I already had downgraded the game in my user ratings a week or so ago. It's a solid value for a B2P game, but it does start to get repetitive after a while. I'm not sure how it will make enough money from the cash shop to keep going for years, but they managed it with GW 1 so I guess it will probably happen.

oh wow, very objective method to rate every aspect of this game a "10".

Now that explains a lot. Thanks for the insight

Funny that you open a thread to ask for opinions, and later on, you come to negtavily comment all the possitive ones! You can´t call people objective, when you have commented about '' where is the roleplaying?! '', because your comment is also obejctive!

Role-playing, isn´t your experience of it, neither it is what you expect it to be. It is what the industry have decided it to be. Simply said, Guild Wars 2, can be considered as one of the best role-playing experiences in the industry, since it gives you the choices, the exploration and the bond between you and the gaming-world and its players. You maybe haven´t felt that, and that´s normal, because Guild Wars 2 isn´t for eveyone nor its philosophy and ideals, however, techincially, it is still offering role-playing, even if you are not kinda happy with it.

I am not saying that GW2 really has good roe-play, nor am I saying something against that. I am not even here to rate the game. I just wanted to comment your ''way of giving opinions'' and wanted to point out that you are doing it wrong.

+1 very much agreed:)

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Rating this game is strange for me, I can recognise that it is a pretty well made game, if I had to try an be objective and disregard my subjectivity, I would have to rate it around 8.5.

However, the gameplay/mechanics literally could not be worse imo, some of the most repugnant of any game I've ever played, ...I don't know if that is supposed to come into context while rating a game.  I orginally gave it 7, I don't really know if that is sincere or not.

I guess it's like asking someone who hates football, how they would rate football.

Role-playing, yeah..  MMOs are all terrible for roleplaying, because player characters have no place in the world, no lives, no purpose, they exist entirely to slaughter random wildlife ad nauseam, rather than anything more plausible.  You can make it up, sure, but that requires so much imagination, you might as well be laying in bed staring at the ceiling while you do it, rather than playing the game.

Well, thanks to the guys who rate everything a 10 by default which is made by Arenanet, this game with virtually no RPing got a 8.5 rating for RPing.

There is an aspect of sandbox games that makes RPing almost natural. I don't mean in the more hardcore theatrical type of RP (though that is true too), but I mean in a sense of you feeling like you are more attached to your character and playing with other people with that in mind.  I'm not a hardcore RP guy, but I was my charcter in SWG, not a puppetmaster.

A simple illustration of this is how I would log off in SWG.  I would almost always return to one of my homes or shops to log off, if not a city.  It just seemed right.  In themeparks, I just log on/off anywhere, because I have no real sense of being in a virtual world.  Silly, I know, but those details matter to me.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still

10/27/12 2:20:12 PM#25

Objectively, this game is an 8.5

A lot of positives:
Sound/music
Graphics/setting
Presentation
Combat
DE system
Three way pvp
personal story

Even though a lot of it doesn't particularly appeal to me, you cant deny its a high quality game. A lot of time and effort has been put into it and it shows. I think Anet's next mmo could be the home run Im looking for. But thats so far off its irrelevant haha

If you thought the events were dynamic, you'll think the stories are living.

Pretty pointless thread since you can go back and check the rating to see if anything changed don't you think? Unless of course you want to convince yourself about something...

Why do you care OP. You have made your dislike of the game more than abundantly clear. Do you have a need to feel some kind of justification for your attitude or something?

Why not do it for TSW instead.

The rating is still the same for me.

It is still way better than any other MMO that I had played before.

I rate the game about 8.5 overall. (still the same)

The 9 - 10 Stuff:

There are some 9 - 10 aspects of the game, like the cities and towns, then environment and ambience.  This game has the best  towns by a wide margin.  The towns in this game feel as large as entire zones of other games I play.  The ambience of the world and music are excellent for me because they integrated a lot of the thematics, from Guild Wars 1, very nicely.  There should be a way to reduce area/regional spam from my window.  If I want to make the DEs and markers harder to find I should be able to do that.  Kind of like how you can filter out monikers on a world map.

The 8.5 Stuff:

The parts that I would rate in the 8.5 range would be crafting and recipe discovery.  This could use a lot of fleshing out and polish, but the foundation has a lot of potential.

