Uhh, yes. It's called good customer support. If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win. |

Originally posted by Deivos probably the biggest thing.. some people acting like they just got robbed for all their money or something. Yes it sucks but it's part of MMOs it happens and you move on.. if it's really a game stopper for you to have this happen every now and then I'd say you really should maybe re-evaluate why you are even playing to begin with. I originally start posting on forums to share pictures, discuss builds, talk about games I enjoy.. but seems they all turn into this love/hate fight back and forth non-stop... oh well what can you do. I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. To summarize... "GW2 Sucks" ... "GW2 Rocks!" ... "NO IT DOESN'T!" ... "YES IT DOES!"
Now back to the rollback... I experienced a 30-45 minute rollback after the log-in server outage last night. Was this worse in other servers or was the OP's experience unique? |

Originally posted by Deivos Umm ok my OP was not a complaint. More like 'This happened to anyone else'. People who dlsike to hear anything negative about GW2 often try to underplay these so called 'negative opinions' by making back handed clever insults. Yes it is not a big deal for you... well good for you..why are you here then? (by you i don't mean you). Stop patronizing people, we are not kids who need schooling in obvious. (again not talking about you). When i realised my progress has been rolled back, first thing i did was check official forums. There was nothing there. So i came here to see if it is me getting screwed or someone else in same boat as me. It is only because of these forums that i got to know ANET made annoucement regarding it on Twitter..imagine that. As more and more people begin to log in game to realise there has been a roll back. They started posting on official forums. I even posted links. Naturaly, they got flamed by the fans and topics got locked. So yep..official forums are not all that. Even Anet doesn't give much preference to their own official forums. They would rather make annoucements on twitter. And people like me keep fumbling on official forums looking for some information.

I was playing then they toiok the server down for maintenance and when I logged in the next day it felt like there was a five minute roll back. I was only missing a few points of interest so it was nothing major but I can see how it can be frustrating.

Originally posted by halflife25 Don't think I was specifically addressing your OP with that post. My first one was aimed more at you than the one you quoted was, but let's have a go at this.
Ignoring the part you say are not for me, First sentence I have no qualms with. My response to your issue is just general speculation ofn the architecture of the game and condolances for your time lost.
In the case of hearing things from Anet through others here, that would be due to your preferences in tracking media. It seems you are not big on checking the media sources Anet has outside the forums, namely their facebook, twitter, and wiki. Otherwise one might have been faster to find the information from those sources where they get originally posted.
That's perfectly fine, just a matter of preference. But that is also, to note, the reason one might not find the information they are always looking for. Anet keeps their patch information on their wiki and make most short term status updates via twitter. If one does not think to check those sources (I know I never do) then one is not likely to know.
And yeah, the moment any thread on a forum degrades into ranting one way or the other (hard to think it's only ever one side at fault) it really needs to get closed or locked. Can't really hold Anet at fault for doing so on their own forum.
EDIT: To get the point out more clearly. It's fine to ask about a problem. It's fine to say one has a problem. It's fine to talk about a problem.
It's not fine to grab a pitchfork over a problem.
This isn't a problem with the OP, it's a problem with what has generally ensued. And not really from you either, more from some visitors to your post. Though some seem to be getting edited by a/the mods now. As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero. - Vaarsuvius |

As long as players don't vote with their wallets.... these developers continue on with these kind of practices! Nothing will change. |

I will say though that something like this happening and no info after 14 hours (edited from 24 because i can't fucking count) except "sorry you're out of luck" is a bit annoying. Could be though they aren't quite sure what caused the issue yet.

As I said before, it's seems one of the more likely cases that with the loss of data they don't currently have a catch for anything. The server doesn't doesn't dump it's data into a log when it crashes or anything from the sound of it so they don't ahve any snapshots of the game's state when it crashes. As a result there's no presnt means to account for lost information aside from what people claim they have lost and lets be honest. People aren't always honest.
