Yea, when you remove the context of the DE, the events leading up to the DE, the story of the area, the different mobs and mob mechanics, the active combat, the beautiful setting of the world, awesome score by Jeremy Soule, experience from W v W, experience from crafting, etc. it DOES get a bit repetitive.
We’ll stop to sleep when the game is the best possible game we think it can be. We’ve seen the population of the game steadily rising lately and we’re not going to sit on our butts and congratulate one another, we’re going to try and build on that momentum and make the game even better. -Colin johanson on GW2 |

I agree a lot with the OP. He mentions music score and I think it is very important. Music often makes the world and is key to successful feeling of the whole game. Great themes I remember from WoW, I can recreate in my head instantly but I barely remember any good music in GW2. Jeremy Soule was responsible for that and I think he didnd do a good job. Another thing is visual style. Zones in the game supposed to be different for different races and they seem somehow alike. Maybe blurry or hazy setting and pastel colors make it look so. Going from Sylvari forests to Asura tech grounds doesn't seem like I moved in the terms of how I feel when I look at the screen. It is hard to explain but I hope you get it. Mobs that you encoutnter throught the zones also repeat. There you have river drakes, rock drakes and yet another drakes in the following zone. Same with birds and bats. I played to level 27 and it is enough for me. The game just becomes insipid after a while. |

IMO there is no point of saying IMO because clearly everything you say on discussion boards is your own opinion. Don't really need to start/end each sentence with IMO! |

So the reroll value is no doubt far higher than most MMO's out there. |

Sorry you don't like it...For a long time I was wary of this game, at times I was interested and at other times I wasn't. At the end of the day it came down to playing it and I've found that I love it more than I have liked other MMO's. I just want to keep playing, it's the 1st MMO that feels like the world is alive and has all of this stuff to participate in. I understand where the OP comes from with the sense of tedium that can happen but in all fairness if you just keep moving you're really not in any single place long and the events and quests or whatever you would call them are not all the same. Yeah, there are lots of escorts and yeah there are lots of cent aurs. But I have yet to repeat any content on any of my characters, my highest is in the 50's now and looking at the world map, I won't have to repeat content for any of those characters. The game is gorgeous, the score is beautiful, and I personally love how the combat works in the game. It feels really fluid to me! |

No, what's getting tedious and boring are threads like these. Good luck finding an MMO that's worth the price to you. Personally, I don't think you're going to like the direction the genre is heading, and that goes for a lot of other people who I think honestly are NEVER going to be satisfied and just keep hoping for something that won't happen.
no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

This idea that all mmo’s must follow the same formula to be considered a mmo is not only trite; it’s holding the genre back. I largely feel the same way as the op, GW 2 is nothing more than another theme park; although granted, not as rigid as some, and enjoyable enough for an hour or two, but that’s as far as it goes. I am hopeful that at some point, a new mmo will turn up and folks will say "shit", why wasn’t that done like this before. The problem is not so much the type of questing kill x, protect y, or deliver z; it’s this directed, led by the hand, follow our path to the end, where every class has the same build, armour/weapons, that all recent mmo’s have offered. Because player efforts have no effect on these worlds, there is nothing to invest time and effort in, to feel a real part of. There is something to be said for a group of players carving out their own unique corner of a game world calling it home, and fighting off other players to protect it, creating something through their efforts that has a lasting impact on the local environment. Personally, I feel MMO's have lost their way, the original vision was about creating new worlds, with their own rules, and populating them with players to make of them what they will. The "grind" was a placeholder for content, a means for keeping players occupied and to encourage a sense of reward; however, developers have now kicked the arse out of the idea, applying the "grind" to everything they can pollute with the filth. It’s now at the point the community is split in two, those that want grind on everything, a surrogate for rl employment; and those that only have a couple of hours to spare in the evening and perhaps a few extra at the weekend. I personally long for a decent, classless sandbox, the genre desperately needs one, recent efforts have been half arsed; trash like Mortal Online would scare the most ardent mmo fan off the genre for life. I really do believe mmo gamers need a game where they can forge their own path; decide on their own skill set, have rare hard to learn skills, the removal of must have X armour, or weapons from Y raid, where player effort has an impact on creating items in the game world, have crafting ingredients with rng properties, so players have a reason to keep searching for better. By all means, have interesting poi, large difficult dungeons, and resource rich areas that create regions to be fought over, but allow players to feel as if they really are in an alternate world, where they can have an impact on their surroundings. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but it’s what the genre desperately needs to keep moving forward. My Colour Is Vomit green, I puke on the tards with stupid colour sigs. My symbol is ,,!, O ,!,, My enemies are any prat with a colour sig, a meaningless personality test, or a pointless list of games and classes.

