on the trash mobs one thing we didn';t do as well was have a pure mitigation or avoidance spec'd class hit the mobs first of all. whilst there is no hard tanking in GW2 having a more resiliant character attack first is going to help avoid those early drops. doesn't hae to be a guardian or a classic tank, rangers with pets shared damage or a thief blinding them would work. |

Originally posted by Pouf I've done this story mode 3 times now and guided other people through it. If you run in with no communication, yes, it'll be chaos. But, you are dead wrong overall. The lovers: The rocks knock the lovers apart as well as stun them, half way through the fight they teleport ot each other and stay together on purpose, it's part of the encounter... there is nothing you can do about it at that point, you just have to survive. Later you can split them again. The two times I knew what I was doing we did this successfully and we were in full control. All the lovers attacks can be dodged. As for trash mobs.. stop sheeping each other. That's means stop standing in the same place as each other all the time. Melees, one in front, one round back. If you think you are gunna melee without dodging and just beat on them then you are gunna die. Melee have to strafe, dodge in and out.. leave the fight for a bit and then come back.. and watch for healing circles and stay in the spirit/banner/etc. areas. All ranged people should not be next to each other unless an aoe boon circle is down.. even then, you don't have to stay in the circle. The circles 'buff' you for a few seconds, you can leave a healing circle and you will still have the regen it gives for a few seconds. There is no excuse for more than one person to get nuked by a single attack. |

Fun Dungeon but very hard. Like everyone is saying the 3 trash mobs at once was nearly wiping the PuG I was in. Granted it was the first time I really had to use the dodge in combat so I died alot. Soloing I have no use for the dodge skill. I can tap tank up to 3 equal level mobs at the same time solo, not a chance in hell in this dungeon. The bosses were not too hard besides the lovers, they are a pain in the ass and the little ghost minions that are half invis where giving us tons of problems. We did what some of you are talking about, die, rez, run back in do as much damage as you can, rise repeat. Overall I like the dungeon run, it was hard but I think it is geared to above 5 people even though 5 is the max you can have. Maybe as more people (me included) learn how dodge works and how to use it. Sooner or Later |

Like I said I know it's possible with a pro group, i'm just saying it's probably too hard for the majority and if I could only play with other players that plays well and always listen i wouldnt mind. And even there i'm quite sure deaths happens at least 10-20 times per run

Originally posted by Kyus_HoB Downed mechanic is part of the game though, it's meant to happen. Dunno what else to say about it other than that. You will get downed from time to time, otherwise whats the point of the downed state in first place? A mistake a lot of people make in downed state though is to keep attacking. It's best not too, unless a mob is seriously low and you can rally from the kill. Just try using the self revival skills only then there's much less chance you'll hold or get aggro when downed. |

Yea but between, downed state and trying to res ally, and having a healer, i would pick the healer.. That's my oponion |

I did Ascalonian Catacombs today with guildies, I was level 29 when I entered (you can enter if you are below level 30) I ended up almost 31, the experience wasn't bad, almost a full level just from one run. I didn't have an elite skill up to the Ranger boss, I still found it quite enjoyable and challenging. Major Spoilers: There are 4 major bosses in Ascalonian Catacombs, the hardest one by far are the two lovers Vassar and Relena (the King is harder but hey he is the final boss, he should be) The two bosses have 2 large white circles below them. If they overlap it means they are affecting each other. It's not hard to split them, just make sure your team focus fire on Vassar while a single person (preferably with defense skills) damages Relena and pulls her. While there is no "regular" aggor mechanic, if only one person damages Relena then he WILL get the aggro. Relena hits hard with homing shock attacks, they are slow and she has a fairly slow casting speed but they are homing, you can dodge them or go behind a pillar/rock to avoid the damage. She also uses lightning storm which deals insane damage so stay away of the red circles. Finally, if she is near Vassar and low on health he will heal her up to the maximum of her hit points. That's why it is essential to focus Vassar and have someone pull Relena away. Vassar summons adds which shouldn't cause any serious problems. His most potent attack is confusion which will kill skill1-spammers instantly as each time you use a skill, you are damaged. Wait for it to expire, use long casting time/channeled skills or ask your group to heal confusion before you kill yourself. They do require some teamwork and a lot of spatial awareness but they aren't impossible. Good luck Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums |

Originally posted by Vannor I agree, and quite like the downed state. I think I can see where OP might be coming from, if you don't have a coordinated group you end up running around reviving people constantly. I blame too many glass cannon specs for this being an issue though. bring on explorable mode tonight rarrrr! |
|
|
Yea i personally went in first with full glass cannon, i may retry it with Water/Earth spec for survivability and see how it goes, if i can manage to survive more at least it will tell me that one day we will be able to do runs without always being down. Who knows it's still new

Well, it did get annoying after a while. You can talk about dodging, but if one of those lovers lightnings you, or if the male lover puts confusion and spawns 5 illusionary mages on you followed by an instant aoe, there really isn't much you can do. Same if trash mobs put poisons or bleeds on you that last for ages while your group has little condition removal, or if the king pulls you in and then instantly casts foefire. It's not hard because you can keep zerging all the fights, but that does get annoying sometimes. On the other hand I did appreciate finally killing the fuckers. |

Yea me too, but in no way i feel like going in again tonight and this is always bad for a game

AC was great, we died 150 times atleast but it was fun. Can't expect first time through to be a cakewalk. The twins were doable because the rocks made them fly away. Not that hard to keep them seperate.

I did it in the last bwe, and I'm pretty sure they haven't increased the difficulty since then. I didn't die during the two boss fight, we had maybe 2 or 3 deaths total in the whole team during that fight...so I do think you just needed to read just your tactics.
That said I agree the trash mobs were rather hard, nut I wouldn't change that. I liked it. |
