Why people pay to travel across the world, when they provide a completely free method, is beyond me. You save yourself one minute of travel by porting, a trivial difference at best. It's just senseless.

 

Getting from a location to LA is free via the Mists. Getting back to that location is not. If you want to port to a cap city for free and then walk all the way back to Orr then go for it. Most will Mists/LA then pay to port directly back to Orr I would imagine, at least it is what I do.

Why? just go to the priory and take the portal to fort trinity.....

Is indeed a good solution if you want to walk through all of Orr and not go straight to the Cursed Shore. But that's not often the case, especially if you have already done Orich run for the day.

Ive been selling a lot of stuff for a buyer price.  Occasionally I put a few items up for my own auction price and they sell well enough.  Its certainly more than a vendor would give me.  I did try to salvage a few pieces down to mats, but I felt like I got less out of them than possibly selling the materials out right. 

 

I'm also caucious of crafting, and haven't really done it....yet.  I'm unsure its worth it.   In WoW for instance, selling mats and never crafting made me a rich fella.  I could just buy what I needed instead of having to waste hours crafting and this is usually what I've done with mmos.  However here, everyone can harvest materials in the wild so I don't know if this is the wisest approach with this game. 

 

I am only a level 11.  I just started playing.  If you folks have any advice I'd greatly appreciate it.  Laugh at me.  Tell me what I'm doing wrong, etc.  Again I'd appreciate advice.  If what I said sounds reasonable let me know.  If not please do the same.  Thanks in advance. 

 I felt the same but dedicated some time to crafting.

If you make yellows there is money in it and I buy most of my mats.

e.g. at level 60 I could spend 10-12 silver on mats and sell 17-20 silver. not huge but not bad considering im buying mats at retail and I get XP.

On selling mats its worth it. most recipes at a decent level need a lot of mats and most aren't harvestable, they are drops.

I have easily bought 200 mats off trading post to make gear for market or myself.

For all whites, blue and most greens I sell to trader or salvage for mats.

 No one buys white or blue's since greens are so cheap.  If I post a blue there can be 500-1500 on sale.  I really don't think it can break the economy if there is no demand.

yea, there is a vendor within 1-2 min of walking anywhere in the world.  I have 12 slot bags as I went leather crafting.

One thing I have noticed is on the market most items I check are around 500 available.  Compared to launch which could have been around 5000! 

Next thing I am going to look at is the cost of purchasing items and salvaging mats.  May be slightly cheaper.

vendors are everywhere this dont justice thier stupidity :P

Also folks, you can right click any item in your inventory, and it should bring up an option to sell on the tradepost.  You can be out in the middle of nowhere and do this.  So why you would bother selling to a vendor I have no idea. 

Yes, you have to go to a tradepost to pick up your money.  But you can empty your inventory and sell on the tradepost this way if you are in the middle of nowhere.

 I get that but really why place for a fee when you can sell to any vendor? When have you been miles away from one?
