Originally posted by saxifr hey wait, was that sarcasm?? :D TBH I'm quite disappointed they simply NEVER acknowledge that their game designs has some holes, grand canyon size. Instead they blame the sub model. I wish they would just admit that they were not up to the task to make this game shine, but they now go back to the drawing board for a major revamp. Instead, many months lost for a F2P model, no revamp, no nothing |

Wow... so many trolls. Never? That is way over the top! If failures like Age of Conan and DDO got expansions, then I am pretty sure the #2 sub-based MMO is due for one or more, that being SWTOR. But yet, because people expected the game to reinvent the wheel and it didn't, we get this torrential downpour of negativity. Where is all the negativity for TSW , WoW, and GW2?
This community is really biased... smh.

Originally posted by Souldrainer I like swtor, played for 8 months and enjoyed it for the most part, but the thing that I enjoyed most about it was the leveling experience and that was mainly due the story, and thats the problem.
For a SWTOR expantion pack to be worth it, it would need to add 3/4 planets and continue with chapter 4 of the class story, thats 8 class stories, 16 voice actors for the main protagonists, 40 for companions and then all the supporting cast. Then ontop of that you have to voice the content on the 3/4 planets, then you have the flashpoints to voice, thats alot of voice actors to employ. Then you have to think about things like adding new classes, and all the voice work that would need.
I would love an expantion pack if I'm honest. Loved the agent story and the ending made me want more, I'm just not convinced it's cost effective due to all the voice work needed and tbh, if it didnt have all the voice work I dont think it would be worth coming back for. |

I stick to my earlier statement, although I would LOVE to see this game get an xpac, which "may" draw me back to playing it, possibly even paying a sub (c'mon, there's no reason to play it as FTP with THAT business model coming in).
I don't mind being led by my nose for STORY quests, but I'd prefer 1 or 2 alternate paths for xp grinding/questing on the way up. the game is FAR too static in it's pathing.
I'd much rather: Balmorra -> DK -> pick one of several planets/areas->Nar Shadda for story quest -> off to either planet X Y or Z for 10 levels (or *gasp* leave one for another when bored), etc Compared to the current linear path with no options or variance.
THAT may bring me back. |

I went for never as I don't see them willing to spend the amount of money it would cost to make an actual expansion for this game. But then there seem to be quite a few 'expansions' about that don't seem to expand anything and are such in name only.

now that the lucas films are in Disney, i think and the rights of the games are in disney. if they are, we may see Disney force EA to cancel the contruct for the game if finds it unprofitable. just a thought. |

Originally posted by Souldrainer Have you even seen AoC right now or is this just the parotting of "not enough content at launch"? AoC is a fantastic game right now with tons of content, and the game design is right. As for WoW, GW2 and TSW, the designs are working as intended and each game finds their target audience.
Anyway, for SWTOR the target audience was disappointed and it's time to go a few steps back, before they can take steps forward, that is the difference. I personally hope for a kind of "revamp" expansion, something like FFIV "Realm Reborn". TOR needs an expansion/revamp like this which is worthy of the IP. Plus space simulation is mandatory. Galaxies set the bar, as sad as it is for Bioware. Sooner or later they have to borrow features, ideas and the openness from SWG. F2P and more of the same content (FPs/OPs) won't bring the players back. |

I was one of the people who was anticipating SWTOR a great deal, I enjoyed it for a little while but was ultimately let down. It was a decent game but decent just didn't cut it for what it was supposed to be. I imagine there will be a fair few significant updates to the game but i don't think they'll have enough interest to justify producing a full expansion, so unfortunately my vote is for 'never'. KInda sad to see a game with such a huge amount of potential in this state. |

Originally posted by defector1968 It's VERY difficult to "force" someone to cancel a contract. That's why it's a contract. EA has an existing contract with Lucasarts and that contract is rock solid. Star Wars remains, as far as MMO is concerned, an IP that EA gets to use for another 5 years or so I would imagine. Don't go hoping that just because some other company owns the building that it's going to redesign all the rooms. |

Originally posted by defector1968 There would have to be a reason for them to go thru all the legal hoops with EA to try to get them to cancel a clearly legal and rock solid contract. Can you think of one? Don't say because they want to make a new MMO, because lets face it, this last few years hasn't exactly said to investors, "HEY LETS MAKE MOAR MMO GAMES AND LOOSE MONEY!". Two Star Wars MMo's have been stinkers in the past, Disney is many things but foolish with they're money and they're IPs is not one. SWTOR will remain EA's turd for the forseable future, hope if you want, but keep yourself grounded in the reality of how the business works. You've got well over 10 years of MMO gameing history to fall back on to tell you what's going to happen with this title. |
