Originally posted by hikaru77 Anet said a long time ago that the hearts are basically hubs to get people into the area to experience the events going on around there. Still dont get why some of you insist that anyone ever said it would be different. Hearts =/= DEs. Also the only people going from heart to heart are people doing it for the 100% map completion. We know they are static and repetitive, and are very similar to questing in other games. hearst arent what people want to play the game for. I take it youre either a) one of the trolls feeding on other trolls for info or b) are still in the starter area and also havent PvPed. Standing still and pressing the 1 button will get you killed... a lot. Stop spreading the lie if youre anything more than a complete troll. People said GW2 doesnt have stats? Cool story if it were even remotely true. Gear / stats didnt really matte rin GW1. Arenanet has stated since the beggining that gear and stats are MORE important in GW2. They just said it is less important than in most other games, allowing lower levels to at least stand a chance in fights rather than getting 1 shot by people in max gear . I'd really love to know where you people get your information from that it is constantly completely ass backwards. |

Developers forgot what made mmos special. Until we get that back the genre wont move forward. |

Most of the people who are defending this game feel the same way the OP does but they just dont want to admit it.

GW2.. Something is missing, I'd say good stories, some cutscenes (omg those dialogue scenes are beyond bad) and less tedious repetetive missions. And freaking puzzles goddammit this was supposed to be a RPG, where are quests you need to use your brain? PvP is a mass zerg fest, basically the same like Secret World has in Fusang, just with bows and arrows instead of assault rifles and a bigger but lower detail map you need to run through endlessly. All in all, I have more fun in TSW. |

The way I see it, the OP is right about the grind. The problem is that the grind lies at the heart of the MMO model. If you didn't have the grind, then the game designers would have a hard time keeping people interested in the game so that there is an interest in accomplishment. In a way, GW2 tries to sidestep that by making it no monthly fee, and that's fine, but to that end they could have made the game a great deal more like the narrative from a single-player game, keeping the action moving and adding more to the story. Think Legend of Zelda. Now think Legend of Zelda MMO with the only difference being that there is PVP and you can play through the story with multiple people. No levels, no grind. Much more similar to Diablo III in terms of a linear story with multiple people experiencing different time frames and different choices. In a few years I predict that we will see just that as the consoles get more and more connected in the game play.

I would love so much for someone to give a good example of an mmo that doesn't get repetitive after a while. It's like the people who complain about this, which has been complained in about every mmo out there so far, have never played another mmo before. Even single player games get repetitve. If that repetition gets "tedious and boring" to you, maybe you should pick another hobby instead of video games.

I have to agree with the OP on this. There's something about the GW2 world that simply feels dull. Sure, it's very pretty in a artificial sort of way. The lighting and the world construction feel very awkward. And there's nothing that feels epic, nothing that feels dangerous and nothing that feels unknown. The single most disappointing thing for me is that you don't have to explore for anything. All the locations just pop up on your map when you enter an area. This really shows how dumbed-down MMOs have become. When you zoom out on the world map GW2 looks like the ultimate expression of the theme-park. Every zone is a little rectangle and they all fit together. It could be designed by Disney - look there's Nornland, hey there's Treeland over there, let's go visit. |

I'm calling GW2 a success and by that I mean A'net will be happy with how it does, but its going to be a number of months before we find out. The things is, to those who say they don't like it. Do they like mmos in general? What is a game they do like. What are they holding up saying, "This is a better mmo." For me even if there was an mmo that was a bit better, if I had to pay a sub, I'd probably stay with GW2. |

Originally posted by Ryowulf FFXI, DAOC, EQ2, Rift, etc etc. I pay a sub for 3 of those, and another is one of my all time faves, I had no problem paying a sub for. I would never pay a sub for GW2, it s just not worth it, IMO. I can guess alot of you wouldn t pay a sub for it either, that had no problem paying a sub for before. |

For me, Guild Wars 2 got tedious and boring . There are alot of things that are interesting and really well done in Guild Wars 2, but the combat system and the class system are only breaking even, and to me, those are the two most important things. It's a good game, but it's not leading any MMORPG revolution, that's for sure.

Why is it that everytime a new hyped big thing is released, people start acting like 10 year olds on a sugar rush?
It's a casual themepark meant as a second MMO when your main MMO gets boring..... why would anyone expect more than that is beyond me. Everything in the game screams "1 hour a week fun", soft grouping, no group roles, "join and pwn a few noobzors" PVP, "endgame starts at lvl 1" (which means no endgame & no goals, it's not like this MMO is a sandbox... it's a themepark... a themepark without endgame.... uhhh yeah im max level, now what? ohhhhh so doing more of the same.... great) "Dogs are the leaders of the planet. If you see two life forms, one of them's making a poop, the other one's carrying it for him, who would you assume is in charge." "The idea behind the tuxedo is the woman's point of view that men are all the same; so we might as well dress them that way. That's why a wedding is like the joining together of a beautiful, glowing bride and some guy" |

Its done so well its gone free to play. I don't dislike Rifts, but I enjoy GW2 more. I subbed to a lot of games back then, including SWG. Even had a sony station pass. Then after being disappoited time and again by these games I woke up and stopped wasting my money. |

I guess i'm one of the few who are thoroughly enjoying the game.
I'm away from home for a couple of days and itching to get back and play some more. Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. |
