I would have cancelled my subscription the first day once i realized there was nothing in the game but heart quests and DE's.  The games system reminds me too much of that last Final fantasy MMO where there were no quests just those stupid guild leves.  There's no content in this game and leveling becomes a chore that requires you to craft just to slightly keep up with he areas your in.  One stupid quest for each level and then a bunch of random walking around.  I don't feel compelled at all to explore because i know i'll run into a bunch of mobs i have to kill that give almost zero experience for killing.  I feel absolutely no desire to go explore that cave over there because what's the point?  The half hour i'll be in there i'll get maybe a bubble of experience and for what?

The game is so light on content it's almost criminal.  I can't beleive this game was in development for this long.  Would it really have been that hard to put a few quests in there just to give you some kind of reason to explore the world other than seeing another cave or another field?

If this game had a subscription, it would be a massive failure.

Honest question. Do you even play this game?

Right, people have been clammoring for a different way to do things, and the first time it happens, those who cried saying "I want a game that doesn't spoon feed me quest" Or "I am tired of quest hubs" turn around like little children.

You can't blow through stuff in this game. If you see some NPC's talking, you have to listen, cause they may be talking about something going on nearby. I saw some people talking about the water didn't look clean, and I had to travel across the zone to see bandits destroying the water tower. I didn't click on someone who said please go save our water tower, nor did I stumble upon it by accident, although I have stumbled into other situations by accident. Thats content. Thats a new way to do questing, and if you don't get it, sorry your dumb.

I try not to be too fanboyish, but seriously, this game did alot of things different. If you have been complaining about wanting something different, and say this is just same old same old, you the kind of person who would complain if somone hung you with a new rope.

I agree that this game does some things different and I give Arena Net props for trying but just like every other developer out there they have forgotton about what made people fall in love with the mmo genre and what made it special.

I disagree, I think they carved out everything that made the game "special" for elitist that only had fun by preventing other people to have fun. By removing the aspects of the game that cause competition between cooperative players, and closing down the walls that prevent access to content, they were able to keep the game challenging and fresh, without allowing the elites to be able to claim "superiority" because only they see and can do the hardest parts of the game.

What makes the MMO genre special is that we can play with people all over the world and make new friends while playing games, that we can just ask in chat how to do something, that we can see other people moving around the game world and go help them. USed too it was so new that we all did because it was something special, then it got to the point that we stopped because it wasn't worth it, we all figured out it was quicker to go it alone. This game brought going and helping each other back. Thats what made me fall in love with MMO's, so no, for me this game capured better than any game ever has about "what made people fall in love with the mmo genre and what made it special."

Have to agree with this comment ...i wont sub to a game again..bought a lifetime for TSW and it was worth it but no more subs after this..if these guys can put a game like this out without a sub then so can the rest.

That does not really make sense to me. If you like Guild Wars 2 then why not pay a sub? I have no problem paying sub fees at all. The problem is that I have not played a game since my old Lineage 2 days thats worthy of a sub. If a game comes out and it is everything that I want in a mmo I will gladly pay a sub for it. The problem is that I am still waiting for that game.

I dont understand your poll really. "No, I do not think the game is good enough to have a sub." I heard Skyrim is widely recognized as super great game, should it have subscription because it's that good? I thought subscription was first introduced to pay for the running fees of a game, not based on how good it is, and today sub is nothing more than extra payment for nothing extra in some games.

I just might check out MoP if it didnt have sub fee. I would have been playing TOR before GW2 was released if it didnt have sub fee, and I would play TSW as my second mmorpg right now if it wouldnt have sub fee. Before GW2 I thought sub fee is fine if the game is "big" enough, but if I can get a game like GW2 without the sub fee, I dont think I'll ever pay a monthly fee for any game, or if I do, it has to be something really mindblowing, and I dont see that coming.

This game is more worthy of a monthly feee than most if not all subscriptions based games released these last years.

But of course, a subscription would involve the removal of the cash shop... ;)

What is "almost criminal" is to spread such misinformation about the game. GW2 has more content at release than many MMOs have years after their release.

Second this. I must say I have come to realize people are dumber than I thought by reading comments such as "GW2 has no content / not enough content for a sub" It has more b((/&% content than any other game released in the past few years... by far. You may not LIKE it but you can't say it isn't there with a straight face.

No, I didnt even buy the game.  I signed up for the beta and wish I had not even done that since I am getting requests to reset my Guild Wars 2/NCSoft password now.  Can I completely close down an NCSoft account?

Send ina ticket to NCsfot support. they will shut it down for you. Or just make anew email id and change it in your Ncsoft account. That way you won't get spam on your main email account.

I wouldn't have bought the game if it had a monthly sub, so the question is moot.

I lost all faith in sub-based games. While it's only natural to think that the more you pay in total, the better game you get in return, in our harsh reality it's not true. The more you pay for a game, the more likely its run by people who care only about bleeding their customers dry.

MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).

I wish it had a sub, then I would have saved myself the cost of a box =/  I fell to the hype and a friends nagging, I only caved because it didn't have a sub.. sigh.

If it had a sub I would never have tried it..

What content? There is not alot of different things to do in the game and there is nonthing to work toward doing at higher level. A dungeon and thats it? No wonder people are level 80 already complaining about nonthing to do.

I wouldn't have bought it if it would have had a monthly fee. Fee + expensive buying price + cash shop = too much.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

I don't see what's so confusing.  "if these guys can put a game like this out without a sub then so can the rest" pretty much says it all.  Do you think that because a game charges a subscription, that it's going to be better?  Why should I pay extra money I don't have to?  At the moment, I haven't even dipped into the GW2 cash shop yet.

"Worthy of a sub" is such a poor statement to make.  If a game is good, it's good, regardless of payment model.  Rift charged a sub and it wasn't worth it to me.  Same with SWTOR and TSW.  I still wouldn't pay a subscription for GW2... not because it's not worth it, but because I don't have to.

It might be because this isn't Rift or WoW where you race to the end of the game to start playing it. These players that are level 80 already are stuck in that mindset and missed the entire premise of the game.

The game is jam packed full of content, some people are just looking for the way they want it to be, not the way it is presented.

Remove the cash shop and I would.

SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever!
