Do the hearts... A lot of the time there are DE's overlapping the hearts so you do both at the same time.. And always stick around when you finish a DE, it might take 10-20 seconds before the next step starts.
Use the hearts as pointers and do DE's as priority, use scouts to get hearts marked on map in undiscovered areas. Once you're 90%+ on a map, tele to heart of mist, use portal to Lions Arch, in Lions arch there's asura gates to other races starter zones, do these and you won't have problems with being too low lvl. Look at the world map, there's plenty of zones to lvl in for all lvls.
And last, when you explore the edges of the zone you're in, and find a portal to the zone that's next to it, go through it, just to get the waypoint on the other side, so that once you're correct lvl for that zone, you can use the waypoint, instead of running. |

Lol, whatever guy, people who create will always think they have created something great, creators don't make games and say, "yes, its a piece of crap, play it" THEY USUALLY BELIEVE IN THEIR PRODUCT!!! |

If you think the map shows everything in the game then you arent the explorer you think you are.
Hearts annoy the crap out of you because you want to be told why you are doing things. Have you tried talking to the actual heart NPCs because they tell you the story and whats going on. There are plenty of DEs that don't have a story. Do you have a problem with those?

However, what it presents are mechanics that are by no means common in the genre. We’ll stop to sleep when the game is the best possible game we think it can be. We’ve seen the population of the game steadily rising lately and we’re not going to sit on our butts and congratulate one another, we’re going to try and build on that momentum and make the game even better. -Colin johanson on GW2 |

Originally posted by Vorch Most obvious one that comes to mind is CoX... But that was side-kicking up, only. And didn't put you at an even level, it left you X levels lower than your mentor. And was only when you were actively with them... Etc. No game that I know of has had a similar implementation to GW2.

Originally posted by Vorch I think how you level is quite different that what you would expect from a Themepark. You will still need to quest, and they will be the same destroy, deliver, defend, drops and discover that are in every game. The fact that you can go any direction you want and run into DE's that are not auto-starting (huge over-simplification) is quite different then the quest hub based game. |

Originally posted by Zekiah You aren't an explorer. You are just after carrots like most people. true explorers dont need "phat lootz" incentives to explore. They explore because they want to unlock lore, mysteries and surprises in the environment which other mmo's don't offer to the extend guild wars does. explorers want to find the hidden passage to the underground temple or the route to the castle in the sky that none of the other players have been to (see picture from other poster). these things are all worth more to a true explorer than a petty gold armor piece that you can get by an hour or so of grinding couple. You my friend, are not an explorer, so don't talk about guild wars not being rewarding to explorers if you dont know anything. |

You really don't need to attempt all the content to level at a decent pace and be geared. You only need to regularly participate in about 50% of the types of activities.
You also really don't need to actively do hearts to complete many hearts, many you do need to.
If you are going for zone completion you will be grinding some hearts and for "exploration" this is VERY good item rewards. But I would not really call zone completion exploration due to the need to grind hearts. I use grind loosely here.
Personally I do not go for zone completion as I do not want to do all the hearts. But simply getting every single vista, POI, Skillpoint and waypoint in all the zones is ALOT of xp. I would bet its 20 levels easy. However I will do hearts. Some I think are kind of fun. I like throwing water on drunk people and giving customers meat on a stick, but only the females .... Hearts are good in the 25+ level for equipment. If you aren't doing hearts you will need to get equipment by other means.
The people saying do all the content are not correct. The easiest way to level fast and have good equipment is to do a mix of Story, stratgeic hearts, gathering, crafting, exploring and as many DE's has you can come across. But just roaming around in a fairly random but smart manner will give you easily enough to level at a decent pace.
You do not ever need to do your story. You don't need to WvW. But both of those things can help. Story is quite good xp and gives some decent equipment. WvW tends to give rather good karma. If you restircit yourself to mostly exploring you will have some trouble. You need to do about 50% of the list I said above (also dungeons are a possibility). Doing them all is not necessary although various activities do have particular rewards and you do yourself a disservice if you completely refuse to do them.
As for people who say everuthing is marked for exploration or there are no rewards for exploration: you have no idea what you are talking about.
If you think you do know what you are talking about and maintain that exploration gives no good gear then answer me this question: How many lootable exploration based chests exist in lion's arch and what level loot do they give? |

The reason people are coming off as how you put "crass" is because it sounds a little pathetic when something is presented to you as new and yet you over exaggerat its comparison to everything else. Seriously sounds like games are not for you period and you are just trying to force them on yourself yet refuse to allow yourself to enjoy them for what they are individually without mass blanket over exaggeration comparisons. I personally consider myself burned out from MMORPG's and hadn't played one seriously for over a year after I left RIFT. I only tested out TERA, Swtor, TSW just to clarify my discust with the gaming industry. I was talked into testing out GW2 and to my surprise the repackaged, recycled stuff as you put it was incredibly refreshing. This may be my last MMORPG but I'm sure as hell glad I didn't pass on it, its actually been the most fun I've ever had in an MMORPG in over a decade. I alow myself to enjoy the magic instead of screaming at it like an old guy on my lawn shaking his cane... GET OFF MY LAWN YOUNG WHIPPER SNAPPERS, You aint foolin me!!!! You AINT FOOLIN ME!!!!!!! baaaah humbug!!

on the map you can see staff which you can do only once (f.e. hearts).
there are hidden jumping puzzles, and you can understand them only through explorer achievments (or if you are paying attention on some vistas ^^ ) also there are a hell of dynamic events hidden which leads to awesome fights ... so yes you are missing a lot, i am only 47lvl and still havent finished the 15-25lvl area ... and done only 3 starting areas and 2 main cities (black citadel and Lions Arch.. )
