nice find!
I have to be honest with you. We have completely blown up the design of EverQuest Next. For the last year and a half we have been working on something we are not ready to show. Why did we blow up the design? The design was evolutionary. It was EverQuest III. It was something that was slightly better than what had come before it. It was slightly better. What we are building is something that we will be very proud to call EverQuest. It will be the largest sandbox-style MMO ever designed.--Smed |

math: SWG shut down december 15 2011. They supposedly knew December 2010ish. EQN design trashed back 18 months from october 2012 ...April 2011ish.. fits the timeline for the new design and is shortly after the time they found out SWG would be shut down. So that is a possibility, plus i read somewhere that devs said as much at Soe live regarding SWG and EQN. it also makes sense to reuse assets and systems where possible in the game so i could see them doing this. I also dont think many would be unhappy with that. as far as the tiered subscription plan..well all soe games pretty much have the same plan. No guesswork there. THE PLOT THICKENS!

If they can do half the stuff that they are intending to do and they put back in the ORIGINAL EQ1 ERUDITES then I will be there with bells on. But they put in that grey skinned trash I am gone.
Oh and this, good lord this MUST be there, the BEST themesong in mmo history! |

I have a feeling the game will be largely finished before we ever get to see it, similar to Planetside 2.

Originally posted by ice-vortex does seem to be their choice to do it this way, they did the same for DCUO, get the game largely finished have a shortish beta and release the game 90ish% ready for launch, depending on how knitpicking the individual person is. so when they plan to have a demo ready for next years fan faire, I almost expect to have the game released early 2014, or late 2013 |

I agree, a largely finished game with an open and involved beta. Smed and co's conduct during the PS2 beta is suprisng to say the least, and encouraging.

With the comment about being able to destroy the world down pretty far I wonder what gathering and crafting will look like. Terraforming for materials would be fantastic and to be honest if the crafting process was similar to EQ2 that would better than one click. More like VG would be better though lol
Dear developers, In my humble and inexperienced opinion if I can get through all the content you spent the last 5+ years working on within 6 months you have not done your work justice. Please give me, and everyone else, some tools to create our own content from what you have made so I can stay in your world and appreciate it longer than three weeks before I say "meh". It's a shame and I'd rather not do that to something you put so much of yourself in to. |

If gathering is like Minecraft I would seriously geek out... Or just stare at my screen for a while in shock.

imagine being a miner and your digging one day and you find a treasure chest! or alternately you "dig too deep" and unleash something horribly evil onto the land. it could happen.

Hey, Tremors! You know what, way back then, Leslie Halliwell's film guide wrote this would probably go on to be a cult movie. It was not known at all, then, but it was plain relentless fun. I remember reading that and thinking, "You know what, they're probably right on that, they're probably right..." Also, notice Kevin Bacon setting himself up neatly for some solid six-degreeing there. :P

Hopefully we get some screens or a video or something soon. Stop talking about it and give us something tangible :(
Also I have no doubt in my mind that Project Titan will be unveiled next year, it'll be WoW vs Everquest 2 all over again (except now we get a sandbox weeeeeee!) |
