The Guild Wars team must have some kind of backwards thinker coming out with the PvP updates. If people remember back in Guild Wars 1, Random arena was the most popular PvP format. It was team deathmatch, but one day after "Hero Arenas" were removed they started putting in capping maps into random arenas. The response was that the capping maps didn't belong/sucked and they were removed. So why are there capping maps in Guild Wars 2 pvp? I agree, capping is lame compared to what straight up team death match. The capping format has problems in that you often find your self alone vs 2 or more people and you're pretty much dead, where as in team death match everyone usually stuck with their team. Bring back random arenas or they should create a separate team death match PvP npc, guess which most people will choose. |

My point is that i like to think i have more personality and im more "in " character in a MMORPG than im in a shooter. BG's in GW2 could just as well (IMO) be a random shooter map. Because its mostly overunning your opponent with adding up on them. Atleast if BG's had been larger, more tactics would come into play and maybe you could get a nice 1vs1 once in a while.

Originally posted by Wolvards Im just pissed of by getting some time off to play GW2 and then end up doing pve and crafting because its weekend and its no chanse in hell i will ever get into www before i need to go to bed. So i log of for some good ol whining at MMORPG .com instead . Honestly, i think MMORPG gaming is over for me, its just not what it used to be. I loved games like Ac1 Darktide, DAoC (dread servers), Shadowbane. But those days are gone. Its mostly nostalgia now. :) |

Originally posted by Mothanos Like i said, i would like to do all that but im stuck in a QUE. Yes ive done WoW pvp, and even BG's in WoW was better than this. But WoW was never my focus. I honestly like FFA pvp better. A pity its not any good FFA games out there right now exept EvE and Darkfall wich i didnt enjoy much at all for different reasons. Ive done alot of Mist pvp experimented with alot of builds and such, it never really changed much or gave me much satisfaction if i was getting stomped or i was doing the stomping. When it comes to you, you just assume to much, but i guess its easier than reading and trying to comprehend whats getting written. |

Originally posted by Grimmx Repeat after me, GW2 pvp is a team based game. There is no guaranteed "1v1" in a game designed and balanced for team play. If all you care about is 1v1 then this is not the game for you. Calling the pvp a joke because it's design doesn't fit you preferred style of gameplay is a bit silly.

I gave that char away a week later to a guildie after killing a paladin 5 times in a row fighting over mining nodes. The fact that he could graveyard spawn and be in my face without any penalty whatsoever over and over made me quit wow for good. PvP servers without death penalty isnt pvp imo. |

GW2 really isn't ultimately about pvp. the pvp aspect of the development was probably the least time consuming and less people working on that task. what did you expect? anyways, remind me whether you pre-purchased, pre-ordered, or were you a walk-in? I stopped playing MMORPGs after quitting WoW a couple months after Wrath released and have been looking for another game to sink my imagination into and this one has delivered the best to date.

yea im not sure how much longer this game will hold my attention. not even 80 yet. its convenient to not have to pickup the quests and all .. but it's still the exact same boring pve grind. it is nice to be able to go to other areas for a while, but for this game to hold my attention they would need to add as many new zones every 3-4 months as they started with. and not all the same textures and models all over again. every zone has all the same mobs with hue/saturation touch ups. and dont transfer off of the good servers. the other servers are just plain horrible for wvw. no one defends anything. its a constant zerg between between briar and lake because everyone is too lazy to run up north to actually attack something. upgrade the keeps? no thanks. im not spending money so the server with the most aussies can just zerg everything down at 4 am, grinding my gold into the ground at the same time. i did this over the weekend. stayed up all night with 2 other friends, havent done much wvw since I had to sit there and watch 40 guys blow up the keep we upgraded because no one else was around to defend it. even worse when this happens at normal times and people are too obsessed with briar/lake to defend the upgraded keep with the orb in it. wvw can be just flat out miserable on the wrong server. LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. |

you were probably one of those guys camping out in the deserted lands or whatever they were called on Runescape just to kill whoever came looking for a dragon or black knights.

My largest gripe so far is that i cant pvp at all because of que's. That said, so far pvp in this game has "for me" been about adding and zerging people. Seriously, in some instances i could just as well had a single key to mash while doing some sort of flat avarage ranged dmg. Would have saved us all alot of time ^^ <<< Sarcastic here Now im of to bed. NN. |

Agree with OP, pvp is a joke and does not fit in mmorpg's.
