Then after launch, after the honeymoon period ends, it becomes a problem with you not the game, that your not enjoying it.  "You sound like your just burned out on mmorpgs in general" "your just not playing the game right" "you cant play this game like wow you noob" ect

I didn't follow GW2 at all before launch, but I went and got it as did most of my guild because of the pvp system, I didn't get it to grind for gear or to pve all day. So far I'm very satisfied and am still having fun, it is a much much much much better game than SWTOR and most other MMO's out right now.

And I have to agree with the quotes you said, some people ARE playing GW2 wrong, I have a guildmate that cares far too much about gear and is always broke (he spent 10 points into all the traits and haven't even trained the 2nd and 3rd tier traits yet because he has no gold to buy the books!) and I keep telling him he's doing it wrong.

Really...... I would have actually never expected that kind of response to someones post from you. Makes me a little sad.

heh well it was late and I had, had a few but the overwhelming negativity on these forums is getting ridiculous. I don't mind people hating or having issues with the game but it's more or less the same people who move from themepark to themepark bitch about it being a themepark and move on to the next one.  Can't have a single discussion on these forums without 10 people jumping in hating on it.. look at the article just posted about leveling and look at the very first comment. Forum coduct says trolling is repetiviely posting negative comments about any game.. yet they continue to do it day after day after day.. forums are no longer about discussions or helping others it's about bashing and nothing more it seems.. I can't even post a nice picture thread without getting comments about how the game sucks.

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Exploration consisting of running towards a spot marked on map. Innovation? No this is actually a step backwards by 10 years.

Indeed, it's not pro-social, the game system is anti-social. No mob tagging means you don't even need to talk to other people and form a group with them, so you wouldnt need to wait 5 minutes for a respawn. Everything is automated, other players are pretty much like bots to you.

Smart move by Anet to not ask subscription for GW2. They knew, noone would pay for this crap 15$ per month after the first free 30 days, and the positive advertistment would bring the initial sales up.

Umm, Guild Wars 2 was never going to have a monthly sub, just like GW1 never had monthly subs.

You played 5 hours and quit? No wonder you think everything is marked on the mini map, newsflash not everything is marked and the unmark places have good rewards.

Sorry you dislike the game but stop making nonsense statements about a game you have no idea about.   This game is the first game since EQ1 that has given me the feeling of being part of a world, not some semi god roaming around the world like Rift, WOW and other games.

I actually still like MMORPGs

Very social to me, I talk to random people all the time and even make some friends. I also form groups with my guild mates to do Radom events and hearts nice part being the level scaling means I can group with anyone.

Completely understandable :)

Couldn't agree more with what you said above. The MMORPG.com forums are almost painfull to read anymore because of the constant negativity, trolling and arguing between fans of one game or another. I will still keep coming here as I have for years but it gets more and more depressing.

Seems like the thing to do at 80 is stack as much AoE DPS as your class allows and camp dynamic events during which everything that spawns pretty much instantly dies and you hope you did enough damage to get credit for loot.

Try any type of support role in PvE and in WvW and you get severely shortchanged on drops.

Well first, I agree with the OP that this game offers very little reason for social interaction with other players. Thing is, this is not a GW2 speciffic issue. I felt no reason to group with others players in Rift, SWTOR, or even Wow the last time I plyed which was a month prior to Cataclysm releasing. This is just where the genre has been heading for the past few years so its not suprising for GW2 to be the same.

Also after finally trying a few dungeons I have to say I feel a large percentage of people who complain they suck becuase the game doesn't use the trinity system (or at least they'd be better if the game did) are people who are either unable or unwilling to adapt to the different play style needed in GW2. That said I personally don't find GW2s way of dungeon running to be any less tedious or annoying than the Wow model (and in some ways more as I really do feel my character hops about like a spastic with ants in his pants), but since dungeon running has always been my least favorite activity in themepark games I would most likely not like them no matter how they were presented.

Ok all that said on to the poster I'm quoting. Aerowyn, do you think maybe the reason you are getting so upset about negetive comments is because you seem to think you need to read and respond to damn near every one of them? Do you think it might have something to do with your burning need to come riding in on your fiery white steed to do battle every time someone farts in the GW2 forums? I'm glad you like the game and love how you are a continual font of information reguarding it, but FFS the game isn't going to curl up and die if you aren't there to defend it every time someone posts something mean-spirited about it. If people posting comments you do not agree with annoy you so much that its making you unhappy, I recommend just putting them on ignore and going on with your life.

And also personally I do not see people posting their opinons on what they don't like about the game or what they feel could make it better to be trolling, provided they are actual opinons, and not just repeated comments of "This game sucks" without using any explination of why they came to such conclusion.

same could be said about anyone who posts anything here... MOSTLY i post at work and my work right now is somewhat boring but being in the military it changes every few years so no big deal. Saying that like I said before I started posting in these forums to discuss games I enjoy share information and pictures but every game turns into a cesspool of hate every single time it's really sad.. the thing that gets me is the complaints on this game are so lopsided it's crazy.. one day the complaint is there's no gear progression next the grind for gear is to much.. one day it's how easy the game is next it's how hard everything is... one day it's a complaint on how differn't things are the next it's about how things aren't differn't enough..

