It would be more enjoyable if Anet didnt keep nerfing drop rates into oblivion, and forcing peoples hand into doing specific dungeons to get specific items. When I have the need to gamble, i go to the bookies or play at the casino.

lol...a fun guide...like so many others have said....when you need to post this for a game, it tells you everything about it. I've tried countless times to like this game and "have fun' but it just doesnt work. This is most certainly not an explorer's game though...I still have yet to find anything worth exploring... |

Originally posted by Kuppa Drop rates have been diabolical since the post lost shores event, salvaging rares has also been hampered since lost shores, why the globs and dyes have more than doubled in price. No announcement since lost shores that they reverted the drop rates back to how they were before then. ![]() My XIVPad: |

Originally posted by Randayn I'm having fun and didn't need a guide so I don't really think it needs it. Maybe you could post a guide for the opposite that would help me and other not enjoy the game? Or maybe what we like is just different, I'm guessing the former. Also disagree on the explorer's aspect of the game but I'm guessing our definitions are different so we are both right. |

I feel sorry for you that you have such extreme ennui that you actually have to post in a GW2 forum to express yourself. You should see a psychiatrist and get medicated for it. I suggest lithium. |

Originally posted by Maelzrael I really didn't find this to be true. I played this game for about two months and can honestly say that I was never in a group with other players, although I tried. I tried to talk to folks and attempted to group, but people were too concerned with running around and getting stuff done quickly to even acknowledge me most of the time. I spoke with several of my friends who also played and their experience was similar. There was very little social interaction between players. Since the game bascially puts you in groups, there was no reason to form one. Now I'm sure if you find a good guild, this may not be an issue; but in my experience.. this was the most anti-social mmo I've ever played.
And to your closing comment.. I went back to WoW and have been playing about a month now. I've fould a ton of helpful people, and with the Cross realm zoing, there have been a ton of people around in the zone and I have been grouping like crazy for questing. I haven't seen a whole lot of trolls around. I think most of the WoW trolls have moved on. At least, that is my experience. |

It's amazing to me how many people don't like this game yet can't seem to stop talking about it. If you think it sucks, move on. If you have a legit gripe, by all means let's talk about it. But make sure you get your facts straight first. i.e. GW2 is not a very good example of an "on rails" kind of game....unless you want to play it that way. That's the beauty of it in my eyes; you can play it pretty much however you want.
As for an "Enjoyment Guide", I applaud the idea but I think that those who will enjoy it will just enjoy it by playing it. Those who don't enjoy it will just come on this site and bitch about it. |

Originally posted by botrytis I think he was bascially saying that the game is a theme-park and leads you from one area to the next with a scripted story that drives you along. In that sense... he's absolutely correct. I don't think he meant that every step you take around the zone is scripted. I mean, once you're in a zone you can run around, but you will indeed be lead to the next area. The only difference I experienced was that you could go back to earlier areas with no penalty as it leveled you back down. |

Originally posted by evolver1972 Without knowing why people don't like it... how would anything ever improve? While it's true that not everyone will like the same game due to different taste, I think it's a good thing to discuss what players do or don't like about it. Wouldn't you agree?
How would anything improve if everyone just sat around patting each other on the back and telling each other how great the game is? |

GW2 is not on rails not even close I can't even understand that you even thinks the same, SWTOR on the other hand is ON rails, you go to quest hub A, do them til you get the next quest that directs you to quest hub B. GW2 is not like that you can wander around doing what you feel like doing you are not forced to complete A-B-C-D to progress to E. So I guess you played GW2 like he did, followed the heart quests and did some of the basic DEs in noob zone and called it a day and start writing incomplete nonsense and ignorant posts here. I won't say GW2 is the best that ever happend to the genre and GW2 is not for everyone but saying GW2 is on rails with no freedom is just plain wrong. If it's not broken, you are not innovating. |

Only thing that are scripted are your story and that's the only thing the rest is pretty much open world and no you can't have fun in lvl 80 zone when you are lvl 20 but the thing is you are not forced to only do human zones when you are human, you can wander around to other racial zones and experience them and level up, so basicly you always have several zones to level up your toon to max. If it's not broken, you are not innovating. |

The OP is actually quite good, but it's not really a guide... it's more like common sense. It could be made shorter... This is not a WoW clone, if you play it like a WoW clone you will miss a lot. Explore and try everything, hearts are only a tiny part of the content and if you only do those you miss a lot. If you play GW2 by doing hearts like you did quests in WoW clones, it's not GW2 which fails, its you who must get rid of bad habits. |
