I will be putting gw2 back on the shelf for a while myself but not due to the reasons of the OP. The new gear is only a couple of stat points in difference so no real biggy there. I think most people a severly over reacting there lol. For myself the glaring issues of gw2 are: A- No functional form of LFG B-No mounts C- No player housing D- an over all lack of content and E- Over all the game is great imho BUT it is extremely shallow and lacks a depth that i am surprised is not there after 7 yrs of development. I also realised that after playing this game that i really miss questing, not those publice hearts ewwwww boring and not being led from hub to hub but genuine interesting unique and epic story driven questing! with rewards that equal the amount of effort required to complete them.
7 years of development? 7 years ago they started on Guildwars: Utopia. GW2 do have some stuff from that but it really was made in 5 years, like most MMOs.
Player and guild housing have indeed been in work for at least years but not really been implemented yet. As for lack of content vanilla games havnt had more content at launch since ever, EQ might be huge but it didnt had this much at launch and neither did Wow.
As for "Shallow" am I not sure there ever was a "deep" MMO, if there was it was a sandbox but it is frankly really hard to make a game for millions of players without it becomming shallow.
The content thing will solve itself after a while and so will player housing. LFG and mpunts is hard to tell (heard of guild? they solve the LFG thing fine). The game will stil be shallow though but I hardly think quests that tells you exactly what to do would be deeper.
Personally I dont miss quests the least, but I think the DEs needs to evolve more to be what they should be.
guess we have to agree to disagree, this being a forum, I stated my opinion and u state urs etc etc lol u dont misss quests i do meh and fyi guild derp 70+ dosnt change the fact there lfg tool is a massive fail and u get suppressed after a few lfg msg's. If they get it together in the future i may come back but lets face it a lot more will not. I dont want this game to fail but for me it dosnt have enough going for it atm it gets old hat, rinse and repeat very fast. If your not sure there ever was a deep mmorpg what about EQ,EQ2,UO, etc? but again being individuals our definitions of deep will obviously vary although i have to agree that making a game for so many players without it becoming shalow would be difficult. Oh and btw did i say they should implement questing ? or that it would solve any problems? no i did not lol i said this game made ME realise that I missed questing. Lets face it mechanics are greater than content but content is also very important, GW2 is an infant and i hope it grows in the right direction in the future.
