I've tried to like this game. Personally the only reason it will succeed is because there's no sub. If there was it would soon end up like SWTOR, Tera and Rift.

The combat system isn't good. Too dam fiddly having to constantly use the right mouse button to turn yourself around. It breaks combat. Just plain annoying. Even the combat for each class gets tedious after awhile. For example firing a rifle being blown backwards is a good novelty but after a dozen or so times its irritating.

Dynamic Events get more and more repetitive.  Am sick to death of escorting quests. Really do we have to escort people at least ten times in every zone? Its designed as a clever timesink to make you feel you progress at a slow pace. Even if its nott escort, its kill a thousand centaurs, bandits, worms. YAWN AND MORE YAWN.

Personal Story- Even more tiresome quests which involved escorting or saving someone. More bandits and centaurs. Great.

Gear- Can buy stuff with karma or pick up off the odd random mob. Most of the karma vendors don't have much and the majority of loot you pick is crafting stuff. Yawn another timesink.

The World- Didn't get a feeling of OMG this is epic.  Where's the decent music scores in this game? Cities are instanced nuff said.

Replayability value- the thought of getting to even level 30, then re-rolling and going through the dynamic event system again makes me feel nauseous. zerg fests of button mashing in every zone is not my idea of fun.

I see your points and agree.  I spent the money for this game to sink time, and not pay a monthly sub.  Other then that, this game is not awsome by any standard unless, you are a f an boy.  The game is good as a time sinnk, and only worth the 60 bucks you paid for it.  Actually, you can get as much, or more from many FTP games, and not sink the bucks into buying the client.

And the reason GW2 content gets so stale and boring so quickly is because it's really not that different from what we've seen in the last 10 years.

The quest mechanics in GW2 are just as repetitive and limited, and therefore become just as tedious, as the quest mechanics in other games.  Add to that how simplistic the game is, and how much it holds the player's hand, and it becomes tedious even more quickly.

pffft obviously you have not palyed the game at all then. If you enjoy quest hub games where the combat means you stand  in one spot and push buttons so you can get to the next quest hub ubtil you get to max level to run the raid of the week repeatedly hoping for a good roll on some gear that becomes outdated when the next big patch releases so you can run the new raid of the month then more poweer to you. I got tired of that rat race somewhere between EQ1 and EQ2. Each to their own though. My self I am loving the no structured game play of GW2.

Got a a feeling their are a lot of pissed off wannabe pandas in this thread

what are you talking about?, u are doing the same thing in GW2 than any other MMO before, ¨the quest hub¨ is there, people is running around the map doing ¨hearts hubs¨ and then move to the next one, Also, in GW2 you stand in one spot and press ¨one¨ button, and at endgame u need to grind ¨karma¨ to buy gear, Thats a grind like any other MMO before, and i remember people talking about ¨GW2 doesnt have stats, u dont need to grind¨, well, that was a lie because all is see is gear with, guess what STATS. So endgame in GW2 is farm karma and do dungeons to buy gear, the same thing that we did the last 10 years of MMMO history. GW2 is exactly like any other MMO before.

Anet said a long time ago that the hearts are basically hubs to get people into the area to experience the events going on around there. Still dont get why some of you insist that anyone ever said it would be different. Hearts =/= DEs. Also the only people going from heart to heart are people doing it for the 100% map completion. We know they are static and repetitive, and are very similar to questing in other games. hearst arent what people want to play the game for.

I take it youre either a) one of the trolls feeding on other trolls for info or b) are still in the starter area and also havent PvPed. Standing still and pressing the 1 button will get you killed... a lot. Stop spreading the lie if youre anything more than a complete troll.

People said GW2 doesnt have stats? Cool story if it were even remotely true. Gear / stats didnt really matte rin GW1. Arenanet has stated since the beggining that gear and stats are MORE important in GW2. They just said it is less important than in most other games, allowing lower levels to at least stand a chance in fights rather than getting 1 shot by people in max gear . I'd really love to know where you people get your information from that it is constantly completely ass backwards.

Developers forgot what made mmos special. Until we get that back the genre wont move forward.

DE are also statics, i mean, every ¨heart hub¨ have a DE around, and is the same event  over and over with a timer.

GW2.. Something is missing, I'd say good stories, some cutscenes (omg those dialogue scenes are beyond bad) and less tedious repetetive missions. And freaking puzzles goddammit this was supposed to be a RPG, where are quests you need to use your brain?

PvP is a mass zerg fest, basically the same like Secret World has in Fusang, just with bows and arrows instead of assault rifles and a bigger but lower detail map you need to run through endlessly.

All in all, I have more fun in TSW.