The 7- 8 Stuff:

The stuff I would rate in the 7 - 8 category would be the party interface.  Both RIFT and Wizards101 have more seamless dynamic grouping.  I rate the implementation of open tapping, loot distribution, and xp reward in open play a 9 - 10, but the clunky explicit party tools are too crude and dated.  The latter needs a lot of polish and a rework.  It gets a barely passing at 6.5.

The other aspect I would rate at a 7.5 would be the BLTC UI.  It almost works.  I like that the broker, gem store, and gold/gem conversion are all in the same interface, but I don't like how it feels when you use it.  It's laggy and clunky.  I do like how searchng has improved and how when you click on an item it offers you a lot of options with minimal window hopping.  They are improving it at a good rate so that's a plus too.

The 6 Stuff:

The stuff I would rate at 6 would be how the gem store is presented, how cosmetics work, and gem store items.  My rating for 6 basically means it works and someone could like it, but I don't.  I wold rather it either be removed or totally reworked.  I don't like some of the cosmetics.  While I don't think they're necessarily out of line with the tech, they look dorky and are out of line with the art theme.  It's dorky design because they should have chose more appropriate thematic counterparts.  Boxing gloves Tyria style is okay.  Boxing gloves Rocky IV style is dorky.  We all have differing opinions about cash shops and mine is that I wish they would push buffs and useful items over dorky looking fluff.

I don't like how town clothes works.  Cosmetic systems from RIFT, EQ2 and LotRO would be great examples of easily monetized implementations.  Making it easier and cheaper to reskin any item in the game would be an even better direction and could still be monetized but in a way that promotes game play rather than paper doll shopping.

FInally, I think the prices of the buffs and consumables in the cash shop are a little high.

And that is my explanation of the rating since just saying 8.5 doesn't seem to work for the OP.

2.1 Harsh I know, but truthfully its what I feel. Really taking a look and being honest with myself it made me change things up.

To be fair, I am harsh on games so my 2.1 would probably be more like a 4.2 for more normal people reviewing a game though so in that way, its not as bad, but stil weak in performance. More playable then some iffy F2P games but not something I'd brag to friends about.

curious though as you said you got a refund so the game now owes you nothing as all the money spent as been returned.. you have nothing to discuss about game mechanics and how to make them better because you think the game is garbage but basically are here just to rag on a game that gave you a full refund..

Well, this is a public forum.  Hating something and not caring about something are very different outlooks.  Posting your opinions, whether they are "negative" or "positive" is a form of entertainment in a sense (if it wasn't why would any of us), so it really doesn't matter if he has made his dislike of the game abundantly clear.  If he came here everyday for multiple hours, then I could see logic in avoiding a forum of a game you disliked, because then you're using these forums in a different context.  I don't think that is the case though, so what is wrong with his actions.

Essentially, you are just annoyed that he doesn't share your views....right?

if you can't see the difference between someone not having the same opinion or not liking a game and straight trolling.. then.. well i dunno

Sure, in exchange you can stop your fanboy rants and the word can be better place with one less 'hater' and one less 'fanboy' preeching in the section right?

Which in all fairness to us both, I do post legitament complaints and I can point out posatives in the game (just a lot less ) and I have seen you (though rarely) mention actually flaws for the game before so we aren't exactly the worst when it comes to each 'title' but we both are probably much too flawed to really be able to add worthwild input. Complain all you want about me but we are practically 2 people on the opposite side of the same coin right now and neither of us can really be considered a good judge for the game.

GW2 is a beautiful game.  But I don't feel compelled to do much of anything in it.  PvP is zerg left, zerg right as is WvW.  <shrug> Wish they had made a demo so I wouldn't have wasted so much $$$.

I didn't know you were a psychologist.  Conmacart asked a valid question... though they didn't employ a question mark (? <----- there, they can borrow one of mine).  There's actually more evidence to support that people are hating on something rather than "not caring" about it when they make constant posts and threads about how bad it is (like the OP), based on the human psychology of triggering a high when you fight for your "team" (detailed in a thread I posted in the general forums).  Same goes for GW2 fans.

Part of that high comes from seeing a bunch of people agree with you.  It's the entire mechanic behind forum warfare and arguments about one game being better than another.
