http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/178844/World_of_Warcraft_gains_1M_subs_following_Pandaria_release.php#.UG23ElFnR8E Back to 10M subs. MOP sold 2.7M in first week .. not diablo 3 numbers .. not record breaking but a success nevertheless. So much for the theory that panda won't sell.

Isn't this the same thing that's happened every expansion? Between expansions the subs drop, then right after an expansion hits, the subs jump again. It's just how WoW "rolls". Join the League For Gamers. |

Shocking, it went back up because of an expansion, still, these numbers just prove Warcraft isn't what it used to be, Cataclysm sold 3.3million on it's first day, Pandaria isn't even there after a week.

10 million my arse. If Blizzard really had a pair they would announce how many subs they have for NA and EU. You know, the people that really pay $15 a month not the 3 cents per hour in China. Whatever makes Blizz feel good about themselves I suppose. |

for a 8+ years old game for a game that was so much trolled in every forum for a game that killed by RIFT / SWTORT / GW2<---no sub game for a game that Pandas was a destruction 2.7m copies in the first week, was at least VERY VERY good deal by Blizz and imo MoP rocks. after so much time, i play a wow exp not because its better than other mmo's in the market, but because its better than any other previous exp released by Blizz. If 2.7 million are sold where is the other 7. 3 million comming from? I would suggest woq actually has 4 million regular subs and the rest in Asia etc. that would also correlate with the server population. Blizzard have been at it with the numbers for a while.

Mop is my favorite wow expansion. Not sure how the end game will be but I assume it will be great. Best expansion and totally suprising. "Don't tell me what to do! , you're not my mod" Saying invented by me. |

Originally posted by papardelios Eh, you have to wonder honestly, I saw the ads on every site and every t.v station all the time, seemingly more than cataclysm ads back in the day and yet Cataclysm sold 3.3m first day(breaking Lich Kings previous record for copies sold first day), Pandas is at 2.7m in a week, Blizzard is probably not too happy with that to be honest. |

Aside from this forum, the expansion is getting rave reviews from the actual active community. It's pretty good so far to me, I'd say if your on the fence, to give it a try rather than letting some "review" make up your mind.

Incidently if wow had say 400 servers and the max concurrent population is roughly 10k and wow expand contract their servers to meet demand then that ain't 10 million players.

To be fair to blizzard it does look as if they have addressed some gameplay issues and went back to some of their better roots.

Originally posted by Pivotelite Positively. Metacritic is one source, with 0 accountability. You think that people from this board haven't gone there and wrote flame reviews? Half of the "accountable" reviews there people said they played for an hour or two, as if that is going to show you the whole game. It's a joke, check out WoW community sites to get the scoop on what the PLAYERS think of the game. Yes that is a bias way to get your info, since they already like wow, but at the same time people throw their emotions all over the internet, and on these community pages, active players are showing positive remarks. |

Originally posted by laserit I believe there are actually more people in the world that don't play wow, then people who do play wow. And when you throw a majority who hasn't given it an honest try this is what you end up with. The same answers are "It hasn't been the same since wrath" blah blah blah. Yes I agree with the setiment, but that is not a fair way to rate an expansion. Your rating the expansion on emotions not content. |

And all they had to do was to rush for the permission and release of the expansion in China, just a week after the global release date, instead of the usual ~6 months of more. Now everything is fine and dandy again even thoug sales and user activity are significantly weaker than previous expansions.
PS: Nope they didnt say the subscriber where from before the Chinese MOP release. Only refered to sales in that matter.
