I find legacy to be one of the most appealing aspects of the game, and I'm glad they've opened it up earlier. You still have to pay for the perks. I personally focused on the shp upgrades (mailbox, repair droid, GTN). SWTOR continues to be a great game, and f2p just makes it better. |

Originally posted by erictlewis Yesterday and the day before I was comparing tor status with actual server statuses. When tor status shows heavy or heavy... there were actually plenty of full and very heavy servers. I checked both EU someting around 2 PM EST and US at 8 PM EST. This is snapshot of EU servers taken just now - 10:20 AM EST (it would be 4;20 PM in EU I think) , it's too early for US, I will post one later Xfire jumped significantly in last 2 days, SWTOR is now 10th the most played game

I would give the F2P a try if they changed the sluggish combat. I found the combat post level-30 extremely boring.

I wouldnt say f2p ruined swtor, the way the game was created made it ruin itself. If it was a good mmo overall (by covering the aspects/system it lacks) it wouldn't have had to go f2p in the first place.

Release a game with a very large established fanbase from 10+ years of bnet history when the market was still emerging and the casual base had not yet been established, thus ripe for harvesting a momentious self perpetuating playerbase people never leave because they have X hours invested in their characters, and their friends and everyone else plays anyway. Not discounting Blizzard quality... but WoW's success is as much about perfect timing as it is quality, if not more so. - Derros |

Originally posted by Umbrood you were always able to get these upgrades with your legacy. That did not change with F2P. It's pretty pricy though. These are convenience perks. Most of other MMOs have these kind of stuff available for players too... like mailbox in house in EQ2. Not sure what it is that is bothering you about them.

Originally posted by Sevenstar61 F2P ruins all P2P games really, except maybe STO which can be played a lot without paying anything, but at least other games gone F2P are more playable via F2P, than SWTORs F2P. You say you can get more cool things with CC. I'd rather get more cool things by playing the game from more content. Until they allow more slots in F2P then the Legacy system is pointless in F2P. I did not expect they are actually going to make you pay for action bars and restrict you to 5 pvp games a week with no ability to purchase full pvp unlock from market !

Originally posted by DEXA88 some of that is probably to combat farmers etc, thing have to remember, is that its a microtransaction based game now, you can bypass most of it by subbing, but if you don't sub, then you will have to pay a certain amount on a regular basis for certain types of gameplay, and as PVP and Operations etc are considered to be 'endgame' you are encouraged to sub for them, or be prepared to pay, and pay, and pay to do them, and still have reduced rewards from them too, awesome, F2P in SW;TOR is more of an unlimited trial, if you look at it in that sense then the game won't disappoint too much, and if by chance you like playing it, then go P2P, simples. |

Originally posted by superniceguy I didnt spend any extra time on legacy. I just levelled my characters like normal and ..bam....I was eligible as soon as it was put in game. I really don't see your point as much of a bother. As far as why Legacy unlocks earlier..thats simply because there are a shite-ton of legacy unlocks in the Cartel store...and they want our money. Kinda shitty and greedy but still really doesnt affect playing except to give us another method to unlock the "perks". Granted..most of the perks suck anyway but I'd much rather unlock them in the store as I want them..if not..just continue playing until they unlock themselves or I feel like spending credits. Notice I said "want"..because we really don't need any of the stuff. Personally I enjoy the option and will really enjoy buying a Cartel pack from time to time to get some neat little things like speeders..emotes..armor. Got a cool speeder already and a trinket that makes my eyes glow red for 60 seconds with a short cooldown. Another piece of armor that is an invisible chestpiece that can be modded....so it looks lik you're bare chested..lol. |
