from Asian Games.  Skimpy outfits and huge honking swords.  So unrealistic it hurts.  Chainmail Bikinis and telephone Poles for weapons.  Pfft yea right.

Please..don't know about you but i play games, mmos in particular, to get away from reality.  The bigger the weapon and the smaller the outfit the better

Got to agree, it is absurd, misogynistic, and slightly disturbing with some of the pre-pubescent looking characters/ races.  Just give them armour, they are supposed to be fighting.

Why not?

The asian style does not appeal to me personally, so i just dont play the games, watch anime, read comics, ect . with that style.

But I do understand that it appeals to a very large audience, and not just in asia. I see it as a choice, if you dont like it then choose not to buy it. Spend your time and money on something that does appeal to you.

Plenty of options to choose from.

I wouldnt mind a game haveing a sort of red district in it but, but i think  havein em naked all the time   gets old( like say if neriak had a seedy strip joint

Except that it's not about realism. It's about style and art design.

If people would shift their paradigms a little and realize that these asian characters are less like realistic warriors and more akin ot super heroes they might at least understand it a bit more even if they don't like it.
