Originally posted by lizardbones Umm, this is the same thing people were saying w'hen GamersFirst took over APB. That game is still flooded with hacks. I just don't think it's feasibly possible to stop hacks in these online FPS games. It's like killing cockroaches. The only way they are going to put some sort of dent in this is to sue the hell out of every hack maker there is. Other than that, these games are destined to fail. Release a game with a very large established fanbase from 10+ years of bnet history when the market was still emerging and the casual base had not yet been established, thus ripe for harvesting a momentious self perpetuating playerbase people never leave because they have X hours invested in their characters, and their friends and everyone else plays anyway. Not discounting Blizzard quality... but WoW's success is as much about perfect timing as it is quality, if not more so. - Derros |

It doesn't take a large percentage of people to cheat, to ruin a game.
I can't remember the specific country but I think it's Taiwan, recognizes virtual items as being a "goods" and the theft of virtual items as being a crime. So as the world starts to embrace the fact that there is more to virtual items than just fantasy and pretend, these cheaters might end up facing more than just account bans. It's definately a possibility to see cheaters fined for damages to companies as well as the people that create the cheat tools to be fined horrendous amounts for damages.
I personally would think it to be hilarious, if some cheater was fined $10,000.00 for cheating in a public game. All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick. |

The OP is pretty much full of it - they took the leaderboards down because there were well-known bugs (like 0 deaths if you were logged out) that they need to fix.
Cheater posts are all over the place because that's how cheater coders advertise. |

Originally posted by InvalidString Yes the leaderboards were bugged but he isn't wrong on rampant cheating. SOE has admitted its a real problem and to this point one they have made no progress on. I spend 90 percent of my time in a tank for just this reason. Even then I was sniped out of my tank by a aimbotter on a couple of occasions as well. |

I call BS... I am VS on Waterford with Crimson Wing Outfit and I am one of those people that have been doing 14-18 hour days. Even though we are outnumbered constantly we have held a cont lock on Indar for 4 days now with out any of our people cheating. Granted the TR have been explointing with the blinking hack, aimbots, last night we ran into a max who could teleport around, and now they have resorted to rolling level 1 VS on alt accounts and team killing us to try and break our defense. However the statement " FULL of hacks " is just not true. There are hackers granted but SOE is taking the hacking issue very seriously and going after hackers aggressively. |

I believe that most people that deny that this is going on are using hacks as well. Who wouldn't be against ridding a game of hacks? Oh, and let's get serious here. These kids are not "hackers". They are called "script kiddies" in industry terms. I'm taking a break from this game until it's all sorted out. When that happens, is entirely up to SOE. |

games that are infested with hackers NEVER get fixed dunno people don't realize this, what happens is they make a bunch of PR posts about how serious this is. Then they start banning hackers and the hack program they use get marked as detected and no one is supposed to use it until the coding is tweaked slightly and the whole process starts all over again. I have seen games infested with aimbots IMPROVE but if you have a massive hacker problem at the onset of the game its already too late to fix.

I don't feel there are a lot of hackers in this game at all - and to be honest even if there are some their chance of surviving a firefight is no bigger than any normal players here since there is no place to camp or hide (unlike games like APB).
You may find a place it safe, until armors and air units found you, lol.
I think because the fact that the role of one individual infantryman is so insignificant in the scheme of things and also that there are so much chaos in the battle that not even hackers can track them all, this game is in much better shape than others even if there are some hackers.
Plus, I'm certain that SOE is doing something.

I agree it needs to be fixed ASAP...however, at the moment I am more likely to die from ESF pod or hover roach HE spam.

Hackers and exploiters plague these games just as much as in real life. There will always be dicks, douchebags, and sore losers there to shit on your fun.
Give SOE some time they will work out the kinks! |

I don't hack, yet I'm rocking a 4:1 KDR in total, and rising, even started exclusively as lib pilot which made my KDR low, but after a long session, my stats are usually around 200-250 Kills / 30-40 death. If 75% of all players were hackers (As mentioned by OP) there would be no way I could have done what I've done.
Now, I'm not saying this specifically to anyone in here, but sometimes you just got to look at your own play and think "How could I have done this or that better", and sometimes it's just pure bad luck.. It usually comes down to skill, however it's always easier to blame it on hacks. (We saw the same thing in APB, there were hackers, no doubt about it, but it was far from as rampant as people made it out to be)
Here's a few tips to get kills without getting killed yourself, this might be the boring way to do things, but it helps you get xp / certs faster.
The things listed are the ones I go by, and I do just fine, I don't find myself getting owned repeatedly by hackers, but then again, I usually drive or fly vehicles as an Engi, or play Heavy in situations where I have to be infantry. (Edit: And also, these are for solo play, if you play in an outfit you could be asked to stand your ground even when outnumbered. /EndEdit) I like this game a lot, I won't be chased off by cheaters.. But I do hope that SOE will be monitoring and banning those fools. And if not, then they'll probably leave by themeselves when they get bored, I can't imagine a software that plays a game for you, can be fun for very long.
