The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. |

sifi not made a decent show in years. The gotten away from their root, and some of the stuff the put on. They took the great show that Startgate from HBO and screwed it up so bad the finally took it of the air, putting Cladia Black on totaly screwed up the team dynamic, and Ben Browder shoud have stuck with Kriton. Then they canceled caprica, canceld farscape, made bsg come up with a crapy end. I don't have high hopes for this show, sifi got a track record of turning out cheep crapy shows and movies the past few years, and making terible desisions on the good shows. Not to mention the graphics for defiance, seam to be lacking.

In b4 it turns out to be another generic quest driven piece o'shit like pretty much all the mmo\ over the last 7 years.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either: A. Proven right (if something bad happens) or B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens) Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime! |

The fact that this is being made by Trion alone gets me interested. The whole tie-in with the TV series and the post-apocalyptic theme just adds to the intrigue.

Rift didn't really grab me, even though it's obvious it's a well-made title, but THIS... this looks really fun.
no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

I doubt the game is going to be much MMO. Probably going to be heavily instanced/phased with maps limited to around 30-40 people and of course its going to be a quest driven pos. From the looks of it, the only thing that makes it different than any other MMO out there is the fact its a 3rd person shooter.

Only had a short time with some PvP at PAX earlier in the year but DAMN. I went from "meh" to insta-buy, it was amazing. Seeing this just hypes me even more.

Looks pretty damn amazing to me. Then again I was a huge fan of Tabula Rasa despite what others may think. This is one game I look forward to next to the Repopulation. |

Originally posted by FromHell It may look like Firefall, but it plays nothing like it. Having played both, it is instantly apprent that the games are vastly different and frankly not in the same league. Defiance game engine is far smoother and more responsive than Firefalls, also I can't tell you how frustrating it is to line up for an across the map headshot and missing, because Firefall is not a pixel perfect shooter, but Defiance is. Pretty huge difference IMO, not even gonna go into the scope and depth of Defiance. firefall is just a lot smaller, a lot simpler gameplay wise IMO, it will appeal to a different audience. |

Well, it sure is new and shiny. So what's gonna keep me playing this after a month or 2? This is why I don't get the concept of a MMOFPS(or MMOTPS). I've never felt the need for a shooter to be "massive." Is there any actual MMO elements besides the massive part? Or is this just going to be a kill-fest orgy that will get boring in a month?

Originally posted by SlickShoes Umm if by cross platform you mean PC/PS3/Xbox 360 players all playing on the same servers then that is not happening with any version of the game. All platforms will have there seperate servers, and, this is from someone I talked to that works at Trion and is involved in this game, you can blame Microsoft for that. Unless something has changed since then in which case disregard what i just said. |

To coin an old cliche it shows promise. Trion certainly know how to produce games, I just wonder if they can manage to come up with a compelling reason to keep shooting stuff. I hope so, but I'm not sure the TV crossover will be enough.