Then you have a core group of posters who feel the need ot bash the game no matter what and the worst is spreading false information because they are either on an agenda or don't even play the game.. For example a poster complains the games mobs have no abilities like players and can't stun or do cone attacks then you show them several videos of low level mobs doing just that and what's the response? it's all semantics.. then the same poster posts gear is not varied enough and someone posts a link showing numerous sets of gear you can get as leveling up which is actually much more varied than many MMOs release with at launch and no response.. yet these people continue to make these posts day in and day out.. again complain bitch do whatever about a game and move on but to continue to do it day after day just doesn't make any sense to me and from reading the forums posting rules it lies in the trolling catagory.

Also most are on ignore but people keep quoteing them so I see the posts either way..lol:)

oh also their are PLENTY of threads I don't respond to.. i'd say i respond to not even a quarter of them

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. I hate playing solo even if I can play solo and given this game is all about soloing most people don't want to group and a lot of players are not doing dungeons becuase they find it to hard without roles in the party.

I think you completely misunderstood my post.  My post was lamenting the fact that they got rid of the trinity and by doing so got rid of grouping and socializing.

I agree completely that this game proves that, at least at this point, you need the trinity to group and you need the group to socialize.

Lath

No; players just need to be semi intelligent to be social.  From my time in other games a lot of the forced grouping just makes people who should have probably shut up from the start begin flapping their gums (or fingers, but you get the idea).

yup reminded us why it's not needed to have fun and enjoy multiple ways to play a single class:)

In fairness, I have enjoyed multiple ways to play many classes in many MMOs prior to GW2.  Anet hardly created that notion, and seems a lot of people forget about the fact that you can play many classes in many games in different ways.

I like GW2 a lot, but the lack of trinity I do not really see as a good thing, personally. My wife and I play together, which is cool, but aside from dungeons, we have never needed to associate with anyone, really. We *can* associate, sure, but the overall game dynamic does not lend itself to needing to socialize, which imo, yields a lot less interaction.

But then GW2 is hardly the first MMO to lack a lot of required social interaction, that seems to be the way they all are these days.

I'm glad holy trinity is gone.

It sucks when you play a class you enjoy in other MMOs, sadly that class is not wanted in dungeons/raids for several reasons or so many play that class it's almost impossible to run some dungeons/raids.

So you have 3 options either skip the dungeons/raids alltogether or join a guild so they babysit you thrue the dungeons/raids or reroll.

THANK GOD TRINITY IS DEAD IN THIS GAME.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

It took me 5 hours at the release to request a refund and not touch this crap again. Camera movement and control and smoothing was unbearable. Dynamic Events are ripped off Dynamic Battlefields from Tabula Rasa (2007 - not Warhammer, which was later), without the actual consequences.

Request a refund, wow Caveat emptor does't apply to you then? Did you not read or watch anything on the game?

Bless.

I think it's funny how common posts like the OP are here because they are just so BLATANTLY wrong.

My social problem in GW2 isn't that I can't find a guild or everyone is unsocial, no...my issue is that I have TOO MANY GUILDS.  I've joined like three guilds because of people I know IRL, over the net, or folks I met in game.  And I feel like I don't really have enough time to represent all of them and socialize/game with all the folks in each guild.  So it just baffles me when people say this game is unsocial.

Also...let me explain something about the trinity to you guys.

The trinity is very simple.  All it means is that a SINGLE group tactic (tank and spank) should be used to solve the vast, vast majority of obstacles the game throws at you.  So in a trinity system, people are actually NOT required to talk to each other because there is no need.  Everyone already knows their role and what is expected.  And in fact, people not talking and speed-running is one of the major complaints of WoW's dungeon finder.  Hmmm.....I wonder why?

With GW2's NON-trinity system, you cannot apply the same tactic to every situation.  So you actually have to THINK about what tactics you should employ as a group in each encounter and work together.  And if you don't, you will be in trouble.

The folks that complain that the no-trinity system causes asocial behavior and no one ever talks, are probably the same people whining that dungeons are "too hard" and that they just consist of spawn-zerging a mob over and over until it dies.

Maybe, just maybe, they seem too hard because you never bothered to come up with a coordinated plan with your group, you know...TALK with them.  Just saying.

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

It’s really a bummer cause I like the game and the pace of combat.  However, I have 8 toons, one of each class and, most of them post 40, and I have never talked to anyone in the game.  I don’t even really remember any person’s name that I have seen or grouped with for dungeons.   Its like im playing a single player game with some goofy AI named "deesnutz" and "drizzt" who will occasionally join me for a veteran or champion kill.

Summed up the biggest, most universal problem with the game.

Man, the amount of effort it sounds like he's putting into it is remarkable. Yep game's fault not his. Moving on.

Have you guys tried to join a guild?  Tried to do a dungeon?  Tried to do WvW or SPvP?

The game lets you solo if you want to, and it lets you group if you want to.  You seem to be choosing just to solo the entire time and then complaining that there is no grouping or socialization...irony?

Nice assumptions there bud. The game doesn't encourage grouping or socializing, so people don't do either. I shouldn't have to join a guild to find a group, I haven't had to do that in any properly designed MMO.

I've gone around in every zone trying to talk to people in local and after 2 weeks, only got ONE response, it was a "ty' after rezzing someone. That's it. No on wanted to group, no one talked. It felt like I was playing with bots. I'm talking about the main game, not RvR.

Going to give you the same response since you basically posted the same post. There's no concequence to grouping. So the only reason you don't do it is your own fault, not the games. Loot isn't shared. So what do you have to lose to make a group?
