because for a just launched game it offers more content than any other themepark MMO i have ever played at launch in a very long time when considering how many story lines you have and how the level scaling works... i just started back into sPvP and forgot about mystic forge crafting in the mists lol.. got so much to do still and not even 40% map completion at over 200 hours.... haven't even seen just the story modes in half the dungeons yet... Tons of unique content out there it's just whether or not you find what's their enjoyable or not.. for me I actually like the story and plan to play at least 1 of each race to 80 this alone will take me many many months, not to mention PVP is what I generally enjoy most in these games and I only just started getting into theory crafting builds as i did for months and months in Rift. Plus all the extra you can go for like jumping puzzles, map completion, legendaries, cultural sets, dungeon sets, PVP sets,... there is a lot to do.. oh and forgot that little thing called WvW as well.. you guys act like this is it and nothing will get added.. for a just released MMO it far and away has enough content for a themepark

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Simple scenario, I join wow get to max level and decide I would like to go straight to heroic raids, I don't want to bother with heroic instances or work ink on any other gear - cant be done, you will be told you MUST go grind a certain level of gear.

In gw2 I want to do explore mode or pvp or spvp - I can just jump straight in.

rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (10000 hrs on main mage)> oblivion > LOTR (600 runemaster/Hunter) > Rift (230 hours mage) > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR

TBH I went through the content in GW2 faster than any other themepark I had played previously. I don't really consider skins as content. Which is what the legendaries and cultural sets are. Thats like arguing that the skins in any cash shop are content.

WvW could have been great content. There are a few problems though. People on losing servers are transfering to the winning servers. Which means queue times won't improve for the servers that are winning.

the server transfer thing needs to be fixed not sure why free transfers are still in and hopefully they will change that very soon.. forget the legendaries, armor skins and all that.. Lay out all the features and content of any themepark released in the last lets say 5 years put it side by side at launch with GW2 i can't think of one with as much to do as GW2 does at launch. The size and scope of this game is pretty amazing just think about Rift for comparison.. take a stroll around Sanctum or Meridian... the size of some of the larger random towns in GW2 are larger than those entire cities.  For just just released game I really can't see how anyone can complain about lack of content.. perhaps lack of content they feel interesting or willing to do but not lack of actual content.

You see Hraids =/= Explorable dungeons. You mixing apples and oranges. Explorable dungeons are = heroic dungeons. You can hit level cap and do heroic dungeons.

After those heroic dungeons in other games you can then go do raid content for raid gear, if you choose, or you can stop and not work on raid gear.

In GW2 after explorable dungeons, you do more explorible dungeons for legendaries, if you choose, or stop and not work on legendaries.

Legendaires took the place of raid gear and raid content.

This may, MAY be due to GW2 being B2P. There is far less on going cost in a few artist drawing lengendaries than keeping a team of artist, plus animators, story writters, world designers etc. making raids.

Lol... last sentence is such a joke. Because GW2 doesn't have that working on new dungeons, fixing up dungeons, creating more DEs, exc. sorry, not buying that claim. Good try thou.

Last sentence is not a joke... I think it's fairly easy to assume it as true.

My second to last sentence could be a joke, well it could be not true, thus the "may, MAY".  I said this because people have stated the reason for not having things like phone support and restore systems is due to GW2 being b2p. They said that it would cost too much to have a phone in customer support team. The sentence could be spot on for all we know though.

*shrug* I can't really say it's fact or not. Saying that just becuase their only real complete end game goal is legendaries, doesn't mean that they can't produce content and use the same amount of artists, animators, story designers, and world designers on other aspects of the game just because they don't have raids. In fact, I feel like raids is by far the easiest of the latter to make as opposed to new zones, new DEs, their dungeons with 4 technical paths (including story)... I mean whose to say, but working on a tier loot, that honestly really never changes much each tier, bosses that could be recycled along with the instance, bosses that generally follow the lore of the game already so story writers don't have to do much, and the rest, it's not entirely out of the ball park to say that either takes more than the other to do, since we don't know how much production either puts into their game in those aspects.

Fair enough.

They want to have guesting up and working flawlessly before they disable free transfers.

Hehe yeah, Ebonhawke is bigger than any Rift town... :)

With GW1, they released 4 expansions each containing 2 new classes and up to 150 new skills and new areas. Anet advertised that they were HIRING and recently announced that they have dedicated teams for certain departments of the game. Pretty clear they'll be adding new stuff to the game soon.

Rift has towns? According to the Rift lore as far as I remember the whole human nation are refugees. One side basically has a camp around a temple like building and the other is a stationed in and outside a keep.

Unless they are added after I left, Rift has no towns.

Hehe yeah, Ebonhawke is bigger than any Rift town... :)

Rift has towns? According to the Rift lore as far as I remember the whole human nation are refugees. One side basically has a camp around a temple like building and the other is a stationed in and outside a keep.

Unless they are added after I left, Rift has no towns.

same with humans in GW2 and look at Divinity's Reach...

Gaming should be about fun, not gender equality.

What people want is things to do but no grind. It can't be easier to understand. But, you know, people bitch about people bitching.

Your error is that you don't need to repeat things over and over in order to have things to do. This is why so many people are asking for a proper AAA sandbox to play.

Exactly. Things to do at end-game which is fun and interesting... how hard is that? Obviously very hard because almost no ThemePark can do it...

plenty of themeparks do it.. just nothing that interests you apparently... forgot that on these forums if it's something that doesn't interest certain individuals it doesn't exist...

Divinity Reach is the human capital city of a thriving but last standing human nation. Not the same imo.

I'm not trying to excuse Rift for having no proper cities, but lore wise, the closest to the Defiant keep would be Fort Trinity. I can't think an equivalent for Guardians. Maybe the Order of Whisper base, if it wasn't undeground/ submerged.

Obviously I speak for myself, or did you expect me to speak universally for every gamer out there?

I think you forgot that on forums people talk about their opinions and not universal facts. Not even professional reviewers can do that.

Are you inferring that sandbox games to provide a bunch of end-game "things which is fun and interesting"?  A game providing things to do sounds like the domain of the themepark.  If a sandbox provides a bunch of fun rides at end game I would think that's not as much sandboxy as it is themparky.