The way I see it, the OP is right about the grind.  The problem is that the grind lies at the heart of the MMO model.  If you didn't have the grind, then the game designers would have a hard time keeping people interested in the game so that there is an interest in accomplishment.  In a way, GW2 tries to sidestep that by making it no monthly fee, and that's fine, but to that end they could have made the game a great deal more like the narrative from a single-player game, keeping the action moving and adding more to the story.  Think Legend of Zelda.  Now think Legend of Zelda MMO with the only difference being that there is PVP and you can play through the story with multiple people.  No levels, no grind.  Much more similar to Diablo III in terms of a linear story with multiple people experiencing different time frames and different choices.  In a few years I predict that we will see just that as the consoles get more and more connected in the game play.

I would love so much for someone to give a good example of an mmo that doesn't get repetitive after a while.  It's like the people who complain about this, which has been complained in about every mmo out there so far, have never played another mmo before.  Even single player games get repetitve.  If that repetition gets "tedious and boring" to you, maybe you should pick another hobby instead of video games.

What a useless post.  You have nothing to back that up.

True.  Everyone likes to throw around the word "Fail" but a real Fail is something like Tabula Rasa.  You say GW2 is hyped?  I say the failure of GW2 is hyped.

I have to agree with the OP on this.

There's something about the GW2 world that simply feels dull. Sure, it's very pretty in a artificial sort of way. The lighting and the world construction feel very awkward. And there's nothing that feels epic, nothing that feels dangerous and nothing that feels unknown.

The single most disappointing thing for me is that you don't have to explore for anything. All the locations just pop up on your map when you enter an area. This really shows how dumbed-down MMOs have become.

When you zoom out on the world map GW2 looks like the ultimate expression of the theme-park. Every zone is a little rectangle and they all fit together. It could be designed by Disney - look there's Nornland, hey there's Treeland over there, let's go visit.

Totally agree with everything you said. This game is just does not feel like a mmo at all. Combat is probaly the worst part of this game. If you melee just circle the mob and use your skills. If you are ranged just back pedal and fire away. Thats all there is to it.

It sounds like neither of you have played the game, so yes there is reason enough to be critical.  I like how everyone takes a wait and see approach on a buy to play game when they're happy to buy single player titles that can be completed in a week.  It makes no sense, but then again, neither does not thinking for yourself.

LoL, is your faith shaken so easily ?

So a person determines that the new Hyped game isn't for them and you call them out ?

She replies like an adult and you continue ???

Whats next ... do you label her a Heretic ?

GW2 fanaticism is becoming like Scientology,  the next step is to sue people that reveal what a medicore game is behind all the Hype.

I'm calling GW2 a success and by that I mean A'net will be happy with how it does,  but its going to be a number of months before we find out.

The things is, to those who say they don't like it. Do they like mmos in general? What is a game they do like. What are they holding up saying, "This is a better mmo."

For me even if there was an mmo that was a bit better, if I had to pay a sub, I'd probably stay with GW2.

FFXI, DAOC, EQ2, Rift, etc etc. I pay a sub for 3 of those, and another is one of my all time faves, I had no problem paying a sub for. I would never pay a sub for GW2, it s just not worth it,  IMO.

I can guess alot of you wouldn t pay a sub for it either, that had no problem paying a sub for before.

For me, Guild Wars 2 got tedious and boring .  There are alot of things that are interesting and really well done in Guild Wars 2, but the combat system and the class system are only breaking even, and to me, those are the two most important things.  It's a good game, but it's not leading any MMORPG revolution, that's for sure.

Why is it that everytime a new hyped big thing is released, people start acting like 10 year olds on a sugar rush?

It's a casual themepark meant as a second MMO when your main MMO gets boring..... why would anyone expect more than that is beyond me.

Everything in the game screams "1 hour a week fun", soft grouping, no group roles, "join and pwn a few noobzors" PVP, "endgame starts at lvl 1" (which means no endgame & no goals, it's not like this MMO is a sandbox... it's a themepark... a themepark without endgame.... uhhh yeah im max level, now what? ohhhhh so doing more of the same.... great)

"Dogs are the leaders of the planet. If you see two life forms, one of them's making a poop, the other one's carrying it for him, who would you assume is in charge."

"The idea behind the tuxedo is the woman's point of view that men are all the same; so we might as well dress them that way. That's why a wedding is like the joining together of a beautiful, glowing bride and some guy"

EQ2 is tedious and boring if any mmo has been and one I made the mistake to sub to when it first came out. Crafting in EQ2 can handly be called fun. Its done so well its gone free to play.

I don't dislike Rifts, but I enjoy GW2 more.

I subbed to a lot of games back then, including SWG. Even had a sony station pass. Then after being disappoited time and again by these games I woke up and stopped wasting my money.

Stopped reading right there. I use mouse turning in every mmo I play. I guess you want that good ol' stand still doing nothing but click on target then push buttons combat.

WoW is that way.

If you didn't feel the post was worth reading, why did you fee it was worth posting to?

If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win.

I guess i'm one of the few who are thoroughly enjoying the game.

I'm away from home for a couple of days and itching to get back and play some more.
