No idea about engines or whatnot, but I (and anyone I've had over to check the game out) love the way it looks and I'm constantly awed by my surroundings. Compare to recent other game with "revolutionary engine and highest possible end graphics" which I could not even stomach cause it looked horrendous to me. Graphics to me = what it looks like when I look at it, not what's behind it. /shrug

The first dungeon is for level 30+.  Seriously?  No wonder they didn't put a group finder in.  Alot of players will quit before they get that far.

   GW2 isn't the game for you plain and simple, there are no mounts because they want people to buy speed boosts and its not even necessary, if they add mounts in the game they ruin the plan of making money from speed boosts, No housing? This game isn't made for housing buddy. This game is completely different then any other mmo you would expect that coming into the game? Guild Wars 2 uses a heavily modified Guild Wars game engine which includes support for true 3D environments, more detailed environments and models, better lighting and shadows, new animation and effects systems, plus new audio and cinematics engines and a more flexible combat and skill-casting system.

Gaile Gray has indicated the game will support DirectX 10, but not require it to play. If you think that 40 fps standing still even without the max options on one of the best graphics cards out there is great than all power to you. But in reallty it isn't. I have around 100 fps in TSW on max graphics, DX11 and TXAA, and that's not the most optimized engine either. It may look pretty and shiny, but that is not due to the engine but the cartoon style.

They said it would support DX10, but in it's current incarnation it doesn't.

You should look at your drivers or even your system a little more closely. I run the same GTX 670 and my fps is higher.  edit: I removed the other photo so you could also possibly use the settings I have and it may help your fps. :)

I went out of my way to upgrade drivers to latest beta drivers, even tried to force win7 not to shut down cpu cores etc but to no avail. When other games run stellar on the system I don't think the problem is on my end. And I can get 100+ fps in GW2 as well but then I have to lower the graphics options and resolution which I shouldn't have to on this system.

I agree with you totally. If people that love WoW and Rift type games would just take there thought process by the edges, and shake it like an etch o sketch they would have a fresh perspective.

Why on earth do you need a mount?  With the Portals and Waypoints it's faster than using any mount.  Actually, when you hit level 2 you can just enter the PvP lobby and you can access Lion's Arch from there at Portal to where you like.  I use it to level up in different newbie zones.

Housing?  Never been interested in it in any mmo, so that doesn't interest me.

Tradeskill is no worse than any other game, and a lot better than in quite a few.

The weapon/spell skill system is interesting.  It's the Traits and weapon combos that I really like, tailoringy yourself to several roles - it's flexible, it's fun and it's not a cookie-cutter faceroll system.  It's a lot cleverer than you give it credit for.  I will say that the weapon skill unlocks don't seem to make much sense - it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to unlock them all, and that amount of time is so short I don't know why they bothered with it.  That's just a trivial niggle though.

Unlike you, I think there are a lot of features, and the game pleases me as much as Eve Onine, albeit in two very different ways.

Lol, i love how everyone thinks the people who game want a game like 'wow" You do know that wow stole ideas from many other games and put them into one, Wow didn't invent most of the stuff that went into the game. So stop referring to all games are "wow clones" When infact 99.95% of them arent. Some of them try to, such as 4story and runes of magic. But they only used the "Wow clone" genre as a base and worked further to improve their own unique game. I personally don't like Guild wars 2 and after reading so many posts to see what people are saying about it. It made me go further away from ever trying this game. To me, the graphics arent "All that" I've played many games with better graphics. I don't like how the skill system seems to work (Although, i do admit it seems quite interesting to see what happens with it later down the line.) Nothing in this game really appeals to me. But those are just my 2cents on this whole thing. 

But for the op to make a post like this is just frustrating for the GW2 fanboys out there that are over hyping this game. I don't know what the game is like. But to type that he done without experiencing 90% of the game while playing seems kind of stupid to me. 

(Remember, what i said about gw2 is just my personal opinion. I just don't like the concept of the game, As it doesn't appeal to me. But it may do later when i get back into mmorpgs)

That is exactly what I said, people shouldn't think about WoW when it comes to gaming. I never said they want a game like it. I said they should think fresh and different.

I had to play a pretty frickin long time just to get into a dungeon with a group of players.  In a MMORPG.  Somethings very wrong with that.  And its something I don't remember seeing mentioned in any of the previews I watched and read before buying GW2.

You'd think somebody, between all you beta testers out there, would have made a little more noise about that ahead of time.  I seriously did not expect to find a design hole big enough to fly a 747 through in such a hyped game.

Took me no longer that 5 min to put together a group for the first dungeon. Where did you spam to find a group? the starting zone? lol. I see people post about groups for instances constantly.

OMG no mounts. I have to go walk and experience things while I go get waypoints to fast travel instead of afk with num lock down as I fly over everything. WAHHHHH.

No housing? I want sims in my game. They promised me this at a later time... its later isn't it. Wheres my god damn house?

This game is F2P, what was that 50$ I payed to get into it then?

Specially since a lot of this was covered before the game came out... but clearly you plugged your ears to it and pretended that it was never mentioned. Everything you posted was posted once before, and it was all preference or you just being bad and not figuring out how to do it properly (dungeon finding mostly). As far as the rest, thats your opinion on what needs to be in a game. But I could care less if it is or not.

Really, graphics engine best in the business? Im not really sure how you rate/scale a graphics engine... but Tera looks light years ahead of GW2 graphics.