When it comes to leveling experiences in themepark MMORPGs, I don't think I've ever played anything more compelling than GW2.
So yeah, I disagree. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

I take GW2 as a side game and it fills that slot for me well imho. Would not pay monthly for it but considering it does not have sub it's a great entertainment.

I use the mouse to strafe/turn view and the keyboard to cast spells. Keyboard turners use the mouse to click spells and... the keyboard to turn.

Because in the end, isn't every single review if you like or dislike a game jsut an opinion they had about it? Just because the opinion is against what YOU feel doesn't mean its any less valid then your own. |

The camera is a personal oponion because i personally like it and personally i would pay a subscription for this game if there would be a lifetime sub option that would cost me a shitload of money i would pay for it... I have played the beta and i have seen at what rate they release updates.. i have seen the games pvp and class balance completely change from 1 beta to another because of player feedback.
I am bored of these "i know it all" " I speak for everyone" "predicting the future threads" they make no sense + they are boring to read + they add nothing for you or anyone else.

1) apparently doesnt realize that you can turn with keys instead of RMB, or that both forms of turning are pretty much standard in MMOs 2) thinks that the jumping back with a rifle shot is a novelty, doesnt understand that he is playing with a ranged weapon and its way to instantly get out of melee range like youre SUPPOSED to when playing as ranged 3) cant figure out the shops and is somehow missing out on the bags and bags full of blue & green gear that everyone else is using, selling, and salvaging 4) thinks button mashing = effective way of fighting. likely hasnt touched PvP or left the starter zones for that matter
Edit: Apprently Im right about #4: Originally posted by RogueTroopa After doing my umpteenth escort, rescue quest I am done with this game and that's at level ten. It gets stale and boring. Seen too many of these quests in all the other turkeys I've bought. Yawn yawn yawn |

A Mrs Mary Olsen the teacher enters her class. Asks her students a question: "Do you like killing X mobs over and over again repetedly because Sir Nathan Perter Cole said so ? Student 1: Nope Teacher Mrs MO: Then please leave my Themepark. This class is not for you. Next Question: Do you want Sir. NPCole to tell you how many X to kill and for no apparent reason but just that he has a fetish for them? Then help Sir NPC2 his brother to get to Point B from A. Cause he likes to walk this route. Then help their 3rd cousin NPC3 in his room with this Elite mob that sits there trying to kill NPC3, but for some reason he doesnt leave. Then you go to NPC 4 who does what NPC did and NPC 5 who does what NPC 2 did, and so on and on. Student 2: Yes Teacher Mrs. MO: Please go to WoW, it does it the best. It will suit you. If you want to look flashier with shinier graphics join some of the WoW clones. Student 3: But MMO i dont like knowing how many to Kill, i rather be given a reason why Sir NPC needs what he needs, and then show me how it makes a difference to his life and to the others around him. i Like to play a small Role in the world wtih other random people playing a Role in it. Teacher Mrs MO: Then join tthe GW2 line. Sir NPC will tell you why he needs & what he needs. He will even show you what he does with it. You can even help him out after he gets what he needs, if you so feel like it. You can even help him get back to his lab where he uses the killed mob loot which you got him with your friends around, so he doesnt die on the way. You can see what he made, if it is something dangerous time to SAVE HIM! He then thanks you and you can leave or try doing it again if he back to his old tricks. Or Maybe find another fool who does something similar but with a new loot, doesnt build something but tries destroying it, does walk somewhere but tries to get his transport ship there. Or sends his friends to get some thing back from his Room, So maybe you need to help his friend now! and on and on. This is how Themepark MMO's go. Dont like them, you are free to leave. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtNNiZe6rXk |
